Rather underwhelming for some I understand, but Liverpool have been given permission to talk with Kalvin Phillips, it seems The Fabinho saga will be over these coming days, as I have heard a bid of £40+ has been accepted and Klopp has given the green light as long as his replacement is underway.

Ridiculous.

If it's Kalvin Phillips as well as someone else I'd have no problem with it. If we'd signed him last season I'd have said it's a very good signing, can't write him off after one year. Strangely enough at the Euros with England, I thought he was the more impressive performer than Declan Rice.

{Ed025's Note - really thomas?, i think hes awful mate..

3.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 08:56:53
Talking to him is one thing but doubt it goes any further. Unless he can prove he's in good shape surely we'll find more suitable options. He was decent under Bielsa though.

4.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 09:32:18
I don't mind him personally, nothing special but I do think he's decent.

5.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 09:32:38
As you say, , underwhelming unless he a) comes with a small fee (£25m or less) and Klopp is convinced he will work his balls off to get fit and b) someone like Lavia comes too. KP provides the experience and Lav and Bak can grow into the position.

17 Jul 2023 09:36:45
K Philips ain’t happening where do we get this nonsense from.

7.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 09:34:27
Kalvin Phillips is a poor trainer who lost his enthusiasm. Hence the out of shape and unfit version we have seen before he got his big move to City. If he is the best we can do at of all the players out there then underwhelmed is an understatement.

8.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 09:38:17
It’s not the signing we want! If we got him cheap and got another very good midfielder then ok I suppose. But I can’t see city selling him cheap. There’s so much better out there to had.

9.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 09:41:47
We could just sign Philips on loan and not play him all season like Arthur Melo. Thought he was excellent on the bench for City last season. Some quality facial expressions.

10.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 09:49:50
Environmental, training your ass off and playing every minute is totally different to struggling in a team of superstars with a manager who doesn't like you. That kid could be top class of handled right. If Klopp wants him he sees something.

{Ed025's Note - who are you trying to convince kjh...us or yourself?..

11.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 10:02:43
Ah hang on, look who posted the rumour!

Firminosteeth has a 100% record, of being wrong with his rumours!

I think Virgil_2018 (not sure if he's still around or changed username) best summed it up a few years back "Got to hand it to you, you always keep coming back even though they never turn out to be true lol. "

So, we can rest easy!

12.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 10:18:09
Hope it's true. was great under Bielsa. All this stuff about him being a poor trainer because of a soundbite from Pep. I know some people in the 1st team setup at Leeds who only ever praised his work ethic and commitment for years.

13.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 10:21:05
Kalvin Phillips of a couple years ago wouldn't be so bad but I feel that he’s on a bit of a downward trajectory right now.
Always happy to be proved wrong but we shall have to wait and see.

14.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 10:25:01
Zed, I don't claim to know everything, it's a site for rumours and information, sometimes things materialise, sometimes they don't, if its possible to search my posts you will see the information I had on Alisson and Keita at the time, turned out not too bad didn't it.

Have a lovely day.

15.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 10:35:20
You're dead right, Firminosteeth, this is a rumours site. Always better to have some substance to a rumour, like "I read it on xyz site" or "my mate who is Klopp's hairdresser heard him on the phone" etc.

Otherwise, for all we know, you could just be regurgitating the usual clickbait that we all read on Newsnow or The Echo.

Just pointing out to other concerned fans that your hit rate doesn't seem to have been accurate, at least not in the last 5 years.

Happy to eat my hat if I'm wrong, but I will rest a little easier now as I'd prefer to look to other places other than Kalvin Phillips personally.

16.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 10:52:11
Wasn't Firminosteeth the guy that was caught conversing with his own sock puppet account a few years ago?
Whoever it was made himself look a total numpty.

17.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 11:01:17
I am not against Phillips because of something Pep said about his weight as to be honest, as a professional athlete I'm sure he is better shape than me! However, I do think there should be some serious concerns about the signing if our biggest challenger for trophies is willing to sell him for pretty much what they bought him for after only a year. This coupled with the fact that he is not only not getting picked by his manager, but his manager did openly criticise him in public. Just feels like a bit of a red flag to me.

On the other side of this, I guess he did have his fair share of injuries and was also trying to break into a MF containing some of the best players in the world in his position.

18.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 11:10:13
Apparently he wants to stay at City and fight for his place. In an ideal world he wins.

19.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 11:34:03
Yes he was, Flash.

20.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 12:08:57
Kalvin Phillips is a very good player, not the best, but good. If Jurgen and his team think he's right for us, im not going to argue. Some of the previous signings fans have questioned and they, usually, turn out fine. In Jurgen I trust.

21.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 12:24:45
I want to hear the sock puppet story.

22.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 12:49:48
I don’t want Phillips, but if it does happen let’s get behind him. You never know he may have a point to prove.

23.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 13:57:21
It will go down as a poor transfer if it happens. Worrying the club would make such a move, and snacks somewhat of desperation.

24.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 14:08:11
Surely it can’t be true.

25.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 14:18:39
Leeds was his level.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely Ron..

26.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 15:36:26
Even Leeds were a higher level than him for me.

27.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 16:16:49
Eds, has anyone else shown an interest in phillips?

{Ed002's Note - Leeds.}

28.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 18:29:28
thomas194, you have no problem with an injury-prone player who played next to NO minutes last season and who has had weight issues to the point of his manager fat-shaming him in public? Yikes!

29.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 19:32:00
I don’t get the manager doesn’t like him, didn’t he payout 50 mill on the player to Leeds.

Pep probably got so frustrated at him for wasting his talent so went public to try and get him motivated.

30.) 17 Jul 2023
17 Jul 2023 22:03:58
The only way I see this happening is because of a rock bottom price and his helping with the home grown requirements. But then Lavia is home grown too.

Wonders never cease and this is football.

18 Jul 2023 00:24:47
If we do sign K. Phillips let's wrap it up early, put him through his paces so he can be ready for the 2024/ 25 season.
