According to a few sources on X, Liverpool have made official club to club contact with Genk to sign Lucca Brughmans as new goalkeeper. Mamardashvili is out on loan to Nottingham or elsewhere.

Hughes thinks he needs to give Andoni a squad with enough depth to play once a week in the league and that’s it.

We need strength and depth and look like we’re doing a one in, one out approach to LW.

Don't forget, Bob, that the players are human, they're not robots. Richard is responsible for player welfare, I think he's doing the right thing only expecting them to play once a week. He's also being responsible with budgets, one in one out is fine and keeps us safe.

After the way he left us, am not a Trent fan but I would take him back to play right back over Frimpong and Bradley any day.
Also with Isak's goals yesterday, he is the type of striker that would gobble up chances with the right service.
Ideal world we buy two new cm and keep Szoboszlai there.

I have to admit, I am in the play Szob at rb camp. I think Nyoni and Macca might actually be our most balanced pairing. Or we could turn Macconnell into a rb and pair Szob with Nyoni.

We aren’t done yet! Finally Barcola. That one has dragged on, pig's ear of a deal but he’s gonna light up the Prem.

£85m for Gakpo is mega money. Most of us wanted him gone after last season anyway, and if we’re genuinely rebuilding the squad we want excitement, which for me he wasn’t exciting.

Camara, I think that one happens 100%.

Sarr makes more sense to me now too. Good numbers in Europe, good World Cup and proven in the Premier League. At 28 you’re buying someone ready now while the younger lads develop behind him.

We saw Munoz yesterday and he was outstanding.

Rio is naturally better from the left, Munoz from the right, and Iraola likes his forwards swapping positions and being versatile anyway. There’s a pathway there rather than buying young players just to block other young players.

That’s the bigger picture for me. We’re not just buying players, we’re rebuilding a squad while actually bringing the youth through. That’s what we’ve all wanted after last year.

Barcola done. Gakpo potentially £85m out. Camara I think happens. Sarr I think happens.

Still not sure on my mystery RB yet… but it’s going to be a wild 48-plus hours I bet.

Sorry, but I disagree with the Sarr take. He has never hit double digit goals in the Premier League. I don’t think he should be a starter at Liverpool Football Club. There is a reason why not many teams have ever been after him.

That price tag for Sarr is ridiculous. From Salah to Sarr is a major drop off in terms of creativity, goals, and consistency. 35m max for Sarr as a squad/rotation option is more understandable.

Sarr's short passing stats need improving, last 3 PL seasons 71, 70 and first year 77%, that's circa 73% accuracy, or 27 passes (a quarter, 25%) in a 100, don't find a Red shirt, long passes are way below that also. The AI system is built on short, crisp passing mainly, you cannot be sloppy with your passing, as Ryan found out last week, twice? But you have to back the manager's choice, though it seems to be his 3/4 choice.



Possession is 9/10ths of the law, they say. Just watched Chelsea win 4-3. When they beat Fulham they had 39% possession, today as the home team 25% possession, that seems to suggest scintillating football Xabi is playing? But football is all about winning at the end of the day, so job done. He has also conceded the same number of goals as us, but as Shanks always said: Attack is the best form of Defence.

I personally don't think that we will sign Camara or Sarr.

I think (and hope) we go for Minteh over Sarr and I'm not convinced that we will sign a midfielder.

Once Barcola passes his medical, the domino's will fall. Gakpo will be sold, as the left side is then sorted. They will then bring in a right sided attacker. After that, we can only hope they have other players lined up to fix the gaps in the squad.

Ever the optimist ?.

As I've said previously, the window can only be judged once it closes. Time will tell if there has been a meticulous plan all along or if it's been a complete and utter s*** show ?.

Good morning Eds and Fellow Reds

I personally can't wait till this window shuts and Iraola can get on with the job at hand. Sure we are lacking in strength in depth and there are glaring holes in the full back positions, midfield and RW but these are not going to be all sorted in the next 60 hours or so.

I like most fans am pissed off at our inability to get the players in that we require and that's down to Hughes and his team. I do believe however that we did get the most important signing right this season and signing Iraola will be the most important decision we've could have made and it will show just that in the years to come.

The man knows what he wants and expects from players and if these players aren't fit for purpose they will be moved on and replaced.

This however can not be done overnight, you can't make whole sale changes to a team or squad without it having an impact on they way we play and the impending results good or bad.

The squad and team are in a transition period, we have a lot of mediocre players in the squad who just aren't and will never be good enough, add to that we have lost Diaz, Nunez, Trent, Jota, Robbo, Konate, Jones and Salah in the last 2 seasons and looking like Gapko gone too, that's going to hurt any team. Alisson and VvD will also be gone soon and that in effect will be more or less the end of the Klopp era.

We all want for Liverpool to be successful and win things, we all want to be entertained and enjoy our football but unfortunately we have to take the rough with the smooth. Champions 2 seasons ago but a shadow of our former selves last season down to the coach, his style of play, players not being fit enough or just not giving a s##t.

We now at least have a coach who likes to play attacking football and will eventually have his players super fit this probably won't be enough to have us challenging this season but I think we are going in the right direction.

We do need someone who is capable of getting our transfers done in a quick and timely manner without getting our pants pulled down on the price or resorting to panick buying when our main targets can't be achieved.
I like everyone want us to be successful, I've been fortunate to have watched this great club be successful in the 70's and 80 ' but like most of the older posters on here remember only too well the darker times of the 90's and 2000's prior to the Klopp era.

Success is built on the foundation of hard work and honesty, finding a formation and players who fit that to play the way you want the don't all have to be world beaters the manager will turn them into that by the way they play successfully in his system, it took Klopp nearly 3 seasons to get that team together and we have to realise that the same will probably be needed for Iraola.

It doesn't come overnight and buying a new team in one transfer window doesn't always fix the problems, you just have to look at Spurs at the minute to see this 1st hand.

In closing do I think we are weak in certain area's going into this new season yes 100%, do I think we have spent badly last season buying luxury players and not addressing the glaring holes in the team/squad yes 100%, do I think this could be another tough season to endure yes 100%.

But I believe that we have the right Manager in place to deliver us back to where we need to be, to get us fit and playing an attractive style that we will all love to see, if we get the right DOF in to assist him in the next 2 to 3 windows then we should be in a good place for years to come. But its going to take time lads patience is a virtue and Rome wasn't built in a day.Try to take the positives out, let's get behind this manager, his ideas, his team and see where it takes us and hopefully we all end up in a great position of success once again.

Challenge for any new director of football will be to work within the same FSG guidelines as Hughes. It could be as difficult for them to replace the list in this market. Also, given Hughes has made quite a few big mistakes, it makes it harder in some ways for his successor as they're stuck with some duds on big contracts.

I also think Alison and VVD will be as hard as Mo to replace, if not more so, as there's just no one out there we can afford or get.



I like Iraola, but don't like the team performances so far. He needs some time, but he's only on a 2 year deal.

The fans won't blame Iraola if the poor form continues for a few months, but we just won't put up with mediocrity for 3 windows, which would be the end of next season. He needs to turn it around this season, and as he's on a short deal, a decision needs to be taken on him and by him at the end of this season whether he's staying beyond 27/28.

Didn't see that.

I did see the ref, the assistant and Oliver all fail to notice Delap's foul throw though.

And I saw that for Wirtz disallowed goal, a Forest player made a deliberate attempt to play the ball, and therefore Frimpong was onside.



And I also saw the ref begin to run away from the penalty shout only to turn back towards the box and point to the spot.

Nearly all throws are foul throws these days, to be fair, it is something that is totally overlooked.
I am not convinced that was a penalty, hard to see if Ali touched him, but he had already played the ball and made his shot, so Ali's touch never prevented a goal scoring opportunity... therefore no pen!
