With Liverpool signing Ekitike the striker market gets a lot smaller which makes signing Isak even tougher as Ekitike was seen as Isak's replacement.

Realistically who do Newcastle sign? Gyokeres seemingly going to Arsenal. Sesko and Jackson looking to cost 80m, both a big drop off from Isak's standard.
Watkins available for 60.

With Newcastle needing at least 2 strikers its difficult to see Newcastle selling, I don't think he will put in a transfer request.

Said the same yesterday. Money is irrelevant for Newcastle. There are no alternatives. Besides they can’t sell their project to players. Absolutely no chance Isak is leaving this window.
Those who think Newcastle have PSR issues. Well they can sell their women’s team and couple of hotels near north east to comply the EPL PSR. It’s that simple for Saudi.

{Ed001's Note - no it's not. You are talking utter cack again.}

Nunez and DCL.

Wissa as well!

I’ve got a good feeling about Ekitike.

London Red, Newcastle isn't going to cancel their women's team to beat PSR.

Kalimuendo. We should get him if we don’t get Isak. He can play across the front line and played for France in the Olympics.

Plenty of choice for Newcastle. I am sure Benjamin Sesko would be a good fit for their style. And then perhaps someone like Evan Guessand would be a good back up striker. They would also have the financial shackles off to invest in another midfielder. goalkeeper and a couple of centre backs.

The bigger concern they have is the instability in the football structure. Paul Mitchell left a hole there and Eddie is running a lot with his brother at the moment.

Not sure you really grasp how things work, london_red. I'm as far from being an expert on these matters as anybody else but from my rudimentary understanding of how PSR works even a simpleton like me can deduce this much.

They don't actually have PSR issues in the way that it is commonly understood. The problem is that because they can't generate anywhere near the same revenue as Liverpool, Chelsea, City and Arsenal even if they have loads of cash they can't spend near the same amount or offer the wages that their top players might be able to earn at a bigger club. It's tough luck for them in some ways, they need years to build up to that level, years of smart purchases and allocation of contracts and years of being in the Champions League to slowly reach that bracket, but they are far from being there yet. We were where Newcastle are before, now we have surpassed that level and entered the bracket of absolute top notch teams at the crest of the pyramid. It makes sense to make the most of being in this position while you still can.

Even if they sold their womens team or hotels or whatever as you suggest, that doesn't mean that they can offer Isak the contract that he or his agent think he deserves without that having implications for their wage structure, and these would be implications that would have far-reaching consequences for years to come, as they would be stuck paying Isak this sum for however long he stays, and present and future stars would use that as a point of reference for their own salaries.

Isak is an absolute unicorn in the market insofar as he is an elite player who is playing for a non-elite team, similar to Wirtz. Elite teams are not going to want to sell their best players to other elite teams for obvious reasons, so the biggest attraction on the market would be a) players who are already at that level but can be poached from teams that they have outgrown and that simply can't compete financially or on a sporting level at this moment in time or, more obviously, b) players who have shown enough promise to reach that level in short order and are young enough to offer value, like Ekitike.

I don't agree with what London wrote, but I get why someone would be cynical when City and Chelsea are seemingly getting away with their cheating.

22 Jul 2025 12:21:44
That’s exactly my point Stone. Newcastle can simply cheat their way if they are facing PSR issue. Their problem is they simply can’t sell their project to players. Ekitike for example.
I highly doubt Isak is demanding Salah wages at Newcastle.

22 Jul 2025 14:04:05
If they could cheat, why didn't they do it last summer instead of selling Elliott Anderson and minteh? I'm not saying they can't cheat, it's just not as easy as you suggest.
