Any sign of the Babble chopter in the skies, think after Chesia we are done would have liked a DM or CB but I'd be happier to sign nobody, sell nobody and get TAA's Mo's and big Virg's contracts sorted out. Looking forward to the Mancs on Sunday we will be able to gauge just what to expect for the coming season in what way our attitude is in that game fingers crossed we get the right result ?

Honestly if I hear one more person say they wanted a DM and CB I think I’ll lose it.
It’s just become a narrative now and nobody really knows why we need them. We have 4 first team CBs and we don’t play with a traditional DM.
Yet every man and his dog wants a DM and a CB.

I lose it all the time JK, generally it’s either between the sofa cushions, in the dog’s basket or in the last place I remember having it.

Have to agree BP, would a player of Rodri’s class as dm been a welcomed addition? Hell yeah, but if what’s available is no upgrade or too much money. We have a good enough squad to cope and from what I’ve seen so far the team is settling in nicely under Slot. Chiesa on paper looks a steal in todays prices and strengthens the forward line which shows if a player the clubs deems will improve our squad we go for it. Prob some lessons to learn from this transfer window but lot of difficulties with players away on international duty and a new manager coming in with different ideas so quite a short window to do business.

The contracts don't have anything to do with the transfer window though. Contracts can be extended at any time. We've made a mess of the window regardless if they extend or not.

Konate has a poor injury record. Gomez is better at full back and they were wantung to offload him, which speaks volumes. Quansah is still relatively inexperienced. We've let VdB, Phillips and Matip go. So yeah every man and his dog is wrong for wanting a CB?

Tend to agree BP. Narratives do tend to develop a life of their own on this site and go running out of control (even when Ed01 delicately states othwrwise) .
Mind you I wouldn't know the difference between a DM and a 6 (as the youngsters like to say) and a double pivot thingy.

We are going to waste another year of prime vvd, Salah, Trent and Alisson bc our owners refuse to spend the money generated by the club and top reds are happy with that.
Liverpool is the only club in football that couldn't find and upgrade on Endo.

The beauty is gents that the window closes shortly and next up is our local derby against the Mancs.
Can’t wait for this one and only downer for me is there is a pointless international window straight after putting a pause to a season that is 3 games old.

Willo you have it spot on, we did and do need another CB. When we're playing twice per week are we confident all 4 are going to keep fit? I'm not. We may well see Endo as a CB at some point this season. Arsenal have about 9 who can play at CB, Chelsea probably have about 800, City I don't know but I can guarantee it's more then 4? (googled, they have 7) I'm not saying we need tons of CB's but we need more then what we've got.

Salah that is utter tripe mate. Arsenal and City play centre backs in the full back positions so by your logic they should have 10 centre backs each because they are covering 4 positions.
We only use 2 centre backs in our line up and have 4 quality players. It’s enough.
The only way we should buy another is if he is better than what we have but we don’t have a desperate need for one.

If we don't play with a Dm then why have we kept Endo when we got offers for him? What happens when Grav needs a rest or gets injured? Who plays the deep lying non Dm role then? Was there really no deep lying midfielders available? Andre who we were supposed to be trying to buy not long ago? I also think going In to this season with only 4 senior Cbs is a bit risky given Konates injury record, Gomez hasn't really played as a CB for over a year and we should be looking after Virgil not relying on him to play every minute. If we have a nightmare who's to the rescue 17 year old Nallo? All for the 'opportunist' signing of another wide forward and a Goalie despite those being the best stocked areas of our squad but surely we've again not addressed the areas we most need?
