How well has our new manager done? Couldn't be anymore impressed with him, we will have bad periods and bad defeats in future like any other team but he looks 100% top notch.
I think back to when souness replaced daglish as a similar change to klopp- slot. Both inherited v good players with a winning mentality but few key players ageing and defensively there a need for improvement.
The difference imo in slot coming in as opposed to souness is slots total lack of ego. He comfortable in saying previous regime have many good things in place which we keep and makes his own changes understated. Whereas souness came in I think he needed to change everything, players, boot room etc right away to prove he the man, Billy big balls. It had to be centred around him.
Slot obviously is v good in other aspects of management but I'd say that his biggest attribute.

Digger i actually really enjoy his press conferences.
Towards the end Klopps became a little uncomfortable viewing and i'd watch/ listen to them partially blinded with love.
Slot's are brilliant to listen too.

I like the way he talks, his after match analysis and openness is quite refreshing.

Digger10, I said before the season that I was hoping Slot was going to hit the ground running which would help him settle in well into the job as winning games early on would help him and the squad develop and grow in confidence as they worked on getting better in a good working atmosphere.
Mate, even I could not have hoped Slot and the players would do this well. Not in my wildest dreams, I tell ya. Hence, I am so over the moon the way things have worked out so far. We will see where things go as time goes on but for now and even tho we are a work in progress and that things can get better, I am just loving the journey. Long may the good vibes continue.

To me as reserved and sober as he might come across to those of us accustomed to klopp wearing his heart on his sleeve 24/ 7, it’s exciting watching a coach learn from his mistakes and make adjustments in real time, with klopp we always knew what we were getting for better or worse, and we all loved that assertive and imposing style of football that was about going for the jugular and never letting go rather than slot’s more aikido style of allowing the opponent to come on to us and then counteracting them, but I can guarantee that klopp would never have played lucho as a number 9, and it’s things like that which give us something to look forward to with this composed and methodical evil genius of a manager.

Wait 'til the honeymoon period is over ?.

Remind me,
Didn't Klopp play steven caulker as striker? Was it Brenda?
I am sure ine of them did it but can't tell exactly.

It was klopp, Sami, I think those were the only minutes caulker got with us too ?.

I think Slot has done really well, and his biggest thing is that he hasn't changed too much, Most managers when they come in have come into a losing team as the previous manager had been sacked even when Ferguson left Man utd he left a team on the downward slope. Klopp left us in a fantastic position a club that has been rebuilt from the bottom up and a great team in place you could even compare to what hapened in Th Shankly/ Paisley/ Fagan/ Kenny era the transition was seamless and to me slot has achieved this so far. Hats off to him YNWA.

Slot is getting more out of this set of players than we got last season in my opinion.

Absolutely Ron, I think he has also had a great impact motivating players too.
As has been said, his press conferences are very good. His brain and his mouth are in sync and he is very honest and straightforward in providing information and responses to questions. He also has a good sense of dry humour too. As has been said JK’s pressers towards the end just showed how mentally tired JK had become.

this year's team is one year more experienced that last season.
They grow together and with a new manager it's not unusual that they can continue to perform and improve. Roberto Di Matteo Arrived mid-season to Chelsea and won the CL for goodness sake lol.
We don't need to look at things in a binary way all the time. Progress is on a curve and as long as the trend continues forward and upwards then that means key parts of the machine along the way are doing their part.

To be honest I thought we finished last season flat and Slot has reinvigorated them.
Just my observation.

That’s very true Faith and something I was trying to drum in to the dullards (love that word now I can’t stop using it) during the summer.
Signing players is not the only way to improve a team. We challenged on 4 fronts for most of last season with a very new team. This season you would expect that they would only get better as they get to know each other better and gain experience as a team.
Slot has been a bonus as his tactical and positional tweaks seem to have been spot on. That added to the natural progression of the team will hopefully see us challenging for honours at the end of the season.
I have noticed Slot starting to relax a bit more in his interviews these days like he’s growing into the job. He was a little robotic at the start but now you are starting to see more of his personality and he seems like an likeable, impressive, driven guy. The players are certainly playing for him so he’s doing something right.
I like the way he dealt with Trent at the start of the season when he threw a strop after being taken off. He took him off again in the next game and still does in a lot of games. That shows he has the strength of character to stand by his decisions and not be bullied by player power.
It’s been a great start for him I’m excited to see how he and his team develop.
