I cannot believe, since June the only 2 signings have been a youngster who is at best back up to the starting 11 and a loan signing.


Jaquet was bought in January as either Konate's immediate replacement or long-term replacement for VVD, why oh why have we not had a similar plan for Salah. It appears we put all our eggs in the Diomande basket and now appear to be clueless with no plan B.


I thought at first the Minteh bid was a bluff to try to force PSG into selling us their unhappy players.

But it appears not, and considering we apparently use data to improve the squad, they must be seeing something we don't.

Yes, agree Barcola makes us better, but should he be a priority signing playing LW? What did we promise our manager to get him to sign on the dotted line? We need strength, pace and a little bit of nasty in our team. Surely our scouting system has a list as long as your arm of potential players to improve us. So walk away from PSG who appear to hold all the cards and spend the money elsewhere.

How about a midfield 3 of Tchouameni, Szoboszlai and Wirtz. Having attacking fullbabacks and midfielders was always going to be a recipe for disaster.

Literally anybody who knows how to sit in front of the back 4 and defend without the sudden urge to gallop into the opposition's box for unknown reasons would be very much welcome at this stage. Sadly, don't think it's going to happen.

Buying Isaac was vlearly an Edwards vanity purchase ie Klopp wanted Nunez but now hes here its time to get players in to service him cos he was rubbish yerterday. Edwards out too.

Pape Matar Sarr is available from following Tonali’s move to Spurs.
Apparently available for €25m.

I like him, he gives me Fabinho vibes. Tall, physical, energetic, loves to press, calm on the ball, two-footed, likes a tackle, good ball skills.


He may not be the ultimate answer to our midfield hole, but for €25m, premiership experience, there are worse shouts at this stage of the transfer window.

Never really seen him play, but seems to fit the right profile, and is 6ft tall, so would, at a pinch, be useful in defense too (if there was a defensive crisis a la 2020-21).

25m euros buys you so little these days, but was the transfer record 15 or so years ago!

Sounds like ye describing Rodri there? Great shout, though only 23 as well, signing players with motivation as well. He will want revenge on Spurs and the PL as well, no airs and graces, just does his job, likes playing against the bully boys, just the fella to dish it back. He would certainly be a good signing for the squad.

It's most obvious that we are meat and drink to all the PL bully boys (Isak, Wirtz, Ngumoha, Frimpong, Kerkez).

Possibility also with reference to Gakpo going in the other direction, though it would be brave to let Gakpo go presently as he seems to be the "only" forward we have at the moment.

Can I get some clarifications from the ITKs? Djimi T said we have walked away from Barcola. But Romano said we’re discussing it. I just feel like PSG are holding the transfer because they’re trading a very good player to a rival. Don’t want to give him a pre-season!

Read the rumours page. Ned, VG and TF have all confirmed it is done in recent days and do not understand why things are not being announced. Apparently the stumbling block was payment structure which has now been sorted, hence the frustration and confusion around the delay.

Read DjimiT's previous posts, he spent a solid week completely changing his story on a literal daily basis whilst claiming that EVERYTHING he says is 100% correct and having a go at our trusted ITK's.

In the meantime our trusted posters have all stood by their story and have all talked about how the payment structure has likely been delaying things.

Decide for yourself which one sounds more trustworthy.

Is it cold feet over Barcola from FSG?
Fee and payment terms are agreed, but nothing has happened; no official bid submitted.
Why wait till end of window? It doesn't make sense.
There has to be something else. We surely cannot walk away after 2 months of talks.
This has nothing to do with Mbaye btw. Liverpool have made no bid for Mbaye.


Why are we delaying it? Only God knows. Probably got to do with new structure not liking the price of this deal. I won't blame them; we are overpaying for Barcola by a lot.

Hopefully it's nothing to do with auspicious dates. The new guy is Indian and they have these things with dates.
