Richard Hughes needs to step up and address several critical areas in Liverpool's squad to ensure competitiveness. Key concerns include:

1. Diogo Jota: His frequent injuries limit his impact. Liverpool may need to consider squad depth or replacements to cover his absences effectively.

2. Darwin Nunez: Despite moments of brilliance, consistency remains an issue. His performances haven’t consistently justified the investment.

3. Wataru Endo: It's clear Slot doesn't see him as a central figure in the current setup, which may indicate a lack of confidence or fit for the system.

4. Tyler Morton: Similar concerns about Slots lack of reliance on him suggest he hasn’t adapted as expected.

5. Andy Robertson: While still capable, his performances appear to be declining, potentially signaling the need for a successor.

6. Jarell Quansah: Limited opportunities under Slot imply he’s not yet trusted to take on bigger roles.

Liverpool's squad needs careful assessment, with strategic signings and adjustments to address both short- and long-term challenges.

I’ve got no faith in Hughes. He’s got the summer to show what he’s capable of but I think he’s out of his depth…hopefully not.

As ed 01 said qaunsah may not be as reliable as first thought this season he has struggled and at the end of last season he was making mistakes, a loan for quansah at a prem club is needed to prove his quality. Gomez is also very inconsistent due to not playing regular and on his way out. Then up front the issue is simply Nunez a sale or loan to buy would be great and a replacement would be ideal for all. Nicholas jackson is twice the player nunez is and he cost 30 million.

As Bill Shankly once famously said "all these problems and we're top of the league".

All these posts lol they’re written as if Hughes and co are just sitting around doing nothing lol.

05 Dec 2024 23:37:33
All of those players were signed before Richard Hughes was at the club.
I understand the urgency to sort the squad that someone else built though with us only being top of both leagues.

The language used is ‘brilliant’. Everything is desperate or critical or disastrous or devastating. I’ve suggested to people millions of times not to exaggerate. Words are literally losing their meaning, which is fair enough, after all language evolves but for the very old like my good self, a disaster involved the loss of life or something equally important. Again, I don’t see any way of having a proper conversation discussion or argument if the words being used are meaningless.

Thing is faith, what have they done since they come in mate? not a great deal from what I can see.

06 Dec 2024 03:59:49
Salah - that is because making a judgement on his performance based on yet to be realized outcomes. and to be fair, we literally can't see what he is doing other than when the outcome is known. So it makes the assessment totally unfair.

Were some of you on the Titanic in a precious life?

06 Dec 2024 06:48:21
I think a lot of the talk at minute about buying+ selling is down to dropping points at Newcastle, same after every poor performance!
No doubt at start of season we needed a defender and a midfielder and it has left us light in those positions now. Looking forward over the next 2 windows I think we need to get a cb, cm, lb and a striker, by August 25 we should've them positions addressed although I would have no faith in club to do so. And I'm counting on all 3 to sign contracts, if any of them leave will need replacing as well.

06 Dec 2024 07:48:25
I agree with you, WDW.
I often find myself agreeing with someone but not agreeing with how they express that opinion.
Me not seeing a transfer window as disastrous or shambolic doesn't mean that I didn't want to see a new signing or two.

Salah, what can you see that you are not happy with?

06 Dec 2024 09:59:32
We can’t see anything because he has produced no results. We needed and still need reinforcements. The squad clearly needs help and has for a while. The lack of a left sided defender and a midfielder must be at least partially down to his failures.

06 Dec 2024 10:08:55
Watched Bournmouth last night they are a very good side well managed play good football and Mr Hughes who our fans are having a go at brought a lot of the players and the manager to that club so give the man space and if you know lfc they will be looking for very good young players at very low prices. Back the man he is now one of us.

06 Dec 2024 10:32:28
@Iamnoonoo, you want Hughes to step up and do what exactly? Seriously, I have no idea how one can make such a judgement on certain topics without knowing what in blazes is actually happening behind the scenes on a factual level.

And sorry, whatever it is you can see (without knowing what is factually happening) means nothing to me, personally. So all you have is inuendo, speculation and just making emotional arguments, IMO. These are things I have no time to engage in.

Now what we do know is that per Ed01, Hughes does not handle anything that has to do with transfers and contracts so not sure what in the world you are on about here.

06 Dec 2024 10:39:52
We are trying to win the PL and CL with all due respect to Bournemouth it’s a totally different situation and level. We need the best and I highly doubt that Hughes is the best in the business.

06 Dec 2024 10:44:27
It does make it a fair assessment faith, it's alright saying eventually we will see results, why didn't we see results in the summer? it's his job and he did next to nothing. No important positions were addressed. Instead we go and buy a keeper who we didn't need and an injury prone has been. Is that good business? Will there still be excuses after January if we get nobody in?

06 Dec 2024 11:09:09
Maybe he’s hard of hearing someone said we need a sweeper and he thought keeper?

06 Dec 2024 12:33:52
It’s jobs for the boys atm. No results and a whacking great pay cheque.

06 Dec 2024 17:09:42
Would the reinforcements that we didn't sign have had us any further up the PL and CL?

06 Dec 2024 22:30:23
Yes, or at the very least we would have managed the squad better and have more players to rotate. It’s always been our problem that a few injuries lead to overplaying others and further injuries.

07 Dec 2024 02:26:07
He doesn't get it mark and probably never will.

07 Dec 2024 02:50:02
@Mark, just so that I’m clear, you are saying yes to @Rigsby’s question that we would have been further up the PL and CL Qualification tables?
