Just have to say cheers up to all the ITK, thanks for sharing it's absolutely precious you taking time sharing stuff with all us Not-ITK.

There has been discussion about midfielders and an interesting one. Think VG just listed all our current players recently.

But my question is, don't you see Trey making his big breakthrough this season. He only got small parts last season, but I think he has something and willing to learn. My shoutout is for him being brought on much more this season.

And maybe Chiesa will get some credit this one as well?

I thing Rio needs more tricks than his bicycle tricks, he must have something else though?

And Jones I don't know. I like him in the squad but he often thinks to much and takes far to many touches, that could be a problem playing fast attacking football.

Free to comment also edd1.

{Ed001's Note - I have to be honest, I really do not see anything in Nyoni, but he has not had enough time to show anything either, so it is difficult to tell. So far though, I do not see why he was getting minutes ahead of others.

I think we will need lots of players to cope with the extra intensity, with Iraola's style of play and the lack of fitness the players have coming into it, so keeping Jones and Chiesa might well pay dividends, even if neither are first choice starters.}

Sure, I read that Chiesa was the fastest player in early pre-season training. There is a good player here who didn't cost a huge amount of money. I'd love to see him get more game time. Slot's treatment of him when fit bordered on criminal for me.

And @Johnny, if Chiesa was the fastest player in the early preseason tests, then he came into this season fully prepared, it seems.

Indeed, Ed01 re: needing more players.

I think if there hadn't been an over-crowding problem in our prisons, Slot would be serving a custodial sentence for his treatment of Chiesa.

The bottom line is, Johnny, Chiesa isn't good enough and his brief cameo appearances endorsed this fact. He was one of the best a few years back, but injuries have taken their toll. He would ideally be moved on, but at the moment we're struggling for numbers, so it makes sense to keep him, if only so we can sing his song. It's a lovely little ditty.

I'd love to see Chiesa do well at Liverpool, as he seems like he has a great character and attitude, and before his injury he was unplayable for club and country.

However, from what I've seen of him, he doesn't look like the same player post-injury and doesn't look physically adept for the PL, and that was under Slot, who seemed to like to keep the players in first gear.

Iraola will certainly get a good look at him this preseason, but there's hardly a queue of clubs beating down the door to try and take him off the club's hands.

JK23, it could be argued that was the issue for Chiesa. The players all lacked fitness last year, which would be much worse if you barely get to kick a ball. Constantly playing Frimpong at RW is beyond a joke as he's clearly not suited to it.

There's every chance that you're right, and he isn't up to it, but I can't help but feel, in a full gas team where there'll be minutes up for grabs, he could become a useful squad player.

17 Jul 2026 10:23:11
In one of the videos, Chiesa looked every bit a masters aged player turned up for pre season.

17 Jul 2026 10:27:11
Changing 100%, mate.

Could very well happen.

17 Jul 2026 10:34:35
Whatever happens, at £12m I still think that Chiesa was a good signing. He may not excite people, but I still think he can do a decent job for us and I don't think it's fair that he is judged on panicked cameos when we needed a goal or appearances alongside a load of kids in the cup.

Like with the rest of the players in the squad, I'm happy to see what he can do in Iraola's setup before judging him.

17 Jul 2026 10:35:42
The problem with Frimpong is he's a wingback, and we don't play with wingbacks. He's probably more of a RW than a RB. It beggars belief why we bought him, in my opinion. Having a radiant smile and a wonderful personality is of no kin use to us.

There's a lot of positivity on the site recently. Now Chiesa is next for a relaunch. As Rome points out, he's not good enough any more; what he did in the distant past is irrelevant.

There's been quite a lot said by the likes of Mo around the lack of winning mentality at the club, and inferred there's too much messing about in training, etc.

I'd be happy if Frimpong and a few others were sold to allow Iraola to get serious from the off with the squad and shape it in his own way.

17 Jul 2026 12:54:54
Overkill, not trying to rehash the whole Slot thingy, but if players were messing about in training, that was his fault cos he created the environment for that to happen.

And, I don't think Mo was talking about players messing around specifically. I think Mo was talking bout the club entirely from a top-down basis. Just my take.

17 Jul 2026 13:52:47
Mo was supposedly talking about a club "from a top down basis" that won the PL 14 months ago. Mo was part of the problem last year, cus he wasn't good enough.
