Ok what are the Ed's thoughts on if we don't get Isak? Who are we going to bring in.

It's painful waiting till Monday to watch us play.

{Ed001's Note - I have no thoughts on that.}

Isaque.

I like that ed001 has never wavered in his belief that Isak will be signing for us. Think most of us are of the same opinion, but the panickers are definitely louder on here.

Should have pivoted to a potential target two weeks ago. Now it will be too late too expensive.
Hopefully slot has seen enough in chiesa and we are going to unleash 2021 version of him.

PIF will have the final say, I think they will keep him then sell in Jan as he will cause divide at the club.
FatWallet called it boys and Akira still hasn’t got one correct all summer.

Just nervous tension Rugby, it’s understandable as it’s been months. Hopefully it’ll play out in the end with Isak and Guehi.

24 Aug 2025 18:48:14
We have a very very good squad but let’s be honest if we add Isak and Guehi to it, it improves the squad significantly.

24 Aug 2025 18:58:28
Chiesa could be the new Divock, at least. We need that kind of last minute hero.

24 Aug 2025 19:13:34
Let’s hope Chiesa can develop into a more than that, I am hoping for the new Fairclough.

24 Aug 2025 19:43:11
I think Chiesa can offer the same qualities that Jota (rest in peace) offered, intelligence, quick thinking in the box and quick feet in tight situations. That goal against Bournemouth was a textbook Jota goal, taking a good position in the box and hitting a good shot first time on target.

I say no one. Our normal isn't to pivot to alternatives as a knee jerk late in the window and I'd back that approach still.

I'd keep Elliot in that scenario however.

25 Aug 2025 08:57:35
It might be Isak or no one for the foreseeable.
I'm not expecting anything from Chiesa. It's just wishful thinking going off his time here so far.
And I thought we'd moved on from Origi. I'm not too bothered about the cult hero type players. He left us with half a dozen great memories but is that enough?
He wasn't good enough to be be missed and I think we'll be saying the same about Chiesa, imo.

Big Div was exactly as good as/ quite often better than we needed him to be, Rigsby, how many goals and goal contributions did he produce playing 10-20 mins at the end of games? I don't know many other players in the prem who won games or whom could be expected to affect them coming on late the way he did.

25 Aug 2025 10:12:12
Tbh I think we struck gold with ekitike he looks far better than the cart horse arsenal got or sesko, he looks determined and classy, he will score a good few.

25 Aug 2025 10:59:29
3 weeks ago Chiesa didn’t even make the tour behind players we were selling.

1 week ago he was thrown into a game as we had thrown a 2 goal lead away.

I’m not sure how much we will see of Chiesa this season but I’m not sure 1 goal (as good as it was) will change Slots thinking too much.

After all he’s come off the bench and scored before and then gone back into obscurity.

I don't know, PB; you tell me.
I'm not being funny but you might have a better memory or idea of how many times Origi came on with 10-20 minutes to score or contribute to a goal. You rate him and I don't but I'm willing to say 'oh yeah, he was better than I recall'.
Also, I don't think Origi was bought to come on with 10-20 minutes to go, was he?
I'm not knocking him but I think we should be looking at players that can start or will eventually start not bench warmers that we hope might us a goal. Wishing for another Origi or that Chiesa will rediscover some form from years ago is not forward thinking. We have bid for Isak and Origis of years ago and present day Chiesas don't do it for me.
