Morning Gents.

The manger saga continues.

Just been informed that Liverpool are in direct talks with Sebastian Hoeness.

Also been made aware that Jurgen Klopp has been a helping hand in regards to such approach.

Happy Tuesday.

19 May 2026 10:01:15
Cheers Robbo.

19 May 2026 10:02:23
Cheers, Rob.

Wouldn't it be best to hire an older, more experienced manager though? Someone who can handle these egos? No offence to Hoeness, but will he command the respect of these players?

19 May 2026 10:03:51
Wow, hope this happens, this guy is ?.

19 May 2026 10:17:50
Best manager? Jebus's, better than Pret A.

19 May 2026 10:18:40
Cheers, Robbo.

19 May 2026 10:25:14
I would imagine you don't really need to be older, it's more about how you put yourself across, carry yourself and motivate.
Being more present would go some way towards setting expectations and standards.

Happy to give the guy a chance.

19 May 2026 10:26:24
Excellent news.

19 May 2026 10:29:19
In my opinion, he's the second coming of Jurgen Klopp, he's a great manager, and seems to me, he creates a team out of individuals.

Perfect appointment in my eyes.

19 May 2026 10:32:27
Hoeness has the charisma and presence, which perhaps Iraola lacks. Iraolo is a brilliant coach, but being the figurehead of LFC demands more.

19 May 2026 10:32:35
I believe Jurgen was 48 when he came to Liverpool. Hoeness is 44.
Arguably, Jurgen had more years in management than Hoeness but may bring different ideas and a more Klopp-like playing style?

Alonso is also 44 & Iraola is 43, so is age really that important?

19 May 2026 10:37:41
I would've been happy with him or Iraola, however, the only thing I wonder about Iraola is that he might want to jet back off to Spain at some point due to his family missing home.

I don't know much about him other than what I've read, but if he's desperate to join us and can get the levels back up, then we should be back in business!

Cheers Robbo.

19 May 2026 10:39:37
Hopefully he can bring Stiller with him.

19 May 2026 10:45:34
If you are good enough, you are old enough imo.

As for dealing with the Egos of the players, that would all depend on how he communicates with them.

If players buy into what you want them to do, it makes the job so much easier to navigate.

Such a shame it has come to this, but Slot has only himself to blame.

Treating the manager's job like a part-time position was never going to go down well. Add in the style of play, the lack of fitness and the fact the players and supporters have mentally checked out, and there can only be one outcome.

19 May 2026 10:50:42
Duck all of these players should have any ego after this season.

19 May 2026 10:52:49
RobboLFC, you are absolutely correct, he is the next best thing to Klopp. ?

19 May 2026 10:58:09
Cheers, Robbo.

Anyone know if Honess will bring his family with him to Liverpool?

19 May 2026 10:58:10
Hoeness very much employs a modern way of playing, with deep, patient build-up and dominance of the ball favoured over the chaotic pressing and attacking that the Bundesliga has become known for. Stuttgart's style has often been compared to that of Pep Guardiola's Man City.

Hoeness' flexibility is reminiscent of Julian Nagelsmann, while the German dresses like Jurgen Klopp and his team presses like a Klopp side.

Intriguingly, during his time away from the game, Hoeness linked up with Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton to analyse the Italian's philosophy. The inspirations behind Hoeness' ideas are clear for all to see, and his players have executed them to perfection in 2023/24.

19 May 2026 11:00:43
Please, Please, Robbo, let it be true, mate. ?

19 May 2026 11:02:37
I think his mum is likely to stay in Germany.

Hopefully this is a go! Thanks, Robbo.

19 May 2026 11:05:16
At this stage I'll take almost anybody over Slot, bar Mourinho or another Dutch coach (e.g. Ten Hag, Van Gaal).

Hoeness sounds capable to me. I agree that it would be excellent if he brought in Stiller if he's appointed as our next coach. We desperately need a workhorse type CM with bite and good distribution like him.

19 May 2026 11:07:45
Still not buying any of this personally and will be surprised if Slot does indeed move on (or is pushed). But if it happens so be it!

In all honestly, I know very little about Sebastian Hoeness, I have an awareness of him over the past few years and know he is well thought of, and his teams play a distinct high pressing style that is not too dissimilar to a certain German ex LFC boss.

But there in lies my worry...

Are we going down a dodgy path just trying to chase and recreate another Klopp!?!?!

Isn't that what Dortmund did for a few years after Jurgen moved on and look where that got them?

This guy has not really won anything of note and I'd just worry he's a poor man's Jurgen tribute act.

A massive worrying step into the unknown!

19 May 2026 11:08:54
I don't know anything bout this lad, but few comments mention that he prefers a more deliberate slow build up play, which is one (of many) criticisms of Slot. Interested to know if people would tolerate slow build up play if the high energy press returned?

19 May 2026 11:14:27
I'm not worried about managing big egos, he's a manager and regardless who he manages, he should be able to deal with players. If he can't then he shouldn't be a manager.

19 May 2026 11:15:17
Thanks as always Robbo, keep the information flowing.

19 May 2026 11:20:13
As long as he's not a yes man like Slot to Hughes and Edward's that's all.

19 May 2026 11:20:37
If De Zerbi is an inspiration for Hoeness, he's basically got the same game model at Arne Slot, who also cited De Zerbi's style. So more press baiting crap.

As for second coming of Klopp - a dangerous road to go down.

19 May 2026 11:23:18
Absolute Blockbuster of a Coach, sorry.

19 May 2026 11:39:15
His team presses like Klopp, but that doesn't mean he is a Klopp copy. As mentioned by others, his team is more possession and control based than fast, chaotic transitions. Stiller is integral as a tempo setter rather than a quarterback, and he needs a runner next to him.

For Klopp-like excitement going forward, I think Iraola is probably the closest and would be my choice.

19 May 2026 11:52:21
Thanks, Robbo. Any updates on Edwards and STC?

19 May 2026 11:55:12
It might be in the minority, but I don't think our squad has many big egos. Rather, we have a bunch of soft lads that are quick to feel sorry for themselves.

We need to add more steel in the squad while adding some leadership and work ethic in the football hierarchy.

19 May 2026 12:42:04
How do Chelsea fire Rosenior, have an interim manager and appoint Alonso? Pep reports he's leaving City, and they appoint Maresca as his replacement in 1 day.
In the meantime, Slot has been getting worse all season, and we are still deciding on if we need a new manager, and if we do, who's it going to be.

19 May 2026 13:05:28
Maybe they are happy with the manager they have, Krums89. Would explain why there's no news.

19 May 2026 13:56:35
I don't know where your guys get their bits. I don't claim to be ITK either, but as of yesterday LFC have not been talking to any managers at all.
Slot has always maintained good relationships with players.

Slot has always been absolutely clear with the board and has been fair to all players. The players want contracts and commitments that the board and Slot don't want to give.

Always been the case.

This season's disappointment, Slot has accepted all responsibility and has a plan for next year.

There is no change and Slot is the boss. Liverpool will not change a coach because players are sus and can't handle a shred of responsibility.

19 May 2026 14:03:46
Cafu, honestly, dude, the writing is on the wall. I don't see how/where you get this stance other than trying to wind ppl up.

19 May 2026 14:23:00
I'm not sure egos are an issue, those speaking out have done so for their love of the club.

19 May 2026 14:30:53
Robbo, thank you always for the good news.

In that case, is Sebastian Hoenes a strong candidate for the Liverpool manager position?

I understand he renewed his contract, but I am curious if there is a separate release clause.

Also, I wonder if this is the end for Iraola.

Thank you always.

19 May 2026 14:39:58
Cafu, do you really believe in what you just wrote? The second players liked Salah's post, they knew how people were gonna read into it. By linking it, they made a statement of support to Salah's comments and showed where they stand.

It didn't take long either, actually it went so fast, that there is no reason to believe that they hadn't been informed before the statement came.

19 May 2026 16:07:23
I won't argue. Just telling what I know from my friend.
I have lost interest in this saga anyways. I don't claim to be ITK and I won't ever. But my friend certainly is a ManCity ITK.

If players were dead against Slot, he would have been off by now. It's not the case. Likes on SM mean BS.

19 May 2026 16:26:34
Currently Iraola and Hoeness are the only managers LFC are talking to, I've been told.

Slot will depart on "good" terms.

I've heard more noise regarding Iraola than Hoeness.

But, the most important detail is Hoeness is keen.

Cheers.

19 May 2026 16:53:06
Thank you for the information, Robbo.

I find Hoeness more appealing than Iraola.
