Hi all,
Been visiting this site for years but never had the bottle to post anything as lots of people with may more knowledge than me on here.

Currently on holiday and had a few beers so though I'd give it a go.

Have to say I love the site and the different opinions, all of which I value.

Ed001 is a knowledgeable straight talking guy which I love and also think ED25 is absolutely brilliant with some of his comments. Love them all to be honest.

Goes without saying that ED002 is a massive miss and was shocked by his passing as he took no prisoners but clearly knew his stuff. Loads of new posters have taken on the mantle and I'm thankful for the posts from the ITK's.

Anyway, thought I'd see what people's thought were about Karl Heinz Ridle and Fernando Morientes?

Been a Liverpool supporter for 45 years and seen some unbelievable players but could never quite work out why these two didn't hit the high's I expected them to.

Absolutely love this site and check it at least 10 times a day. It became an addiction long ago. I love hearing people's views and value them even if I don't agree with them all.

All the best to everyone who contributes.

By the way I'm not connected in anyway to the club or anyone who can give info. Just a massive fan who want the best for the club and its supporters.

Cheers guys and gals.

I love tipsy ShowMeTheMane.

You need to post more, friend. Particularly, a 45 year long support, and a nice guy to boot. Exactly the type of fan I like to converse with here.

I remember singing Morientes' name when he signed with fellow supporters. I thought he was going to put us on a new level.

I think it was timing. He played a lot of games to that point despite not being overly old and the Premier League/our style of play at the time.

Just not the right fit, I think.

Can't remember Riedle. Just too long ago. ?

Anyway, hope you are having a good evening, my man. I'm sure one of the kingpin player gurus will have a better take than mine.

Victor, butcher them both for him, please.

Riedle just came too late in his career, and seemed off the pace. Still showed flashes though. Same with Morientes. Pop Jari in there as well.
If only 3 years earlier for all 3!

02 Jul 2026 18:14:20
Riedle came when he was 32, he hadn't been selected by Germany for 3 years. He was well past his best.

I absolutely loved Jari. Ridle was pretty lethal in the air, I remember! ?

Both players were a bit off the pace here, great players just not suited to our league.

Litmanen was unreal. Saw him play for Liverpool a few times, and was different gravey. Wish we could have got him earlier. Remember watching him play at Anfield against Mypas 47 in Europe couldn't take my eyes off him. Went to university in Liverpool so spent all my money on tickets. Student loans well spent.

Remember the first time I went to a match.

Honestly took my breath away. Met my wife at uni and took her.

Apparently, she liked McManaman's legs. ?

I'll post again at some point as you've all blown me away with the kind posts.

I'd like to see us sign Lewis Hall. I live in North East and watch Newcastle regularly. Probably rinse us again like they did with Isak.

Both brilliant strikers in their own right but obviously didn't have their best years at us. Still good players for us when they were here though.

Considering his age, Reidle was decent enough.

Litmanen was a Rolls Royce of a player, but between injuries (mind you he still played 30+ games in 01/02) and the fact that Houllier didn't know how to use a player like him, and was never going to make him first choice, he didn't do as much for us as he could have.

Morientes was very disappointing considering he was only 28 when he joined. He basically hadn't played for six months for RM before he joined us, but even when he was playing regularly for us, he was slow, laboured and looked about 35.

For a relatively big guy, he wasn't great for being physical and needed everything put on a plate for him. And unlike Litmanen under Houllier, Rafa actually did play him regularly and gave him every chance. He scored some tidy goals, but you never went into a game thinking "Morientes is going to score today". Cisse outscored him despite seeming not to know what offside was, playing on the right half the time, and relying on power instead of finesse when it came to shooting.

Welcome ?? Keep posting. Keep replying. Stay involved, bro.

Riddle was past it. Morientes wasn't able for the speed and physicality. Jari was the best of the three, some unreal touches, but again the speed done for him.

Liverpool FC8, That is a lovely reply.

We struggled with centre forward purchases around that time. Although they were all good players, the likes of Riedle and Litmanen did little of note in a red shirt. Cisse was the Darwin Nunez of his generation, and a bit daft off the pitch. The best ones we had were home grown.

Welcome, mate!

That's what we need, Molby. ?? The more Reds the better.
