Looks like Howe is preparing for the inevitable with regards Isak. Player will be allowed to leave after the registration period for Mondays game is final.
Guehi will be with Palace until next week's return fixture with Fredrikstad in the Conference League. Should they go through he may be offered a bumper contract, if they go out, he'll leave.
Elliott will leave at some point maybe deadline day via the Babelcopter.
22 Aug 2025 11:43:57
The registration period has nothing to do with the Isak deal - he will need a few weeks to get up to speed so would be unlikely to play until after the international break anyway.
Guehi has already been offered a new contract but has chosen not to sign it because he wants to leave for a bigger club. Whether or not they get into the Conference League proper will have no impact on this.
Other than that I think you are spot on - we all expect Elliot to leave.

Howe is sounding absolutely pathetic. ‘We’re still friends’ ‘it’s not my fault’ ‘I want him to stay’ blah blah blah.
The guy is mugging you and your club off, he has publicly said he has no interest in playing for you yet you still act like some jilted lover who just can’t accept it’s over.
Even if he stays it’ll be under duress like Howe has said he won’t let him see the kids if he walks out that door!
Honestly mate, grow a spine and say it like it is. Any manager worth his salt would have binned Isak off weeks ago and even if it’s the owners who are digging their heels in would just not answer questions on it.
Newcastle will never, ever challenge for the major trophies with him in charge. He just doesn’t have that ruthless edge that you need.
22 Aug 2025 11:47:52
RedAK if that's true then, Ed01 was right. Newcastle didn't want to sell him to us earlier in the window cos they didn't want him to play against them even tho, that would have been 50/ 50 cos he would have been pretty unfit to play. Let's see if your praise occurs.
22 Aug 2025 11:48:18
So at 12:01pm today it'll be announced they've accepted the deal? 13 minutes.
22 Aug 2025 12:51:04
I feel sorry for Howe, he has admitted that conversations were had at season end about Isaks future and I get the impression he would allow Isak to go but he has also referenced in nearly all pressers that ‘it’s not in my hands’, distancing himself from unkept promises or agreements.
22 Aug 2025 13:05:57
Robbo, to be fair, what did you really expect him to say, 'yeah he's gone, hate the bloke'. He's literally feeding the media the script he's been given.
22 Aug 2025 13:17:14
Spot on, Stuie. Howe and the club knew Isak would go if you consider his comments after the last game of last season when he could say which players would stay at the club going into this season when asked the question. So at this point, he is just saying what he is told to say under the circumstances.
22 Aug 2025 13:26:26
No Stuie, just say nothing. I’d expect him to say I’ve got a game on Monday and I would rather talk about that and the players that will play in it.
It’s like he’s desperate for everyone to know that it’s not his fault and he’s still mates with Alex. Self preservation mode.
It seems Isak could sleep with his Mrs and he’d still say he loves him and they’re great mates. He’d probably make them breakfast in the morning!
He just needs to shut up. He’s making Alexander Isak bigger than the club and sounds pathetic and desperate.
{Ed025's Note - i thought he spoke very well Robbo, maybe you were expecting him to say he thinks Isak should go to Liverpool and if they pay 10 bob and a dead mouse then that would be fine?..
22 Aug 2025 13:35:34
I think you can read Howe's comments both ways. Newcastle will be thinking it shows there is a way back for Isak. We will believe it means it's on his way out.
Until they get 2 forwards, his comments mean nothing imo.
22 Aug 2025 13:49:54
Crazy how a poster told us for months that the Isak links and him leaving were a non story and shot anyone DOWN who mentioned it, is NOW telling us that from comments after the last game of the season they knew Isak was going to leave Newcastle.
22 Aug 2025 13:51:52
I like Howe and I think people above has let him down. First he pulled him out Celtic game, then injury pre your, then isak didn’t ask to leave. It’s hard to manage on your own whilst thinking the player may come back in the fold. Seems they’ve isolated him? It’s some of the ridiculous journalist that’s not helped!
22 Aug 2025 14:18:24
It's just his take, JK23.
22 Aug 2025 14:22:20
Maybe we saw different news conferences Robbo, but though you're being overly critical there. Despite what people say, no transfer is guaranteed and if things fall through, he will be left with an exceptionally talented, albeit unhappy, player until at least January.
If that is the case, why not look to integrate back in on the understanding he will leave in the near future. I personally think Howe has done well considering the absolute shambles Newcastle are in above him.
22 Aug 2025 15:25:01
I agree, stuie.
Fans on here are moaning and ridiculing NUFC and its fans but really they are frustrated that Isak has not signed for Liverpool yet.
It's arrogance.
22 Aug 2025 15:37:29
I can see both sides I guess and maybe I am being a bit harsh but in the same circumstance I would want my manager to just say nothing. Anything he has to say to Isak can be done behind closed doors if he wants to reassure him he still has a future at the club.
He initially said Isak can’t be involved with the first team a few weeks back, all he has to say now is nothing has changed and I’m concentrating on the players that can play.
It seems to me that he’s trying to let the fans know that his relationship with Isak is fine and it’s not his fault. The more he speaks the more he fuels the speculation he’d be much better just saying nothing no matter how much the press ask him.
That’s how I would think Fergie, Klopp, Guardiola or Prime Mourinho would’ve handled it. Don’t beg, he’s not bigger than the club and if he wants to go good riddance. They certainly wouldn’t get involved in feeding the press.
22 Aug 2025 15:41:57
Rigsby it's fine, mate. The lonely geezer is looking for a reaction to his unhinged comments from me cos he is that needy for my attention. Hasn't gotten one in months BUT clearly, he can't take a hint.
Let him ramble on and keep posting the unhinged rubbish he makes up in his own head. The "ignore" sign will remain on.
22 Aug 2025 15:46:28
I’m sure Newcastle fans who have followed the club home and away for years in the Pl and Championship are extremely grateful for the ridiculing and advice its had from super LFC fans who probably couldn’t find Anfield on a map and follow the club on youtube highlights.
22 Aug 2025 17:18:44
Oli, I haven't seen any unhinged comments from JK. Not for a while anyway ?.
I'd say he is one of the more hinged posters.
22 Aug 2025 17:48:23
Rigsby our very own LFC super fan has seen Utd, Chelsea, City, Villa, Sunderland, Forest, Leeds, Spurs, Brentford, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Brighton, Newcastle, Everton, wolves, Palace, Fulham, West Ham and Burnley live the exact same amounts of time has he has his supposed team.
Loves calling others out but doesn’t like being called out himself.
Only time his ignore sign is out seems to be when Liverpool are playing because he doesn’t watch the games.
More plastic than Katie Price.
