Before FSG, we had a stadium that was run down and a training ground that needed updating, a team that was going nowhere fast and we had two players of world class stature, Gerard and Torres.

We also had two owners milking the club to death and a spade that had never touched soil so just remember this, then look what we have under FSG. i think some fans are getting a bit above themselves i really do. We were in man utd's current position and we don't know how lucky we are getting owners of the calibre of FSG.

Agree19 Disagree0

Am not trying to bash the owners here but what I will add (I could be wrong here) is that all the new training ground and new stands were paid for or debts by or on the club not the owners.

Why do owners need to spend their own money to be good owners?

Surely being a good football club owner is to run the club efficiently and effectively?

Looking from the outside this appears to be what FSG are doing.

They are running the club as a business rather than a vanity project or a sports washing tool. Until clubs are fan owned, which looks very unlikely going forwards, I think this is the best we can expect.

I think there will be leaner times ahead, I think we’re going through a very good moment where lots of decisions are paying off.

Personally I’m just enjoying the moment and hoping for the best for the future.

Just my view though.

FSG have been good for Liverpool but Liverpool have been great for FSG.

It’s been a pretty good partnership and as well as making mistakes FSG have played their part in our success.

22 Mar 2025 12:09:11
All Hail FSG!

Seriously though, they are decent owners that have the characteristic traits of an asset manager. They will invest to increase the asset value. That doesn't always match the ambition of the fans who want to compete for the big trophies every year.

22 Mar 2025 12:35:19
U could certainly have worse owners iwill but u also couldve better.
If u look at arsenal+ villa owners in premiership who back there manager to the hilt and they not state owned, we all know nor wouldn't expect fsg to compete financially with city r Newcastle owners.
More ambition + to take more of an interest in club, not just a matter of saying to Edwards do what u like and attend some games would be what I would like to see.

We can all see the improvements to the ground, training facilities and better sponsorship deals but let’s make no mistake this is all done on the back of the teams success. We was lucky to be able to get klopp from out of retirement. That team was built on the back of the sale of coutinho. If fsg would have invested a bit more into the team we would have won probably another couple of titles and and champions leagues. If klopp had gone to Utd they would have won more than we did.

Yes longthing that’s generally how good businesses and companies are run.

22 Mar 2025 12:49:32
So they LOANED us money to update the stadium and training ground and that's about it seen as were constantly told they have nothing to do with football matters. I will give them that they hired some good people notably jurgen Klopp and road his coat tails. And there's nothing wrong with that, i don't think Fsg are particularly bad owners at all. I do think they should part with some of their own cash sometimes but many would disagree. So decent enough owners but nothing like the life saving saints some on here would have you believe.

FSG have loaned Liverpool around £1 BILLION in the last 15 years which includes purchase of club, purchase of new players and agents fees, building new infrastructure and expanding Anfield as well as a brand new training ground.

They brought in Jurgen Klopp who achieved great success with us. Now they have brought in Arne Slot who will win us the title in his first season. The club is world class with valuable players.

Liverpool is now worth £5 BILLION to FSG. They have run LFC wisely and prudently and made some very shrewd decisions on and off the pitch.

FSG will not hesitate to spend big on one player if they feel it is worth it.

What's not to like?

22 Mar 2025 14:57:18
Why do people keep coming out randomly praising the owners? ?.

22 Mar 2025 15:26:28
bog standard - we don't talk about finances here :)

You might want to do some reading on revenue, profit and debt.

22 Mar 2025 15:33:18
LFC 8 - the same reason certain sections come out and bash the owners

Folk need to cast their minds back to Moore’s and parry in the 90’s and 00’s, watching United spend their way to the top…

We stood still in every respect…

Maybe some are too young to remember. I sat on that kop for years having to endure season after season with no league success….

Drogie.

Why would FSG loan Liverpool money to purchase the club?

Might check with my mortgage advisor now and let them now my mortgage is only a loan.

22 Mar 2025 16:09:17
Is it praise? Or is it just not understanding why some randomly seem to want to constantly rubbish them.

I can’t really praise owners as I believe that clubs should be owned by the fans.

If we have to have owners we could do much worse is my take.

22 Mar 2025 16:48:15
When all else fails bring up how bad we were in the past.

22 Mar 2025 19:41:21
Add Villa and Arsenal's trophy haul together and compare it to Liverpool's for the last 10 years.
But yeah we don't spend enough.

22 Mar 2025 20:04:03
If we base good owners on trophy hauls flash then man city owners are the best, which I don't think they are.

22 Mar 2025 20:33:35
"We was lucky to be able to get klopp from out of retirement. That team was built on the back of the sale of coutinho. ".

Sorry but if you're going to slate FSG at least stick with the facts, which are NOT on your side. Klopp arrived during the 15/ 16 season and Coutinho stayed for an extra 2 years or so. During Cou's final 2 years here, we signed a bunch of players while Cou was here that included, Bobbie, Salah, Mane, Karius, Klavan, Gini, Ox, Matip etc. and the last time I checked, none of these guys bar Matip, were free transfers so how did we sign all these players 2 years with the Cou money when the geezer was still here?

Secondly, FSG were NOT lucky with Klopp. Klopp said himself that he had been hoping we approach him during his sabatical after BR got the boot and as soon as he got the call, he jumped at it and his fam were excited to come to England as well. He wanted us. We wanted him. No luck here. Just good timing.

22 Mar 2025 20:34:21
City fans think they’re the best.

22 Mar 2025 22:35:39
We'd be doing really well to get better owners than FSG, way more positives than negatives with them.
But it would a damned sight easier to end up with worse owners.

22 Mar 2025 23:05:52
Arsenal have won one FA cup since the owners took over.

Aston villa had to sell players to stay within FFP, and have progressed, but have won chuff all and may not qualify for CL next season.

I don't really know what people qualify good owners as anymore. We're top of the league by miles and we're going to win it at a canter, all while staying well within FFP. The only team who has won more than us over the last 5 seasons are basically at war with their own FA and have over a hundred serious charges hanging over them, what do people want?!?

23 Mar 2025 00:59:16
if not FSG then who?

Newcastle's net worth is more than the collective net worth of all the owners in the Premier League and they've just managed to pick-up a league cup and a couple champions league appearances.

Like, what exactly are we talking about lol.

23 Mar 2025 09:34:42
Rugby Parker IMO, good owners simply mean, "Owners that will spend as much money on players I like, do everything I want and just shut it".

"And if they don't then, they are guilty of whatever I think they are guilty of".

There is a name we give this type of behavior esp. in U. S politics. It's called "Macarthyism".

Google is your friend, if you care to know what this reprehensible behavior is.
