The only issue that I have with the Araujo loan is why is the buy option so high?
If we do decide to make his move, we will clearly try to negotiate that down. Barca also obviously want to get his massive wages off the bill. But that fee is not an incentive for us to trigger it if he does well which he is doing.

Also if he does elevate his game don’t you think other teams will be after him and would pay more? Hughes wasn’t the greatest Sporting Director and got very few things right but bringing Ronnie in and negotiating a reasonable transfer fee if we wanted him and the end of the loan was good work by Hughes and needs commending

Let's be real, the majority of these buy options aren't triggered, the main concern of the buying club is to get the player in for the loan period, they also have very little power in the negotiations when setting up these deals.

As someone who had severe doubts about his temperament and propensity to have brain farts, I've been pleasantly surprised. He's been solid and committed. If he keeps this up £47m is a good fee.
