Bit of a strange question, but I’m going to buy the new shirt and see there is a lower cost one and then a much more expensive official shirt, for those who know what is the difference in them?

One is made of same material as the one the players wear. The other is for street wear.

Most brands and clubs do it now. They'll release an "authentic" jersey, and a "supporter" jersey - or something to that effect. Authentic is what the players wear. It's a slimmer, upside down triangle type fit, and made of posher fabric, I think. The supporter jersey - the cheaper one - is a looser, straighter, fit to accommodate the physique of the average punter.

I’ll say with the more authentic and more expensive jersey, if you’re ripped and have the physique then buy it. Otherwise it’s a lot of breathing in post match in the pub.

It’s usually that the more expensive one is the “official matchday shirt” that the players wear.
They’re both outrageously expensive nowadays any way.
I can’t justify £40 for my lads birthday when he turns 4 for a footy kit he’ll grow out of before the season is done.

One will be the official replica, the other the official match day shirt.
Materials and cut are different. It's the latest money grab from clubs. Unfortunately been going on for a while now.

Different cut, different material, badges and logos applied differently. If you’re looking for a more relaxed fit go for the cheaper one.

The player issue shirts feel 50x better than the replica ones, but they are more form fitting and you'd have to be in shape to wear them. If you are, though, I'd say that the authentic ones feel so much more premium to the touch and on your body, and are noticeably more breathable with the cut-outs and vents in the fabric.

I’m a very chiselled 6ft3 so I have to fork out for the authentic top. Life is so unfair.
{Ed001's Note - some of us can make either shirt look good. No need for the expensive one, it just looks expensive on me either way. Maybe because I am cheap?}
