Stark reminder today with United and Spurs that the transfer window can be deceptive. Everybody been waxing lyrical about Spurs' business - they've won the market. A bit like Liverpool did last summer before the wheels fell off.
Undoubtedly we still have business to do, but our best signing is the man in the dugout, Iraola. No use spending £350m if you can't compete in the basics with Brentford.

Facts! Iraola about to bring the excitement back to Liverpool's football.
But, I'm wary of the right back situation. I think we've got a real problem there, quite amazed it hasn't been addressed after last season.

Came on to say the exact same thing, BootRoom... 100%... signing for the sake of signing doesn't always work... look at both United and Chelsea over the past few years. Never any guarantees.
Anyway, let's hope we can deliver tomorrow and start strong.
Looking forward to King Kev getting a proper send off from 2 proper sets of fans. Rarely disappoints as a spectacle too. Let's hope we're on the winning end of another cracker. Although I'd take a boring win too. ?

A lot of their supporters and the media are saying their squad isn't great. That was before the result today, although I don't think many expected a loss.
I was on holiday surrounded by a few groups of Mancunians today, and wondered why they were all so quiet.
Then realised later they were playing in the early match when I heard the score.
Hopefully tomorrow we can get off to a good start, psychologically it's important even if it's just the first three points at stake.

In my opinion, we have the best midfield in the top 6 now Rodri and Bernardo have left. Whilst Man City may still have the best forward line, thanks to Haaland mostly, and Arsenal clearly have the best defence by a distance, Szoboszlai and Gravenberch walk into any team in the league, in my opinion. Mac Allister was wanted by Madrid not long ago, and Wirtz was wanted by Bayern last summer, so let's not pretend they're bums either.
Our midfielders are being judged on one poor season where the tactics and fitness levels were awful. They're individually excellent players, and when the tactics and fitness were right, we dog walked the league and spent the last month in Ibiza. However, I do think Wirtz has upset the balance of the midfield, and it's down to Iraola to find a solution that gets it working without freezing out a £116m asset.

I'm happy that for the first time, there was credit to the crop of players we possess in the midfield.
Every Manager has their preferred way of setting up their team, and when you look at the new Coach, he definitely has what will suit the current squad he has.
What is needed from the fans is to support the Coach and the players from the get go, starting with today's game.
You will be surprised as to how much adaptability and progressing can do in just a few weeks when it is done to the strength of the players.
