Anyone remember when Lee Bowyer was nailed down as a transfer, and Houllier killed the deal? Said he was not convinced the player had the personality we needed. Fans were disappointed.

I loved Ged as manager and probably more so as a person, but he was 100% wrong on Anelka.

Minteh will be a success at Liverpool. He will provide real danger down the right. He is Premier League proven and also works hard tracking back. Iraola will improve him as a player too.

If Houllier had put his personal pride to one side that year and signed Anelka as on perm, we probably would have won that league.
Still grates me. Anelka was amazing for us. Outshone all forwards at the time when we had him.

And the worst thing, Redroland, was that we dumped Anelka for El Hadji Diouf. Although what was less known was that Houllier and Thompson found out that Anelka's agent (his brother) was trying to get him back to Arsenal at the same time we were negotiating a permanent deal for him.
