I’m not remotely ITK, so just an opinion, but I can’t see how we don’t make a push for Mbaye before the window shuts (probably paying close to what PSG want). Of all players we seem to be identifying, he is the only one that is seemingly surplus and where the selling club wouldn’t have to find a replacement in a few days. He is the most attainable.

Unless we offer a ludicrous amount for Rayan that could tempt Bournemouth, of course.

The game against Newcastle for me demonstrated what we all feared about the right wing position. Munoz may be able to do a job as cover there, but not a season long answer. Interestingly, a video of Barcola against English teams showed him used often on the right.

Cheers.

My thoughts exactly, and Monaco need to sell, so it makes sense to snap up M'Baye and Camara. They should be easy deals.

27 Aug 2026 08:33:45
Just a minor point, as Iraola actually said he wants Camara? Did I miss that?

Munoz is going to outshine Barcola, hands down, as would Minteh if he joined. Barcola
Needs wide open space to run into, not parked buses and Dan Burns.

Baldrick, I'm sorry but that's total rubbish. 50% of Barcola's Champions League goals were against English sides. He also played for PSG, who face parked buses every weekend in the league.

Every transfer has a risk attached to it, but Barcola is one of the most talented wingers in world football.

If our fans manage to put a negative spin on this one, then quite simply they'll never be happy about anything.

Baldrick, we need pace in behind like we had with Salah and Mane. Did they need space to run into? Yes, but the key was winning the ball up high and getting the ball early to them. The best signing we could make now would be bringing Trent back.

27 Aug 2026 09:23:48
Agreed. Mbaye and Camara seem like obvious answers to our needs.

27 Aug 2026 09:45:50
Lots of comments to 'what we need,'
'It's there, it's obvious,' 'Just pay it!'
But we don't know what they're asking!
Prices seem to rapidly inflate when Liverpool come knocking.

27 Aug 2026 10:08:32
Actually, Hoof it. Prices rapidly inflate if you eff around and decide to do your business in the last week of the window.

27 Aug 2026 10:26:17
Vik, what you have said and what Hoof has said can both be correct.

Mbaye - we were quoted a price some EUR10-EUR25m more than Leverkusen were quoted some weeks ago.

Also, Vik, if a player wants to leave, sometimes the price can fall closer to the end of the window, like Barcola has, as otherwise a team has a player who has mentally signed out, whose price may start falling (due to entering the last year or two of their contract, with no intention of signing a new one) and who wants to leave.

This happened, for example, with Isak last window.

Space in behind is key, and having two wide players to stretch a defence is vital.

However... Mo and Sadio worked so well because we had a number 9 who dropped deep and played like a 10.

Having everyone up top, basically running away from the ball, just means a whole back 4 will drop off.

The space between the opposition back 4 and their midfield needs to be occupied.

We need to sort out the player who is going to do that role, to make two quick, in behind attacking wide players work.

Baldrick is another troll Harry account, pay him no mind.

27 Aug 2026 11:25:30
How can the price inflate if we sign BB for less than the asking price?
PSG would have known for a while that he wanted out, that they would sell, and of our interest.
