{Ed002's Note - Stuttgart rejected an approach from Bayer Leverkusen for Filip Kostic in January who they said was not for sale. Anderlecht's Acheampong will need replacing in the summer and with the club in a financially strong position they may have started watching Kostic - a player they were interested in when his career at Groningen had turned a little sour at the start of 2014. I cannot see them being successful.
I am not aware of any plans to see Milner leave in the summer.}

Dear ed002 sorry if i missed the point of your answer but why is it that we paid significantly over his release clause to get Firmino?
{Ed002's Note - The release clause can only be invoked by a side in the same country (the law under which it was written). Some clubs use it as a guideline and say they will not sell for less - but clubs from outside of the jurisdiction cannot force a sale - it needs to be agreed.}

{Ed002's Note - Bayer Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi's was previously looked at by West Ham, Montpellier and Chelsea but interest from those sides went when he signed a new long-term contract last year. Both Arsenal and Manchester City made their interest known to Bayer Leverkusen both in the summer and leading up to the January window. It is possible that Arsenal could try and get further talks going.}

In short Klopps been looking to sign one but potential deals for Chilwell and Amavi fell through over price and look to have gone cold. Hector is widely rumoured as a target but Eds are not as convinced much is going on there and he's seen as expensive. We've been loosely linked with a couple of others like Rodriguez but it's possible we may not be able to get someone in this window and end up using Milner there as a stop-gap.

really think that we will do quite well, this coming season, and I can see all the new lads fitting in well, but, because of the failure to bring in the right players, injuries, think we just might fall short of the top four, as there are four or five teams that might have a more balanced squad than ours, but I am sure that the following season, we will definitely get champions League, that's just as I see it panning out .

Morning eds, just wondered your thoughts, do u think klopp will keep benteke next season 2 c if he can adapt to his style, or do u think klopp will sell him? If he does sell him will they buy another striker or will they go with ings, sturridge and origi and may b buy a winger? Also can u see markovic returning or do u think they will sell him?! Thanx.
{Ed001's Note - I expect Klopp to look to sell Benteke, but not to replace him unless some gem becomes available. Markovic is likely to leave but it is not certain yet.}

Do you see buying a left back a priority?
I mean we have Smith, flanno, Gomez and Moreno on the books, surely we can go into next season without buying?
I know there are issues with all 4 players (young and raw, coming back from injury X2 and inconsistent and always out of position) but if we rotate we can pick whoevers on form.
Or do you think Klopp wants a consistent performer?
I fear if we buy in this position now it limits the development of smith, Gomez and flanno.
{Ed001's Note - we have to prioritise it, Gomez is a centre back, Flanno is a right back and Smith is one player, you can't go through a season with one left back. Moreno needs to go, he has shown he does not have the intelligence to reach the level we need.}

How many players do u think we will sign in the summer? N do u all think we need a new spine of a team? Personally i think we have the basics there. Just a new goalkeeper we have matip commin in the summer. I think klopp wil add a right sided winger then i think he will go with that. wouldn't mind seeing xhaka commin tho if we could get him.

Imagine it is more about who will go. When everything be returns from loan have long list of players who's futures have to be decided.
If matip signs imagine it means at most we will look for a GK, a winger and maybe a striker. With grujic our midfield is overloaded so definitely think we have to ship a few there.
Think we should assess what we have and what roles everyone plays in the team (eg I like lallana as a player but don't think he adds much to the team) move on those who don't fit and try improve the starting XI.

I don't care who we sign because i trust klopp to at least sign players with heart, balls and character who will be indespensable to the team no matter what their ball control is on fifa.
Also i believe spine's are grown over time with stability, not bought. The only reason you saw lucas act like a proper leader yesterday was because he was by far the longest serving player in the team.
Matip on a free seems to be good business but we shall have to see.
Also holes in the squad could be filled depending on which young players step up in the final few games.
I think goalkeeper is a must, fullbacks will have to be assessed at the end of the year but the general feeling is that our current pair are very poor. If skrtel leaves, another centre back could come in. I think that another holding midfielder is needed at least, our current centre mids play all the same game, all huffing and puffing, i'm not sure amy academy players are ready for the role right now. I imagine that, if markovic is indeed sold, a proper winger will be bought, as we only have one in the form of jordon ibe. Up front, even if benteke leaves, we have enough.
Theres a lot of players needed but with the sheer amount of players leaving, coupled with the stepping up of academy talent, i do think a major overhaul is possible, just don't flip if they're mostly shrewd signings rather than 45 million plus players.

I can see Subotic coming in to partner Matip and someone to freshen things up in midfield.
Much depends on champions league. If we get that then better players will come like Götze.

No one knows but if he preferred to play Firmino as a lone striker and leave Benteke on the bench I think he is unlikely to keep him if and when Sturridge, Origi and Ings are fit.
The question is where will he go. I don't see any team pay us even half of what we paid for him (unless the Chinease maybe? ) and I don;t think we will sell him very cheaply. The likely solution in my view is some kind of a loan deal similar to Balotelli.

This is what you get when you sign a player only because he plays well against you. That is the dumbest strategy I've ever heard of and only incompetency managers like BR can do such thing. If a player plays well often against you, it says more about your manager and his tactical incompetence to contain such a player and less about the players overall ability. Bogdan is another example of such incompetence. Bolasie and Gayle have good games when CP plays us. Should we sign them too? With BR in charge, may be. Now, Benteke is persona non grata according to Klopp and will be shipped out on loan or sold at a significant loss like Carroll was. Hopefully, Klopp will end this useless strategy and actually get the scouting team to do their jobs rather than getting lazy and sign a player only because we can't contain him when we play them.

Certanly be an intresting summer. I knw klopp has stated he need wingers he said that b 4 the 1st leg of the europa legue tie with augsburg. So 1 or 2 wingers will come. Add a gk and hopefully add xhaka 2 that if we can.
