Summer 2025 transfer targets

We need to strengthen 5 or 6 positions in the summer to become stronger and ready to defend our title next season.

RB - Regardless of if Trent leaves I feel we need a good solid starting RB. I like Bradley but his injuries scare me. Jeremy Frimpong would be my choice

LB - Robertson is a liverpool legend but he has dropped form this season and made some bad mistakes. Kerkhez would be an excellent addition to the 1st team.

AM - someone who can receive the ball, turn, get their head up and find a nice through ball. Dom has been a workhorse for us but I haven't seen enough of this from him. Paqueta from West Ham would be a decent signing for me but he has some serious issues going on. Simons has been mentioned but I would go all out to sign Florian Wirtz, excellent player

LW - Diaz and Gakpo have rotated this position and did an OK job but it feels like we could do better at times. Kvaratskhelia - what a player, but no chance. Rafael Leao would be an exciting signing

ST - Isak. This would be a game changer.

Possible CB - not entirely sure if we need a CB. We have VVD, Konate, Quansah and Joe Gomez. Perhaps a young upcoming talent to grow into the team, but happy enough if we keep these 4 fit

Players likely to leave:
Kelleher, Nunez, Trent, Jota, Tsimikas, Endo and possibly Diaz

Let's see how many of these come true ?

Thanks for reading, enjoy the celebrations YNWA.

Nice read, Mr. Slot but I don't see 5/ 6 players coming in. To me if we can get 4 players in to fill the spaces of priority we have in the first 11 and first team squad then, we would be good to go cos I don't think we will be able to let go of the amount of players people think we should let go. Just my take.

Frimpong would be a horrendously bad signing, he’s far worse than Arnold defensively and if we’re going for Kerkez on the left, it leaves our centre backs horribly exposed. Unless we’re bringing in a top class defensive midfielder to play alongside Gravenberch it would be footballing kamikaze. I’d rather we made an offer to the current incumbent close to what Salah and Van Dijk are getting.

Wouldn’t want Pacqueta, that business with the gambling shows an unprofessional attitude. As for Wirtz, if you think we’re spending way over £100m or that we stand a chance of signing him against either of Bayern or City, then you’re delusional.

Leao is every bit as frustrating as Diaz. Strikes me as one of these “vibes” type players who are more concerned with aesthetics than actually scoring goals.

As for Isak, you’ll be disappointed. There’s no way Newcastle will sell for less than £150m and there’s no chance that we’d meet that asking price.

I think this notion that we’re signing 4 or 5 players is pie in the sky, Personally I think it will be Kerkez and that’s it. Salah, Van Dijk, Bajcetic and Marmadashvili will be treated like new signings, as will Arnold if he renews, (which even though I think he’s off to Madrid, there still remains some slither of hope until it is confirmed by any of the parties involved) and if Nunez leaves I don’t think he’ll be replaced as (a) the cost for a top class striker is prohibitive (b) beyond Isak there’s very little quality out there (c) Nunez has hardly played so what is being replaced?

{Ed025's Note - as positive as ever i see Victor.. :)

You talk some nonsense Viktor. There's absolutely no way we don't sign a striker when Nunez goes.

I think we'll get a LB, a cheap competitor to Bradley from abroad, a young centre back (huijsen would be the choice but I could see us going cheaper) and a striker (where we spend most of our budget) .

I would like another midfielder but I don't think that will happen, Bajcetic, Jones and Elliott is good enough cover for the midfield 3.

24 Apr 2025 10:59:30
OliRed thanks, 4 signings would be nice if they help the 1st team ?

Who would you suggest then Viktor, you seem to have it all figured out?

24 Apr 2025 11:08:01
From previously quoted fees for the players you mention, you're up near £450m for players coming in, neeeever going to happen. I agree with kerzek, I do think we'll go for him and huisen, and if we get them, I expect quansah to go the other way. Possibly one of our younger midfielders too (Morton, Bajcetic, maybe even Elliott on loan if he's not going to play much next season) .

Frimpong I would take, as he's versatile enough to get enough games across the season without hindering Bradley too much.

Striker, I don't think Isak will be sold this summer. Cunha a possibility, but plenty of competition. Retegui looks a good player and goalscorer, Sesko is a good prospect but risky, impressed with Mateta this season, maybe even Cherki as a utility forward. Options out there to refresh the forward line if Nunez and Jota leave.

I'm happy with the midfield 3, but I would swap Mac and Szob's positions, especially against the more defensive/ counter attacking teams. Depending on sales, probably a midfielder to come in.

I think LB, CB and CF will be the clear priorities.

Victor only casts shade, Arne, he has no confidence or ability to actually come up with alternatives.

24 Apr 2025 12:45:36
Viktor I read your posts all the time and see your pov. It'd be nice to see retractions from you though, because you are wrong enough times. We're on the verge of winning THE title, LFC management clearly knows we have an aging group of starters, there are holes that need to be filled player-wise (despite popular belief that management is incompetent) . And here you are with your negativity disguised as studied proclamations. Chill out, man.

24 Apr 2025 12:49:58
To be fair Viktor did say we had no chance of winning the League this season . Isn’t that right Viktor? ?.

A lot depends on sales though and how ruthless Slot is:

Defence:
- Quansah and Gomez could go at CB
- Tsimikas and/ or Robertson will go. At least one, perhaps both if Kerkez bought and Beck, Chambers provides cover
- again, the likes of Hato could cover both CB and LB
- if Trent leaves I think he will be replaced

Midfield:
- I actually think we are well stocked with Endo, Elliott, Jones, Mac, Szobz, Grav, McConnell
- He does not seem to rate Endo though, he may be sold
- Another option is to buy Cunha for the 10 role, Szobs drops to an 8 in some games, Cunha could play as a 9 in others?

Forward:
- we need a striker. Would we pay £120m for Isak though?
- the sales could go a long way though, especially if both Jota and Nunez are sold but makes for an interesting summer.

@VV, the problem is, as ever, we won’t pay money for good players and the players we do want aren’t good enough. It’s been your song for years now. Admittedly you’ve jumped on the Edwards/ Hughes act is crap bandwagon this season which was a sort of temporary refreshing change.

The thing is in the lat 5 / 6 years - with your constant whining in the background - we have won 2 PLs, a CL and a WCC. The facts of the matter of what’s happened / is happening in the real world seem to suggest that your analysis of who we sign and how they perform is way off target. Of course, as ever, you are entitled to hour opinion, but it seems in this case that having an opinion doesn’t make the opinion right.

Bradley is nailed on for the RB slot . might get young up n coming one . we definitely need a LB, a midfilder. n 2 up top. who they are iv no clue but they're needed.

24 Apr 2025 14:43:21
Starting to wonder if Harry is not VV in disguise cos they sure sound the same in terms of how they convey their negativity.

24 Apr 2025 15:31:01
Get N. Williams from Forrest. as Aina has signed a new deal.
Kerkez from Bournemouth
Hato or Hancko as CB

Midfield Endo replacement may be Bajetic. maybe Some one unknown.

FwDs. Cunha and Delap still my choices for Nunez and Jota. both available for around 100m between them.

If Doak and Elloit move on then one RW. maybe Asensio.

Putting aside the fact that we have not been making many signings in recent years and have always gone into seasons one or two positions short.
I can't see anything less than 6 incomings this summer tbh.

It's clear that LB and striker are priority positions. That's 2.

After that you have to backfill for Trent as Bradley will need cover. That's 3.

Then it seems that Endo and Elliott are not fancied by Slot. If that is the case, you'd expect at least one midfielder to come in, if not two. That's at least 4.

It seems we're serious about getting another CB in. Presumably at least one of Gomez or Quansah will make way for this. That's at least 5.

Diaz contract must be resolved one way or another. If he's to be sold, he will need to be replaced by another winger. That's at least 6.

And finally, we really don't know whether Chiesa and Jota will still be with us. If both go, we'll need to replace them with one player.

Unfortunately, I think Isak, Alvarez and Wirtz are pipe dreams.

Milos Kerkez/ Jorrell Hato, Givairo Read/ Martim Fernandes Dean Huisen, Carlos Baleba, Matheus Cunha/ Hugo Ekitike, Anthony Gordon/ Mohamed Kudus, Franco Mastantuono and Malick Fofana would be a decent shopping list, with over 250m raised in sales.

We are Liverpool, signings will be made and astute ones at that maybe not ones people are predicting. I am more than happy to make bargain basement signings with potential to get better. £150 million for Isak is ridiculous and a rip off to boot. The less money spent the better let’s not be daft like Man U and Chelsea.
