Now he's left, I can tell you he has been a big problem behind the scenes since last summer. Akin to a child throwing a tantrum because he wasn't getting what he wanted. He was meddling in things he shouldn't of been because he didn't know what he was doing. Gordon and Hogan were not happy with the way he was acting, as if they went against them he would go running to Big John. It caused issues with Hughes, especially when it came to the appointing of a replacement for Slot and the farce that was the Jan transfer window.

Him being still here skewed the planning for the summer also, as he was asked to help with recruitment but refused point blank to get involved in any recruitment business. He was to due to leave when Hughes does after the window shuts but that seems to have changed.

All a bit of a farce if you ask me.

Out of respect for the exec that told me this earlier in the summer, I didn't post anything about it before now. I have info from the same guy on Hughes but that will wait till he's gone. ?

Fields, does this give Hughes a bit of a pass if all being said about Edwards, or is he still a massive part of the problem?
It does sound like Edwards was hampering Hughes last summer and beyond.

10 Jul 2026 17:11:45
Thanks thefields .Edwards sounds like a twat (that's polite for c**t) good riddance!

10 Jul 2026 17:32:49
Just out of interest, Fields, does your contact know you post on here? Just wondering if they feel it as a good way to engage with fans passively and away from mainstream media, or do they not really care/see it as significant?

10 Jul 2026 18:02:12
Grino, Hughes is part of the problem, but how much of that was down to Hughes meddling is another thing. I imagine he would have a bit more freedom to do what he wants now.

Todd, people like agents and reps don't give a toss, but coaching staff, execs don't like stuff being posted. So I don't tell them. ?

10 Jul 2026 18:09:47
Respect TF. ? ?

10 Jul 2026 17:26:15
Cheers Fields, great post mate. Not a single word of that surprises me one bit. He always came across as an argumentative little brown-nosing, problem-starting c**t to me. I was shocked when the club brought him back, especially after the trouble he caused with Klopp. Thank Fowler he's gone.

I hope now all those who've been defending him and making him out to be some sort of transfer guru will kop on some. Looking forward to the future without him, will be very interesting to see what the club does long term. Do you know is Gordon back on board on a sort of temporary basis or too early to say?

10 Jul 2026 18:23:03
Thanks as ever to the true ITK's!

10 Jul 2026 18:24:48
Cheers Fields, was Edward's why we didn't go for Alonso?

10 Jul 2026 18:27:50
I would just like for us to sign someone. I know I am being impatient, but it is because I am... impatient. Let's get it sorted, lads, and sign some players to beef up this squad a bit. I'd happily go for a few £30m players that will run their socks off rather than spend all summer trying to get £120m player signed and then realise that we have missed a load of other targets.

Fran Garcia went to some team in Spain for £5m euro, as far as I know. That would have been a good start, I think, but what do I know.

10 Jul 2026 18:31:55
Thank you.

It may be bizarre, but his leaving and the chaos at the club is really consistent with what I was told and shared here a few days ago (the extremely long message).
Not saying this to get credibility, also or riding the wave at your expense.
Because, as I said there, it was a one time only thing that I don’t think I will ever have the chance to occur again, as I am not connected in any sort of way.

But just for the sake of people who said I was making stuff up.

But I think (own opinion, nothing else) the him leaving will probably change things behind the scenes, so what I shared probably won’t be relevant any more (if some people are getting curious and went to check what I shared).

Thank you for sharing.

What an absolute clown he is. Hughes next.
I blame those 2 idiots miles more than I blame Slot. Arne was just doing his job, as horrendous as it was. He should've been sacked by those above him

And like I said in summer. Arne must go. Edwards must go. And Hughes must go. And if they don't, the Fingers will point to FSG.

I'm so happy they still have the best intentions of LFC at heart, because I would have been 100% FSG out had they gone into another Premier League season with those 3 unscathed after that disgrace

10 Jul 2026 18:44:25
Fair play, BF9.

10 Jul 2026 18:46:20
Edwards realized he couldn't blame Klopp for the mess that happened last season and decided to dip.

10 Jul 2026 19:50:55
I am what I ami think, therefore I am.

10 Jul 2026 20:03:52
Love is chewy, 'thank Fowler he's gone.' ??.

I think Edwards massively took the credit for Ian Graham and his team. He saw his arse when he took on Klopp and the club backed Jurgen. Spoilt little weasel that throws his toys out the pram when things don't go his way.

Good riddance, hopefully Hughes follows swiftly.

10 Jul 2026 21:20:09
May I ask, was Edwards the reason we let Alonso go to Chelsea?

10 Jul 2026 21:28:20
Much appreciated, The Fields.

10 Jul 2026 21:40:47
Won't comment on Edwards, because if I'm being honest I know duck all about what he was like at his job. I know he got credit for some alltime signings in his time at the club, again I don't know whether that's warranted or not. What I will say is that 100% of the posts above honestly know as much as I do, which is sweet duck all.

It's fashionable to slate him and Hughes, again I didn't know whether that's justified. From an uneducated fan when it comes to DOF's and technical directors, from what I've seen of Edwards he won't be without a job offer for long.

10 Jul 2026 22:58:01
Where's Julian Ward at in all of this?

11 Jul 2026 00:04:03
Florian, those who keep their ear to the ground over more than just the manager and players, will tell you that what Fields has shared today is by no means the first report of Edwards throwing his toys. For every good signing that was made, there were 2 bad ones.

Everyone forgets just how many useless players we've signed in Edwards' time.

I wouldn't call it fashionable at all. There's plenty of fans who've been slating Edwards for years, myself among them.

11 Jul 2026 00:11:16
Every single word of this is a lie. Complete and utter spoofing.

And shameless clowns lapping it up.

{Ed078's Note - and you're evidence against a regular contributor who has a history of solid info?

11 Jul 2026 01:09:01
Why does everyone ask whether Edwards w the reason we let Alonso go?

Thought it had been clearly suggested that Edwards wanted Alonso, but we eventually went with keeping Slot, and then got Iraola against Edward's advice.

11 Jul 2026 01:39:36
The obsession with Alonso is silly. I love the guy, but he was always the wrong fit. He played a better version of Slot's controlled possession football, wanted full top down control, and would have needed multiple signings to play the way he likes.

It wasn't a good fit, as much as people might want it to be.

11 Jul 2026 11:19:39
The reason people pose the Edwards/Alonso question is because of the potential power struggle that many suspected may play out. It's well known that Edwards is a control freak. He had final say on transfers, and it was one of his stipulations for returning to the club following his fallout with Klopp, which was all over a power struggle in the first place.

At the same time, it was believed that Alonso was not going to be too keen on leaving his career in the hands of another overly controlling suit, considering what happened in Madrid and especially given the fact that success in his next job was key to getting his career back on track.

We saw the evidence of this when he signed for Chelsea, as the fact that he was given considerable control over transfers was the main talking point of his appointment.

If Alonso wanted considerable power over transfers, that would have ground talks to a halt. Edwards knew from his experience with Klopp that giving Alonso such power could massively weaken his position down the line. Alonso, already a fan favourite, would win over everyone from the Kop to the boardroom in a very short time had he been successful. Edwards was well aware of that.

11 Jul 2026 14:31:23
I agree with those saying Alonso wasn't a good fit for us.
He does play a controlled way - perhaps a bit quicker than Slot - but he's not front-foot attacking.

And, looking at Chelsea so far, it looks like he's going for 3 at the back.

Which I'm still waiting to see work in the PL.
