Don't shoot the messenger but received this info off a club steward who claims to be ITK.

Liverpool sold Coutinho to Barcelona 2 weeks ago for £140m deal. Barcelona agreed to Coutinho going on 01/ 09 so that Liverpool did not have to pay a premium for players with other teams knowing they had this money to spend. Liverpool also felt the fans would not be as upset if Liverpool had signed two or three more players and Coutinho had "forced" the deal through. Coutinho had his medical 2 weeks ago and the agreement was that he would not play another game and would go to Barcelona straight from the international break. Barcelona have agreed to form a relationship with Liverpool over transfers also as part of the deal. Namely if they are prepared to let players go they would inform Liverpool first.

Wow. That steward must've had some heavy involvement in the negotiations to know the ins and outs to that level of detail. Good for him. #morethanjustaHiViz.

Believable but I just hope we spend the money on trying to get some reinforcements. A CB and a cout replacement.

If not it won't matter how they tried to paint it to the fans that Coutinho forced the move, the majority of the fan base won't like it.

We'll know tomorrow if your source is a good oner. Might get your own page! I'm thinking it could be true. But wondering if there is a prerequisite of us getting lemar. Hoping.

4.) 31 Aug 2017 12:21:06
'Form a relationship with Liverpool' - one where we sell them our best players. Would that be that old relationship
called buggery?

5.) 31 Aug 2017 12:23:59
We won't b signings anyone else lemar an vvd have same problem there ckubs don't want too sell despite players wanting too come, can't believe we aren't after a cb.

6.) 31 Aug 2017 12:29:37
Someone posted a similar rumour yesterday, and ED002 said that he had heard of something similar by people he deems knowledgable on this. let's hope we sort our replacements in time then.

7.) 31 Aug 2017 12:32:25
Are you sure the steward doesn't just read this website as well?

8.) 31 Aug 2017 12:35:27
Wouldnt this make klopp and the management look like fools after months of 'not for sale at any cost' to turn around and say 'just kidding we sold him 2 weeks ago! '? Makes little sense.

9.) 31 Aug 2017 12:57:30
They obviously won't announce he was sold 2 weeks ago will They!

Every player has a price particularly when they show a desire to move.

Good luck to him and Thanks!

10.) 31 Aug 2017 13:22:45
Prepared to let players go, if their release list is anything to go by I would rather not have any relationship.

11.) 31 Aug 2017 13:42:25
If this is true there should be an additional page called "HiVis Rumours" like Macca rumours xD.

I don't get the FSG bashing. What have they done wrong since they come in? Brought in the most sought after manager in Europe, made funds available, paid the right wages, increased the stadium. I think it's obvious they've given Klopp a big budget based on the Keita and VVD bids and if they were just interested in money surely they'd sell Cout?
If Klopp chooses not to spend the money that's not the owners fault. To me they seem to be doing everything right.

I have to agree with you. I think what the owners have done for the club is nothing but brilliant. Again I agree, made funds available (large funds may I add) investing in the club by extending the stadium but most of all, saving us from when we was nearly down the drain hole! Anyone who is bashing the owners needs to read up and look what they have done for the club and are continuing to do for the club for the future. For sure one day they will sell up but for me, they will go down as fantastic owners due to the facts above.

2.) 18 Aug 2017 17:25:39
Short memories people seem to forget to easily what a poor state we were in when they arrived. Personally I think they worked wonders.

3.) 18 Aug 2017 17:52:17
FSG definitely split opinion of LFC fans. I enjoy reading both sides of the story regarding people's views.

4.) 18 Aug 2017 18:58:37
I think the only thing you could say that haven't done well enough is the hiring of the right people to oversee the day to day running of the club, that and from what I have read not doing more to get involved in the local community engaging the local fans of tomorrow, we could learn a thing or two from Everton who seem to be good at this.

I don't get all this 'worst window ever' stuff. If we sell it'll be the biggest profit ever on a player. On a player we'll miss, but not as much as everyone seems to think. Mane was the player we missed the most last season, and look at our stats without Cout. 3 goals against watford and created umpteen chances against Hoff. We've been missing a number 9 and rock solid leader at the back for 2 seasons. We get that and sell cout we'll be a stronger team.

My personal worry is that Klopp isn't strengthening were we need and we won't sign anyone when PC does go.

PC goes, Moreno goes, VVD or similar, proper number 9 and a goalie and I'd be satisfied.

Whereas it won't be as bad as the Cole/ Poulsen/ Konchesky window, potentially selling Coutinho, missing out on centre midfield and defence targets and not having a clue what to do with any potential funds from the sale of Coutinho would make it pretty bad one.

2.) 17 Aug 2017 18:12:42
Solanke proper number 9. Have you been sleeping?
He is good.

3.) 17 Aug 2017 18:14:44
It's a poor window because Liverpool identified several key areas to improve and only 1 thus far has been adequately strengthened.

Robertson is raw but a good acquisition and Salah is a starter.

We're still soft at the back and lack a commanding CM with some steel to cover that fragile defense.

Selling Coutinho would be atrocious even if we had a replacement - without him, it's absolutely ludicrous.

I think our lack of activity and willingness to pursue other targets after Saints and Leipzig (if Rangnick is to be believed) refused to sell will cost us long term.

Rumour round Anfield from one of the academy boys so maybe taken with a pinch of salt.
Coutinhio will NOT be leaving unless he forces the deal. However, if this is the case Mahrez will be the man we look to, not Lanzini.
IMO £100m profit from coutinhio, who has tendencies to go missing in games and replacement of last years player of the year wouldn't be terrible.

So you want to replace a player who in your opinion goes missing in some games with a player who goes missing for whole seasons?

2.) 09 Aug 2017 15:51:35
Mahrez was woeful at times last season and went missing an awful lot more than Coutinho did. Plus he is a winger.

If Pip does go I would want to go for a world class striker or central midfielder.

I would move heaven and earth to try and sign Alli, Vidal, Lewandowski, Mbappe or Griezmann.

All of which are likely not possible (Eds can you confirm? ) in which case I would stick with what we have and look again in January/ next summer.

3.) 09 Aug 2017 15:59:23
I would take Mahrez. But don't think it will be true.

4.) 09 Aug 2017 16:10:23
Coutinho is world class. Barcelona are not desperate to spend 100 million for a player who goes missing. He's our best player and losing him with 3 days until we kick off our season would be indeed terrible. There is nothing good to come from losing Coutinho this transfer window, not 100 mill, Mahrez, Lanzini. nothing. I get it, it's moral and credible to look for positives and claim he isn't irreplaceable, but losing Coutinho would be a disaster for this seasons campaign. We will be right back to square one, a selling, unambitious club waiting to cash in on the next superstar we create rather than win trophies.

5.) 09 Aug 2017 16:13:07
Hazard had an off season before the last one.

RedDawn. I would agree with you, but in reality when was the last time we bought a ready made world class player? We haven't won anything for a while, the only over way to convince these players we would have to pay over the odds which we won't do this year as there is loads of other clubs with more money.

6.) 09 Aug 2017 18:09:12
Mahrez, Lanzini, Meyer, Rakitic, Sigurdsson are all supremely inferior to Cou so they are non starters. BTW, SG84 is right. Those thinking Cou is not irreplaceable are fooling themselves, Why? None of the players touted above can remotely do the things Cou does for us and the creative influence he has in our team. The only two players I see who can do that are Eriksen and Sanchez.

Also, letting Cou go would be suicide. Don't think for one second that we will not struggle without him. That is total BS. Why? Cos there is no Mane or Firmino w/ o him. and his relationship with Salah alone this preseason is mouth-watering, that's why. We will be unable to cope without him, period. We would not have made top 4 without him, end of. He should not be sold, end of story.
