Bild reporting Xabi ready to take over Frankfurt.
Not just this report but I think reports of him joining us are still wide of the mark i think.
People are hyped by this prodigal son return? Xabi Alonso owes LFC nothing he was shafted by Benitez and Liverpool trying to out him for Barry don't forget.
I'll believe it when I see it!

Behave Jay. Speculative rubbish that. Rafa forced him out not Liverpool. It was common knowledge he was happy at the time and fell out with the manager. As for Frankfurt, again no chance.

Frankfurt would really be a step down for him after making a case as one of the best young coaches in the world. They do have money though and have a pedigree as a progressive attacking team that is well run and buys well, so what do I know.

lol if he is holding a grudge against the club from that long ago when no one bar maybe the kitman and the kitchen lady are still around, then perhaps it's best he go back to being a farmer
cheers :)

Frankfurt have established an interest, yes. But it means nothing. From what I hear, backing up what Carra said, I'd be pretty gobsmacked if Xabi isn't in the Anfield dugout come next season.

Thanks for the assurance Victor. So far you, Fields, and Carra said the same thing so I am inclined to believe the three of you. But after the debacle surrounding Semenyo and Guehi where we were apparently the front runners and still screwed up, I wouldn't put it past Hughes and Edwards to somehow fumble this as well.

I'm with you Dracred.
I'm not doubting the rumours, I'd want to believe it if I was told the same given what's going on, but I'm not convinced we'll make the right decision and see it through.
I suspect they're still hoping Arne pulls through, and if we finish top 4 or 5 he'll be the coach next season. If we don't get CL then he'll be gone, and if Xabi is still available then he'd be the obvious choice.

Nor would I. But I'm still very confident.
My issue with this current regime in charge is that they are certain they know best, at all times, and act on that despite it not always being in the best interests of the club. Confidence in your ability to do your job is one thing, but arrogance is another.
19 Jan 2026 13:54:36
Thanks VG. And you're right, the word to describe them is arrogance.

We didn't screw up Dracred, we didn't want to sign the players. Or at least didn't think they were a priority.
That's a conscious decision, not a screw up. Whether you agree with that decision or not is irrelevant. The club didn't want to sign the players so they didn't.
