Robbo interview should maybe come into peoples thoughts when discussing this team this year. yes we've been poor in regards to tactics and formation and maybe effort in some games but I do think Diogo is still on the minds of a lot these players. some people heal instantly and can carry on others it weighs on them for a long time.

Dioga is a factor, no doubt, but its clear as day that Slots gameplan and tactics are not bringing out the best in these players.

I can’t believe they put their collective grief aside against Madrid but it affected them again so badly a few days later vs City.

I think the loss of Jota should absolutely be a legitimate reason for not reaching the heights of last season but the consistently poor performances and the odd tactics only fall on the head of one Dutchman.

{Ed025's Note - you hit the nail on the head there IDOG, its disingenuous to believe the passing of Diogo only effects the team when you lose mate, in fact its an insult to his memory imo..

It was a moving speech. Happy for the lad.

May i just add it was the most bizarrely refereed game i've seen this year. No way was it a penalty, as the foul was outside the box, and no way was that a sending off either, he barely touched him. Shocking decisions which affected the result imo. Anyone else watch it?

I think the new signings walked into a team of zombies. Players like Van Dijk, Robbo and Salah will have been shell-shocked even if they were trying to put on a brave face.

We (outsiders) will never know the impact. I can only judge by my own personal experience. Some deaths cut like a knife and I carry them with me always and they can still knock me sideways without warning. And this is many years later, not a few months.

Scotland won their game with Robbo playing well and Robbo has come out and said that he was affected by Diogo's passing before and during the match. So I don't think anyone is saying that it's affecting the team only when we lose.

It's affecting the team regardless of results and I don't think it is an insult to Diogo's memory to admit that. We all knew prior to the season starting that it would, for better or for worse.

Agree with IDOG and ed 25.

I would say ed25 it has effected us from day1 of season, win r lose we haven't looked right or near right from the v 1st game.
Tactics/ formations is alright but we don't seem to have stomach for the fight and in fairness to lfc it's a long since u vould say that which leads me to believe it is a consequence of diogo passing.

{Ed025's Note - im not saying it has not effected the whole club Digger and especially his team mates...especially in the first few games, but you have had games where you have played quite well like AV and RM so to be selective of when it was a reason for ineptitude doesn,t sit well with me mate, for me its down to poor management and tactics why you have failed to deliver, by the way this is not me saying this because im a rival supporter but as someone who out of respect for Jota does not want to taint his legacy..

19 Nov 2025 10:55:23
Don't need you dictating how we honour his legacy Ed, please leave off with decisive language.
RIP Jota
Peace.

{Ed025's Note - im not the type of person to do that mate..

Agreed, Ed. People saying that are being very disingenuous and opportunistic, IMO. Now if the trend was in reverse where LFC was doing much better, pretty sure such people would be hailing the mental/ emotional toughness of the team.

The players are going thru a bad time and openly struggling with Jota's loss. That's a real thing. However, that is not the reason we can't defend a set piece/ long throw.

{Ed025's Note - im with you Oli..

Some of you need to do a palliative care course. You do not choose which days you grieve, or know when you are going to get blind-sided.

I am also not saying it should be used as an excuse for poor performance.

Grief is grief and it takes you by surprise and there is no knowing how it will affect you from one day to the next.

The main thing I am concerned about is the players are getting the correct support at this time because the machismo in football is not really compatible with going to seek therapy. Historically football hasn’t done too well in this regard.

I agree, StEtienne.
