Hi Eds, I've been reading recent paper talk and seen links to Timo Werner, is there any truth to to theses rumours? As I feel he'd be a better alternative to Lacazette (who I previously said I wanted us to sign) based on what I've seen of him recently and on highlights. Also what are your thoughts on him? Thank you in advance.

{Ed002's Note - RBL's Timo Werner was of interest to Spurs before he left Stuttgart but that interest seems to have gone. The German press have been asking Werner about Liverpool but he has remained respectful about the club but has not mentioned any interest. RBL have said nothing since they mentioned that scouts from Chelsea and Liverpool attended a game in December where Werner scored against Hertha Berlin and in January Liverpool and Dortmund scouts watched him score against Eintracht Frankfurt. Given he only joined RBL last summer and his season is going well with Leipzig more than likely being in the Champions League next season, RBL will not be looking to sell and I doubt he will be looking for a move.}

Thank you.

With the talk of Ox, Robertson, Keita and VVD signing for us by the end of the window. I'd like to hear people's thoughts on how well we've done (if we sign these players on top of Salah and solanke) because personally I think it would be a very good window and not only would we added quality and depth we'd also give ourselves options to play different formations and experiment, something I think would be a key against teams which are harder to break down. So I would be very happy if that was our business this window. Then next summer I'd add a quality LB, Striker and GK (depending on Karius and Mignolet this season) looking forward to the new season YNWA.

1.) 14 Jul 2017 22:30:14
Personally think the pressure is on Bobby to step up the striker role, I'd love to see him smash it as I believe he does have real quality but consistent goal scoring is an area he's been lacking so if that doesn't change then maybe a forward in January or next summer. Though hopefully out of the 5 strikers we have at the moment one can step up consistently, saving us big money.

2.) 14 Jul 2017 22:37:13
Agree on Bobby HX. As brilliant as he is he needs to see the goal a bit more. Tonight was a prime example passing instead of shooting. A true goal scorer would've had a hat trick tonight it was there for him. He has it in him he just needs a mind change from provider to scorer.

3.) 14 Jul 2017 22:37:20
I'd agree with that 100%.

4.) 14 Jul 2017 22:41:45
As exciting as a couple of those signings are, personally I'm disappointed we didn't go for a world class LB. I'd agree that MIlner did enough to deserve another go there and Robertson may well prove to be that signing. But, we have money and CL football, something that no the guaranteed next summer window, this was the opportunity and feels missed.

I'm more interested, as none of those make me feel wow, what is going to happen to our 'talents' like TAA, Grujic, Gomez, Ward, Ojo, Wilson, Woodburn etc. I'm far more excited to see more of them and if they become their hype over Robertson or Ox.

{Ed025's Note - i suppose some people are never happy then max, i think if you get VVD, keita as well as salah and solanke it will be a tremendous window for the reds and even robertson will improve the side, i dont wish to be rude but you sound like a spoilt brat to me who will never be happy...sad really mate..

5.) 14 Jul 2017 22:57:15
I love how fluid our attack can be, mane firmino and salah with coutinho behind is just crazy!
If we get Robertson, VVD and keita I'd be pinching myself to wake up. 3/ 5 garunteed starters. And young promising striker. And a natural lb suited to the prem. what more could you ask for.

6.) 14 Jul 2017 23:00:47
Great window if all come off.

7.) 14 Jul 2017 23:00:55
Sense from a blue Ed? What's the world coming to? ;-)

{Ed025's Note - i dont want us to absolutely walk the league HT i want at least a bit of competition mate.. :)

8.) 14 Jul 2017 23:01:35
Have to agree with Ed025 if we got said players he mentioned I'd be delighted with this window.

9.) 14 Jul 2017 23:11:12
You might have to wait until next season to walk the league Ed! You lot will do well in the championship ;-)

{Ed025's Note - we shall see my friend, the city belongs to the blues now HT and our time is very afraid.. :)

10.) 14 Jul 2017 23:26:45
If they all sign it will be the best window in years! Robertson deserves a chance, just because he doesn't have a foreign name and cost a fortune doesn't mean he will be a failure. Solid young full back in my opinion and as posted recently, we've had some brilliant full backs on the cheap from lesser clubs. Rob Jones, Steve Finnan, JA Risse. let's hope he can be added to that list in the future! Exited by the news but not getting ahead of myself, nothing is final on any of the dealings yet.

11.) 14 Jul 2017 23:29:30
If we do manage to get VVD and Keita, I'd say that not only will it have been a successful summer window, but we'd be on our way to becoming real threats for EPL titles and a European powerhouse once again. Everything points in that direction. A hungry ambitious competent manager with a long term contract, a squad of young players with unquestioned individual skills and a style of football that is always a pleasure to watch. Sounds like hyperbole and exaggeration, but that's what I think.

12.) 14 Jul 2017 23:49:57
Thanks for the personal snipe 0025, very big of you. Thought it was ok to reply with honest opinions on the banter page? If Robertson is the big signing for the weakest position we have, then we're doing really well then. Keita has had one season to warrant £70m and Ed002, an ED I do respect, doesn't rate VVD which considering our public statement seems to further the embarrassment. Salah looks good, but was third choice
But yeah I guess not being moist for that makes me spoilt?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are doing what they can.}

13.) 14 Jul 2017 23:56:05
Put it this way if we sign those players realistically a good season would be 1) Winning FA or EFl cup (or both, unlikely though) 2) having a serious title challenge (hopefully we can win the PL, but wouldn't be too disappointed with a top 3 finish) 3) getting out of the group stages of CL (should we get past the qualifying round, still feel like we could get a QF spot) 4) try and give TAA, Grujic, Woodburn and Gomez a real chance next season (as I feel it's vital to play young players and they are our 4 best youngsters) some people might think that's too ambitious or not ambitious enough but I think that would be a very good season.

14.) 15 Jul 2017 01:56:35
Max your response kinda proves his point tbf, salah third choice or not is an excellent catch and ed1 has been wrong on occasion. If we pull off vvd and keita and keep our best players i seriously think we have a squad that could challenge. I makes me moist 😆

Dont let mk's negativity about keita's one season cloud your judgement. Ronaldo before he went to united was a one season wonder and look how that turned out. He is a talented young man who will just keep getting better and better. If we don't get him bayern or dortmund will snap him up and it will be another one we will look at in years to come and say damn that was another one that escaped us.

Vvd while being a bit adventurous at times is built like a barn door and could add the power at the back we have missed since sami retired. I like the fact that we have identified the missing pieces to the jigsaw as klipperty sees it and he has klopped to his guns in their pursuit albeit illegal at times but he knows what he wants 😂.

14 Jul 2017 11:16:47
Just been watching Sky Sports and they have said that Liverpool are negotiating with Southampton about sigining VVD and also Liverpool bid 57mil for Keita which was rejected and will continue to discuss this transfer with RBL. If this is true then I have to say well done Klopp and FSG. Hopefully a LB will be brought in too as well as Ox (I still feel he could be good for us)

1.) 14 Jul 2017 11:28:35
Eds has said we had the offer fir Keita turned down but I can't see that we are talking to Saints regarding VVD given our statement.

{Ed002's Note - It was some South African who said it on Twitter.}

2.) 14 Jul 2017 11:45:01
Gah. Where's Alansbarnet when you need him?

3.) 14 Jul 2017 11:46:40
If it's true that we are talking to saints and pushing through a move for VVD as well as Keita then those 2 players improve our starting xi, just a left back needed and we'll have a good enough squad to compete on all fronts next season. I still think ox would be a good signing but if we are going all out to try and get Keita then I'd be happy with either allowing Kent to stay and Ojo and they can act as cover on wings, or alternatively go out a buy Pulisic who is better than our youngsters but not quite at mane or salahs level, that's just my opinion though. Solanke, Salah, VVD, Keita, LB (likely to be Robertson) and ox would be a very very good window. YNWA.

4.) 14 Jul 2017 11:49:57
Cheers ed. Pleased im not on Twitter tbh.

5.) 14 Jul 2017 12:36:03
If we are talking to Soton in any way I hope it's in the form of a very long and heartfelt apology speech.

If we are still interested in VVD then I really hope that the conversation is going something like this "We are really really sorry for being total clueless ignorant arses. Is there any way that this can be resolved amicably between us? " And if they say no then we just move on and leave it.

6.) 14 Jul 2017 13:58:27

Alansbarnet did actually make a proclamation that Keita will sign by mid next week 😂😂
It came over onto to the banter site.

7.) 14 Jul 2017 14:21:43
This is not a surprise. Klopp ain't going to do a Brendan. He doesn't have any alternative list. It's simple! I expect Keita to happen without a doubt!

8.) 14 Jul 2017 14:26:45
Probably 60 million of them RedDawn.

Its Unpalatable to us normal folk,
but like it or not, that's how our leaders choose to deal.

9.) 14 Jul 2017 14:38:57
When will people get over this Southampton apology nonsense. We've already apologised, publicly, so now their players are fair game again provided everything is done via the proper channels. let's not pretend we're the only club to have ever done something wrong but I don't see why we need to keep apologising.

05 Jul 2017 12:52:02
Just a thought but with us looking for a CB if neither VVD or koulibaly came in would anybody take Zouma on loan? With the view to buying him? Just seen an article sayin he wants to go on loan, the guy is quick, strong and good defensively. Probably an upgrade on Lovren imo.

1.) 05 Jul 2017 13:42:52
I don't rate Zouma personally but a loan to buy could be worth the risk. If he flops, Lovren and Matip are still alright for another season.

2.) 05 Jul 2017 16:55:29
He's coming back from injury just like Joe Gomez so I don't see the point of signing such a player while not giving ours (with the same issues) a chance.

22 Jun 2017 19:12:36
If Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain (I think it'll happen), left back (any of tierney, mendy or ghoulam who I think we should look at) and a CB (say Van Dijk) would people class that as a successful window for us? Because I would! Although some people will want a 20+ goal a season striker, I don't think that's necessary right now nor would we have to funds available to buy one. There could be a shout for another winger and I wouldn't be against signing 2 wingers this window! Maybe Pulisic (not sure if we still hold interest) as he's young and imo is better than our current youngsters so I'd maybe like to see us go for him. Thoughts?

1.) 22 Jun 2017 19:17:43
Klopp fell out with perisic at Bvb . Think we are fine on the wingers if we get and will get salah.

2.) 22 Jun 2017 19:19:25
I think Oxlade Chamberlain would be a waste of money, as he's a very average winger and is absolutely ineffective in centre midfield, jack of all trades and master of none he doesn't have the intelligence or the skillset to be a centre midfielder and never will.

3.) 22 Jun 2017 19:45:11
Spending anything over £6m on Ox would be a waste, would tarnish the window as he is rubbish and will stop someone getting game time.

Otherwise that would be a good window, on one condition. If Sturridge cannot regain fitness then Jan window we do go for a 20+ goal striker.

Must must buy a top level LB otherwise it's another wasted window and massive lack of ambition.

4.) 22 Jun 2017 19:50:33
Salah and Solanke is a good start, don't get me wrong. But we need to sign Keita, VVD and a decent left back to make it a great one. Of course if somehow Auba could be snuck in then that would be an amazing window.

5.) 22 Jun 2017 20:06:22
Can't see kieta signing personally. As much as I want it to happen I don't see how he fits in the team without a couple of midfielders leaving. I'd happily lose Lucas, Stewart and potentially a grujic loan (if that's possible with work permit etc) to see kieta wearing our famous red jersey.

6.) 22 Jun 2017 20:38:47
£6 million? Laughable figure for a player of his age and Premier league experience.

04 Jun 2017 12:14:03
Hi Eds if we were going to sign a CB (I'm not saying we are) who would you prefer us to sign as a realistic player?

{Ed025's Note - keane of burnley maybe?..

1.) 04 Jun 2017 13:40:09
Thank you. wouldn't be a bad shout.

{Ed025's Note - he will only cost about £30m ted...bloody hell my first house in wavertree cost £5000...the world has gone mad mate.. :)

2.) 04 Jun 2017 13:45:04
I'd rather we line up with you as our new CB ed025. Keane is a die hard man united fan and I don't want one of those in the team. Plus he's poor as well. That too.

{Ed025's Note - i was half decent in my time FMS and to be honest i cant be any worse than klavan and lovren, carragher, fowler and macca were all everton fans mate but once you sign for a club your alliegences change, i think hes decent myself mate..

3.) 04 Jun 2017 14:31:59
Difference is that Carragher, Fowler and Macca grew up at Liverpool and they always felt a loyal connection with the club, plus the rivalry is a friendly one between us and I think if you have family that are red you'll still want to do your best. Keane is a Man United supporter through and through, he's played for United and still wants to play for them. I don't believe that we could trust him and the crowd would be on his back the first mistake he makes (and he makes some shocking mistakes, sk it wouldn't take long for that to happen), for his own sake he should go somewhere else as he just wouldn't be welcome at Anfield because of his allegiance and because he has given it large in the papers how much he loves united and dislikes us, so he can't change those words now. The laughable thing is that the £30m for Keane makes whatever the package to sign VVD City have paid look cheap, given that Keane only looks ok (I won't say good! ) because Burnley stick ten men behind the ball and when you examine his ability and scrutinise him, he falls well short of even being mediocre.

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions i suppose FMS but i think your looking to deep int the man utd thing mate..these are professionals..

4.) 04 Jun 2017 14:43:33
Keane? Cough cough. It is quite simple really, just rather give Gomez a run.

5.) 04 Jun 2017 14:47:15
Keane won't come cheap considering VVD is priced at £50 mill.

6.) 04 Jun 2017 14:49:59
Keane is a good player to the level of Everton. Not good enough for Liverpool 😎.

{Ed025's Note - how very dare you.. :)

7.) 04 Jun 2017 15:04:34
VVD is priced at more than £50m Harry.

Along with his £10m a year contract.

If we do sign VVD then I really will not know what to say. Then VVD will still have to baby Milner and have a look at how Clyne runs up and down the pitch aimlessly.

8.) 04 Jun 2017 15:09:24
Professional in the very loosest definition of the word, I would add. Thing is, if he was just a transient player at United who was dumped early on, like Beardsley, I'd not give it second thought as he would have no loyalty to them. But this is a nailed on die hard United fan and its a completely different issue as he's said that they're the only team bar Burnley that he's loyal to as a suppprter and he's said that is for life. For me that rules him out. Notwithstanding the fact that he's just not very good which should be enough in any case. (Won't even mention the 25% sell on that United would get out of it. )

9.) 04 Jun 2017 15:19:30
I hate to say this, but I'm not convinced that Gomes is a first choice CB and that's what we need.

10.) 04 Jun 2017 15:27:32
I agree. All coz we did not cough up £12 mill for Chilwell last summer and did not replace Sakho with a proper CB last season. We are in need coz we not upgrade last time around. Yesterday's £25 mill is today's £50 mill. Quality remains the same.

11.) 04 Jun 2017 15:39:25
Harry, it does not work that way because if Lovren £20m two seasons ago was one of the best CB's in the League, came to Liverpool and has not lived up to expectation although he has improved then how can one say that VVD at some obscene price, being made the most expensive defender of all time and along the way, becoming one of the highest earners in the EPL going to guarantee that VVD will be any better than Lovren when both are from Soton?

Playing for LFC compared to Soton is at one massive different level. Ask any Soton player we have signed, especially Clyne :-)

12.) 04 Jun 2017 16:50:14

I agree there are no guarantees. But it is for this the scouts are paid. To have proper analysis of the player and where do they fit in with our current system, Do they posses all the attributes to succeed at the club. Are they an upgrade on the current one's.

What if Salah does a Markovic? He came with a reputation of the best young winger.

It's a gamble you take, In fact you must.

I am not crying out for VVD but after watching Lovren and Klavan I would love the club to sign one class CB.

13.) 04 Jun 2017 17:22:55
Comparing Salah with Markovic lol?

Marko had 1 half decent season where he scored/ assisted a handful of goals. Salah just hit double figures. You're clutching at straws Harry.

HOWEVER, I do agree about you final point re signing a centre back. I refuse to believe that there aren't better CBs available than VVD for less. Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A have more than a few!

I can see us signing Ox personally. Klopp clearly rates him, and with his pace and power he fits Klopps style, his ability will improve with Klopps coaching we've seen that in the past at LFC as well as Dortmund so I wouldn't be too fussed if we signed Ox could be a very good squad players to have.

I don't know if I'm right in saying this so if I'm wrong feel free to correct me. But I don't think Solanke can play for the u23's because of his age and our academy transfer ban on home grown players? Not sure if I'm right on that, could someone clear this one up? Ed's?

{Ed002's Note - He can play for the Under 23 side.}

If Sakho were to stay I'd like Klopp to give him a chance alongside Matip because I think they would complement exact other better than Lovren and Matip. For me I'd rather see Sakho change his attitude and earn himself another chance than us going out and spending stupid money on a CB that isn't that much better than we currently have (VVD, I'm not slating VVD because he is better than what we currently have but I don't value him at £60 mil+ so I'd rather keep that money and sign quality fullbacks)

If we're looking to sign a CB but are unable to sign one could we see sakho playing for us next season should his attitude change? Highly unlikely he will play competitively for us again.

I've just read that on Sky Sports, could be the start of him handing a transfer request in to force a move through. Hopefully we can sign him.

But on the other hand MK Coutinho is still here and will probably still be here by September 1st so Firmino still has a friends. Although it will be hard for both Brazilians with Moreno (not likely to be there) and Lucas leaving.

With maybe dad being a forest fan, I told him I go should go to forest on loan next season to help build his confidence. Which would be beneficial for us as well as forest because they'd be getting a very good striker in ings. Would be more useful him playing in championship most weeks than playing for our u23's imo.

RBL don't want to sell as he's one of their best players but every player has a price and if Liverpool pay a fee which RBL accept then he will leave. LFC will be making a 2nd bid for the players. I believe £70 mil will get us keita.

Milner will be a utility player next year. Can fill in at full back, midfield or wing. So would be a good player to have on the bench.
