Hi Diddly Ho,

Rio's team have had talks with Bayern Munich in the last few weeks.

Their expectation is that he renews here (LFC).

Diddly Out.

Classic agent stuff. He would be better paid and played in Germany, which 'could' influence things.
Carra's message is part of the chess game.

Agent wouldn't be doing their job if they weren't talking to other clubs. Rumour mill just likes a narrative. I doubt there is a player anywhere in the world who doesn't have a contingency or three in case things change with their current club. Agent would be stealing a living if not.

Germany are well known for giving kids a chance.

What if we sent him on loan for a season? Or am I smoking my socks?

19 Oct 2026 20:49:37
JLC, it depends on how he settles and impresses AI this season. If he's already performing at a high level (subject to us signing a new contract with him) then I would just keep him with us, knowing he'll improve some more. Like City did with Foden, we did with Sterling and (currently) doing with Dowman (albeit there may be rules on loans of kids as young as him).

If he can continue to develop and learn, I have no issues with him dovetailing appearances with Munoz, who scored a very 'Salah-esque' goal at the weekend.

20 Oct 2026 00:07:33
To me there is no end product from Rio. When was the last time he scored a goal.

20 Oct 2026 00:10:17
He's been showing real signs of becoming much more effective over last couple of games compared to early season. I'd keep him.

20 Oct 2026 02:11:53
Would you still keep him if we lost to Brighton and / or Arsenal and he had a poor game?

I said at the start of the season that he hasn't really progressed over the last two seasons and that this season was a big one for him. He needs to show that he is (starting to be) heads up in bth attack and defence. If you look at his last two or three games he is showing the beginnings of signs that he might be up to it. It'll be great if he can carry on improving across the season and there's certainly no shortage of games for him to continue to build on his good start. Let's see at the end of the season.

{Ed666's Note - if I were Rio I would sign a new contract at Liverpool and learn some footballing IQ under AI. He’s clearly a better player he was under Slot. This is not a slight on Slot as hes naturally going to improve the older he gets at this stage. Sign a 5 year deal learn your craft at one of the biggest clubs in world football and the worlds your oyster at 22. At that age you still have 6 or 7 peak years to make filthy amounts of money that the man on the street can’t even comprehend. But if he wants to go good luck to the kid I hope he’s a success wherever he ends up.

Sell him. Get 80 plus million for him. Or use as leverage for Olise to come the other way. Rio has a serious attitude problem for such a young guy, won't track back or make a tackle. The bit of flare he adds is heavily outweighed by his game without the ball.

{Ed666's Note - I’d do a Rio swap plus money for Olise. I think Olise covers two positions and he does both at a world class level. 2 for the price of 1

20 Oct 2026 04:21:39
Can't agree @666. Olive flatters to deceive imo. Plays well when his team is on top but is a passenger when things aren't going so well.

20 Oct 2026 06:23:05
So an 18 year old with a serious attitude problem, won't tackle or track back is going to bring in £ 80m with a year and a half left on his contract? This is what I've been saying for months. If LFC ever want big money for him he HAS to sign that contract.

20 Oct 2026 07:00:17
I thought rio was excellent against brentford when he came on, best I've seen him play. id certainly hope he stays no doubt in my mind a potential superstar if he puts his mind to it in the next few years.

20 Oct 2026 07:21:53
He's improving but hope he's not given an extortionate contract, his agent is obviously going to name other teams, I'd sell if he wants guaranteed playing time and massive wages.

20 Oct 2026 08:08:53
Definitely improving. Certainly ahead of what Olise was doing at the same age. Was yet to score his first goal for the mighty Reading.

20 Oct 2026 09:45:13
Who's to say Rio can't reach Olise levels by 24?
I think Rio has improved in the last few games, less stepovers and more actually running at defenders.
I think selling him or losing him for free would be a travesty.

20 Oct 2026 10:15:09
Massive L. if Liverpool let that wonder kid go. Bayern can go f. themselves.

20 Oct 2026 12:58:42
"Wonder Kid"??? Getting a tad carried away with yourself there I'd suggest.

20 Oct 2026 13:47:57
Making appearances for a Premier League team who play in the Champions League since he was 16. A team who were actually reigning champions. A first team regular by his 18th birthday. Actually the epitome of a wonder kid.

20 Oct 2026 14:39:22
We obviously have wholely different viewpoints FM. My idea of a proper "wonder kid" is say Lamine Yamal. These superlatives are being used much too often imo. akin to"Superstar" or "World Class" when anything but.

20 Oct 2026 14:51:00
Well if that's the case there's only one wonderkid in the game because Lamal is in a different level to all of them. very very high standards you go by. Lamal makes even Messi's stats at the same age look totally ordinary.

20 Oct 2026 15:46:58
He's no wonder kid, your just gettinga bit giddy there i think mate, wish he was and glad there's a few less step overs, needs much more end product before being described as great or even very good.
Hopefully he keeps his feet firmly on the ground and doesn't start thinking he's a world beater.
We need to get him signed to a long contract to deter cheap skate Madrid sniffing around or him doing another rat manover.

Hopefully we've learned out lesson now and that don't happen again without some sort of payment.
If players won't sign new contracts sell them off whilst still having time to get a good return.

20 Oct 2026 15:55:33
I agree fm, yamal is in a league of his own.
To me wonderkid is someone u18 who's plays like someone beyond his years.
There's been many over the years( as ed025 can attest to, Francis Jeffers, Wayne Rooney).
And let's not forget the original wonderkid Freddy adu.
Renato Sanchez's was another.
Not every wonderkid is Lamine yamal levels.

20 Oct 2026 17:11:16
He's not a wonder kid, he's just a very naughty boy :)

20 Oct 2026 23:33:23
As I said above, he's showing real meaningful contribution. How many of you are still saying sell him?
@mancalledhorse. Excellent??.
