Long time lurker, first time poster. Been here for years and love all the content from Eds and contributors alike. I never really have much to say, but after the tragic news that broke yesterday, I wanted to write something for our No.20. Hope it’s not too long Eds.
His Name Is Diogo
Our hearts are heavy, spirits torn,
A brighter light we’ll see no more.
Gone too soon, too young, too kind,
But etched forever in our minds.
His name is Diogo, fierce yet mild,
A warrior’s fire, a father’s smile.
With boots laced tight and eyes aglow,
He danced through lines, his skills on show.
For every cheer at Anfield’s gate,
He gave his all, defied his fate.
Our No. 20, quick and true,
A Red through and through, and we all knew.
The Kop would rise when he would run,
With dazzling feet, the job was done.
But goals were never all he gave,
He led with grace, he played so brave.
A husband to Rute, barely days a groom,
A father with a heart in bloom.
Three little souls he leaves behind,
Who’ll carry forth his gentle mind.
A brother, son, whose love ran deep,
Now rests where silence dares to weep.
And André too, a bond so strong,
Two hearts that journeyed all along.
No words can cradle all this pain,
But love like his will still remain.
In every chant, in every song,
In every echo, loud and long.
You’ll Never Walk Alone, dear friend,
This is not where your story ends.
For every pass, each roaring goal,
You’ve stitched your name into our soul.
So raise your scarves, and let them fly,
With tears that fall, but heads held high.
For though the sky has claimed his glow,
We’ll always sing, his name is Diogo.

I've been on this site a very long time Peter, and that is by far the best poem/ song I've ever seen on here. A beautiful message.

There will be some emotion and atmosphere in Anfield when we sing his song next August. He'll be there too and be the inspiration for 21. H'ON THE JOTA!
