This is the exact rumour:
There was a bust up in the dressing room after the loss to Bournemouth. This involved Virgil van Dijk and Curtis Jones with Arne Slot.
Curtis and Virgil were particularly vocal in the dressing room calling out tactics and efforts. This did no go down well with Arne and whilst Virgil kept his cool, Curtis did not.
As a result, Curtis Jones was dropped from the squad against Qarabag and is now linked to a loan move to Inter.
It is worth noting this is not the first bust up involving the manager. Robertson, Mac Allister and Salah too have had bust ups with the manager this season.

If the club are willing to get rid of Jones because of a bust up with Slot it would indicate that the club are backing Slot and don't intend on letting him go anytime soon.

Stevie G is edging closer for the short term. He will command respect and unify the players, if nothing else.
I can see it now in future pub quizes. Which playing legend won a CL in his only stint at his home town club, despite only being a manager there for 4 months.
30 Jan 2026 22:05:04
The club is an absolute mess.
30 Jan 2026 22:10:47
Jones is passionate but he's gone on record many times to say Slot's style and tactics really suit him as a player. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that it's hard to believe.

Cheers Wallace yeah.

If Jones wasn't a scouse, would there be such a clamour to play him? I very much doubt it. If Jones wasn't English he would be at best been seen as a utility player. He runs around a lot but doesn't do much apart from that. Guys, no other top club in the PL would take him.

My one wish after Mr. Klopp, which i posted at the time was . "strong preference for not a Dutch manager. " When Hughes is sacked, will the job be advertised on Indeed.com?
30 Jan 2026 23:25:48
A player that every club needs.
Local lad, plays everywhere, gives everything, doesn't moan or whinge when not starting, not on huge wages, has passion. Yeh let's get rid of him. F'ing ridiculous decision if he goes.
I'd rather have Jones as manager than Slot right now!
30 Jan 2026 23:27:28
Dutch manager won us a PL title. What were you hoping for?
30 Jan 2026 23:30:45
Curtis has been far from our worst performers this year….
31 Jan 2026 00:23:19
I don't believe any of that.
31 Jan 2026 00:53:21
No top team would want Curtis jones? When are our fans going to rate the lad and give him his due finally?
31 Jan 2026 07:32:06
Spurs want him and they are currently the 4th best team in Europe and 14th best in England.
31 Jan 2026 07:39:36
Sorry PB, you are right, let's give him his due, Spurs are rumoured to be interested in signing Jones.

@FSGenius75, and those who clicked the thumbs up …. Were you asleep when we achieved automatic qualification for one of the world's major football competitions this week.
The club haven't performed as well as we want / hoped but to call it an "absolute mess" just means you are showing your ignorance re the running of a multi billion global business.

Take the bit about Curtis is a local lad out of the equation and he has been a bitter disappointment like most of them.
look at these stats.20 premier league games 1 goal, no assist.157 crosses into the box 7 finding a red shirt.
Shots 14, on target 4.Passes 957, Key passes 17. Dribbles 22, successful 15. Dispossessed 15 times. 111 ground duels 56 won.
He might be from Liverpool but his stats over the season show me my eyes don't lie.
I see him run around a lot without doing anything, but small safe passes and when he is asked to do stuff in the opponents box he falls short.
Before you Curtis club fan boys tell me he cares about the club. So does fat Eddie who sits next to me on the kop, but I know he isn't good enough either.
31 Jan 2026 13:12:31
Really harsh assessment that Itstrue.
Eddie isn't that fat.

If we continue to play like we did against Newcastle this season May not be such a disaster after all, plus a special mention to Ibu's performance last night, whilst Wirtz and Hugo will take most of the plaudits for Stella performances, Ibu returned from a personal tragedy early coz he wanted to help the team out and was inspired, maybe this season has weighed heavy on him with it going on the background.
The goal gave me Ali vibes. I don't care who's in charge or making signing decisions if we play exciting football that entertains and has me on the she of my seat.
