Ed025 I was talking to you during the England game. You mentioned Bellingham but i can't recall what you exactly said. I think these are his peak years. He just seems like a Rooney and Owen to me but his load is more as a midfielder. Excellent for such a young age but his style of play and physique will catch up earlier. There's players you just know are going to slow down a lot earlier than others. Sobosli for me if he's not pulled back to an 8 will burn out a lot quicker. What players can you name that have the same legs in their late 20's with that style of play? The physicality with the constant demand of running off and on the ball. He's not a Scholes or pirlo and can adapt to a quarter back role. I look at Bellingham and his build and think if this lad starts getting a few injuries in the next few years, he'll regress very quickly.
For me, he should aspire to be like lampard. Less demanding midfield role and more focused on getting into the box and scoring goals. He was also anonymous in a lot of big games last season. Bellinghams brand blew up and it will be very interesting how he gets on next season under alonso.

{Ed025's Note - i thought Jude was a generational talent Batman but i have to say since he went to Madrid he seems to have regressed, dont get me wrong i think he is very talented but maybe the pond he is in does not suit him, but it will be interesting to see how he does under Alonso mate..

Serious question about jude, was he always a complete whining brat at dortmund also or it just since moving to real and started playing regular for England? All he seems to do these days is roll around and complain to refs and scream at his own team mates. Heard rumours dortmund were glad he left also.

{Ed025's Note - i think its just that hes highly strung Magico and that with all the media attention it went to his head mate..

Personally I wouldn't put Owen and Rooney in the same category.

Owen blossomed young and injuries hampered the key attribute he had in his speed which stopped him in his tracks.

Rooney blossomed when you and continued to perform at the top level consistently. Even when age started to take it's toll he adapted his game dropped deeper and became a playmaker.

For the National teams sake I hope Jude sorts his attitude out. Madrid was too early for him in my opinion. He has now taken on the "I'm a Galactico" mindset which has made him quite an irritating character. The big time Charlie look doesn't come across well at all. I fear that Trent could well become one and the same, which would be a real shame.

Ed025 I just think he is another overrated British player. Every time I watch him he is nothing special he is 6ft 4 and rolls round the floor moaning every time he gets touched. When Rooney came on the scene I thought he was going to be a world beater but he got to his peak level at 18/ 19 was so far ahead of Ronaldo but he never got any better. Don’t know if it’s a mental thing with British players but they just stagnate once they get to a level. Owen was all about his pace and once that hamstring went that was him done but I feel without that he would have reached a higher level because of the way he was seemed more driven.

{Ed025's Note - i think Rooney had a great career Grino, i was not a fan of his off-field antics but his records speak for themselves mate..

isnt he's UTDs top goal scorer? that's no joke to be fair!

{Ed025's Note - yes he is mate..

Weren’t there rumours that he was disliked at dortmund towards the end with his attitude?

09 Jun 2025 21:00:09
I remember Bellingham telling his teammate at Dortmund he was s*** during a match for everyone to see. I've never been struck on him as a person.

Bellingham just a big time Charley chan, Trent will end up the same. He was already showing signs here for past few seasons. Rooney as much as I hate to say it was great player. Don’t forget he stayed at Utd with some crap players while Ronaldo went and joined the best managers and players in Europe. Think if Rooney goes to RM at that time he’d be Englands best football export . Look what happened with bale.

Ed025 he talks a good talk Bellingham. Last season was substandard and he was invisible in many important games. His inflated pr currency will allow for another similar season under alonso. English media state he's worldclass, no questioning if he is. I've seen nothing to suggest he's "worldclass". He's productive on the pitch. He's nothing that makes you go wow.

{Ed025's Note - i tend to agree Batman..

To be fair to Owen yes his pace diminishing did hurt him, but come on, his positioning and finishing were always top class and he scored goals wherever he went long after his pace went. Let's not just dismiss him just cus he went to Utd. He's not a legend but he was still pretty good.

Rooney peaked at 19? Give over.
He was a fantastic player.
