Getting away from the result today which was obviously a shocker and will have this site in meltdown over the next 2 weeks, what on earth is going on with the officiating?

I watched Brentford v Newcastle earlier and Brentford were denied the most blatant penalty you’ll ever see. Burn clipped Outarra’s leg and he went over. Dramatically yes but he was fouled. VAR (Tierney) said there was minimal contact so no pen. Then fast forward to our game and there’s even less contact on Doku and the ref is told to give a pen by VAR. I think both are pens by the way but the Brentford one was even more clear than the one in our game and somehow wasn’t given.

Then you have our goal today. There is no way Robbo has impacted anyone’s ability to play the ball. No way. Yet we get a goal against us v Atletico where a player runs right in front of Ali from an offside position, clearly impeding his view of the ball.

I just don’t understand it any more it’s ruining the game. The inconsistency is infuriating.

These refs all need sacking and starting again because it’s absolutely shocking.

Was it not Michael Oliver on var? Ref said no penalty then was overturned. People sent moaning about the result they are getting pissed off with the lack of motivation from the players and the baffling management.

Michael Oliver is as bent as a bottle of crisps and the ref was born on Greater Manchester. He Bo doubt claims to support Chorley FC. Disgraceful.

I turned off at half time for precisely that reason. well and Nevilles mundane monotone voice! Too many people trying to ref the game now. Not saying we would've got something out of the game as weren't great (eventhough we created a few chances) but had at 1-1 it could've turned out to be a different game.

Hey ho. on we go!

If I knew how to I’d be checking betting patterns, and brown envelopes

The level of inconsistency in decisions (particularly involving VAR) is stinking the place out.

Van dijks goal should have been allowed. I'd be more pissed if we weren't soo bad.

When u take black and white and turn them different shades of grey you will always invite subjectivity. Fans might call it bias or even go so far as fixing. Pundits call it twists and turns, talking points, etc. and it keeps them all in well paid jobs.

The game at its best is still the greatest game, as it's worst it's becoming unwatchable.

As far our goal, for me it should have stood. The keeper is not getting anywhere near it and he can see it the whole time. A great example of grey area which invites the drama and the debate. Bottom line we got what we deserved today.

Oh, was Michael Oliver on VAR? If yes then, no point talking about it. As for our game, Xity are good enuff to beat you at home on a night of Pep's 1000th game as a manager and a chance to claw back points on Arsenal. They didn't need us helping them out with the types of mistakes and gifts we offerred them.

And by we, I mean Konate. As soon as the goal went in, we were already under the coch and with the deflected goal (they all count) then, we were toast. As for where we are, it's an 8 point gap from the top and 4 from City. Not a big nor small gap. IMO, it is manageable this early BUT we got to start putting a run together ASAP.

It was very bias today. Not taking anything away from the fact we were destroyed in every area.

But that Ref today was quite shocking. And quite clearly siding with Manchester City. I don’t even think it’s a debate it was concrete Bias towards the home side.

I wasn’t talking about our result or it having any impact on the result although goals do change games as we all know.

It’s hard not to talk about these decisions because they so clearly wrong it’s hard to believe they are not made on purpose.

Thought of the Atletico goal as well robbo when I seen ours, horrendous decision and crucial one.
Also same ref allowed city goal against wolves last season when silva bumped the keeper and stood in front of him and he was miles off.

Now the way we played 1st half we didn't deserve to be level but that's not the point, u can't afford a decision like that to go against u at etihad.

Terrible performance and we got what we deserved, personally I don’t think our goal today should be chalked off but he was in an offside position and given his proximity to the keeper is clearly going to have an impact on his reactions. People correctly reference last season and the goal which was awarded against wolves where Bernardo silva was clearly offside and impacting play but if memory serves me correctly weren’t most people saying that was an incorrect decision and should never have been allowed?

Both goals are offside by the rules of the game, personally I would have liked to see the ref being called to the monitor to review as Robbo impeding the keeper is a subjective decision the same as he did for silva, I am a little confused why this didn’t happen today if anyone can enlighten me?
