My pal who told me about the Isak deal has just informed me that Liverpool and palace have an agreement in place regarding Adam Wharton.
Fee in the region of 60 mill (which I find on the low side)
The deal is for the summer window not Jan.
Just wondering if any of the ITKS (carra, fields etc ) have heard anything.

From what I've sign he will help with build-up for sure. Can really fizz the ball into the forwards. I can imagine him finding Wirtz. However, it has to mean Macca is off to Madrid. Can you imagine how lightweight a trio of Wharton, Macca and Wirtz would be.

01 Dec 2025 15:27:28
Aye, back in the summer I heard he was a potential incoming for the summer 26.

01 Dec 2025 15:31:27
I look forward to Glasner stamping his feet and putting any potential replacements off joining Palace so that the move falls through.

01 Dec 2025 16:24:55
That would be a great signing.

01 Dec 2025 16:35:46
Shipley - glasner would need to extend his contract first. It expires in June so I’d imagine he’ll be off somewhere.

01 Dec 2025 16:38:16
Funky, I like Mac but he’s been off the boil all season. Wharton would be a massive upgrade IMO.

01 Dec 2025 17:00:42
Funky, Wharton lightweight? I thought he was the opposite.

01 Dec 2025 17:25:45
Can't see why this is a good Idea.
He indeed have amazing passing range, but we need someone which will be much more mobile and intensive.

As good as Wharton is as footballer
He won't energize our midfield.

I think someone like Angelo Stiller, will fit much better, not the classic number 6, but hardworking, high intensity and also great in terms of breaking pressure trough short pass plays.

In counter attacking 4-3-3 with very fast wingers and along with 2 other midfielders that could compentstate his less intense and physical game maybe it could work.
not with 4-2-3-1 with a 10 that everything run through him and the main idea would be to bring the ball to him.

Also not in maybe future 4-1-2-1-2 / 4-2-2 / 4-2-2-2 formation we can start and use in the day after salah to combine wirtz-isak-ekiteke.
Wharton won't flatter szobo or gravenbarch.
Like someone in the Stiller profile (or Elliot Anderson for other example)

Wharton reminds me of one of my favourite Liverpool midfielders: Jamie Redknapp. Lovely on the ball, intelligent reader of the state of the game, and what kind of passes are called for: he knew when a sideways pass was needed to just slow a game down, and gradually seize back the momentum.

But he also has the same flaws: a lack of pace, and a torrid time with injuries.
I would love to see him with us, but I hope he can remain fit.

Can any prem side compete at the top without an enforcer these days?
As peiople have said, it seems Wharton would be the Mac replacement, but does his arrival mean Grav is able to be less defensively?

01 Dec 2025 20:53:06
Grav hasn’t been defensive at all this season, it’s been a major problem. AW can’t defend either.

01 Dec 2025 22:50:42
Grav has been poor this season, not sure what he adds or what his role is in an already weak midfield.

01 Dec 2025 23:08:32
Don’t want him.

01 Dec 2025 23:42:32
Sorry but stiller is not a pacer physical dm. He’s similar more similar to Wharton than all the midfielders you compared himto.

02 Dec 2025 07:07:27
Wharton is a passer and not a physical presence. Yes he can get involved in defending but he's about as fast and mobile as Macca and pretty injury prone, if you get Wharton it's for progressing the ball and not for getting some bite in midfield. Stiller is the same. I think players like that are more alternatives to our vision of having Zubimendi in midfield.

If you want a midfielder who can do a bit of everything, who can tackle, pass, carry, cover space and look comfortable on either side of the ball while having the stamina to do it for 90 minutes, it's Elliott Anderson. I don't think he is absolutely elite at all of those aspects but he is very good at all of them, and he continues to improve as well.

02 Dec 2025 07:08:33
That being said. I still think Joao Gomes is worth a good look. Wolves are definitely going down and he is the one midfielder in this entire list of midfielders who loves the dirty work side of the game.

02 Dec 2025 08:22:43
PatrikBurgher - It would seem strange if Edwards went for an injury prone player. Is there anyone else out there like Caicedo?

02 Dec 2025 09:16:57
My guess would be that he would come in as a replacement for Macca. I personally think that it would be a great move.

02 Dec 2025 15:22:11
Like jamie redknap i hope he is not jamie very good footballer but injury prone. YNWA.
