I think I'm one of the more pragmatic posters on here and I'm still of the view that we need time to build this new team, even if it is the whole season.

The worst case scenario for me is that we miss out on top4 but I'd still ride with Slot until we see the final outcome.

The key for me is the development of the team and our playing identity. And this is where I've also said that I would support Slot being let go if it is not looking like his methods are getting across to the team. Other important factors for me are the disconnect with Anfield because that symbiotic relationship between the crowd and team is so important.

What I see unravelling is Slot getting in his own way. I don't know if it means he's lost the locker room or not, but from what I can base my judgement on is his decisions on game day and what he says.

There are so many little things but if I were to name two it would be:

1) persisting with players who are unfit and/ or not in form. Whilst trying to embed so many new players, I don't think he has been very smart with managing the squad. and then the cherry on top is persisting with hope that the likes of Konate and Mo are going to come right. There are too many players under-performing at the same time that Slot just runs into the ground. He needs to change that to survive in the PL and manage a club that wants to compete for everything

2) the tinkering when we fall behind. It reeks of desperation and not a reliance on a plan or our identity and character pulling us back into a game. That 3rd goal yesterday is the kind of goal you would expect when you have a team of attackers on the pitch and no one tracking that run into the box.

Anyways, those two are the keys for me because they just come down to his own decision making.

What are you on about?

We’ve lost 6/ 7 prem games.

Last two have been 3-0. We’ve spent half a billion pounds and turned into a relegation side. It’s over.

I'm with you. Slot just needs to stop being too clever. Keep the Faith.

I’m pretty certain when Liverpool spent £450 million in the Summer that the thought over missing out on a top 4 spot was the furthest thing from their mind .
Arsenal purchased nearly as many players as Liverpool in the Summer window and are sitting pretty in top spot.

Good post faith. I got shot down a bit yesterday before the game for saying about the crowd and the anfield factor, but I go to quite a few of the home games and hear and see it. We were actually ok for twenty minutes, but very fragile after that. My friend was there, I wasn’t, he just said it was fairly predictable and many around him almost just resigned to a loss after the first goal went in.

All that said I didn’t expect a 0-3 at all, I just hoped for a narrow win with a spark from someone like Isak and a tightening up in defence. We’ve got easy fixtures coming up so it maybe better to try and ride this out, even though it’s painful.

No, Faith. That is not how it should or will happen.
The team has been largely poor since March, so this is not a bad spell of form.
Losing half our Premier Leagues and looking largely awful even in the wins is unacceptable with the quality he has to pick from.

I was really hoping that Slot would realise that what he was trying to do wasn’t going to work and revert back to what does - but he hasn’t and, more importantly, i don’t think he will.

He wants the team to play this way. We can point to individual mistakes by players, but it’s the same as it was with Brendan - the reason for the mistakes are the tactics employed, putting players under pressure in the wrong areas of the pitch, stripping them of confidence and belief by asking them to do things they can’t do or be things they can’t be.

So in order for this team to get back on track, he has to abandon what he believes in. That isn’t a viable position for him or the club.

Prolonging this won’t help. Get someone in who wants their team to play how this squad is set up to play and how this club has played at its best - pace, power, high intensity, front foot.

Listen we need to bring back harvet elliot in January as he's not getting a game at villa god knows why at least he played with his heart on his sleeve he lives the club and being a red.

And on a side note we will come good it's still great to be a red of liverpool than of say the d evils 11 down the road ? ?.

LFC8 - last I checked we're not in the relegation zone.

Absolute codswallop Faith. “ The worst case scenario for me is that we miss out on top4 but I'd still ride with Slot until we see the final outcome. ” The worst case scenario in our current form is relegation and we’re closer to the relegation spot than we are top of the league. Two more defeats put us in a relegation battle, you do get that don’t you? And before you say it’s not possible, it is very possible.

Getting beaten abjectly at home 3 nil by a relegation candidate while you’re in a run of defeats and being in the bottom half of the table puts us very much that mix. Slot has shown nothing in this run of defeats that shows he has learnt or is willing to ditch a system that clearly isn’t working. Winning just one league match in October and November is not acceptable.

Harvey would improve the squad depth a bit, and add a bit of passion around the place, but not sure he’d get much of a chance. Villa aren’t going to play him so he needs to find a home.

23 Nov 2025 09:50:37
@hugospritz. we've got easy fixtures coming up do we?
So Nottingham forest at home, a team before yesterday's game was on 9 points. Yet they've just smashed us at home 3-0

Before kick off, was that one of your easy games also?

There's no such thing now! Anybody can beat us. So by stating there's easy games coming out and let's just ride this out? What does that actually mean? Where are you seeing these wins against apparent easy teams coming from. Cause I'm struggling.

23 Nov 2025 10:10:11
Hugo, will you be saying the same if West Ham, another relegation candidate, turn us over next week? Their manager will take one look at us knowing we’re easy to play against, we’re physically weak, we’re disorganised, we’re awful on set pieces, have practically no midfield to speak of and barely trouble opposition keepers. I can tell you that they’d be looking at us thinking they can get three points.

As for the idea that bringing Elliott back is going to change things, that’s delusional. He barely got games last year and has barely got any this year at Villa. He lacks the physicality to be in centre midfield, he’s too slow to be a winger and he certainly not going to be picked ahead of Wirtz.

23 Nov 2025 10:35:38
The problem with a relegation battle is you need fight to get out of it. We have absolutely zero fight in the side at the moment, so if we get dragged into it. We will not get out of it playing the way we do currently.

And stop making McAllister mark the beast players on corners, it’s ridiculous. First Dan Burn, then Murillo. It’s always McAllister marking the tallest player on the pitch. Rectifying that is basic coaching and on-field management.

23 Nov 2025 10:43:42
ViktorVaughan - yeah, and try getting anyone to sign a new contract with all this going on. NOW is the time to renew Dom, Grav and Jones.

23 Nov 2025 12:02:23
Faith, you're my guy BUT we got to be real here. That perf. stunk of a manager whose players are no longer playing for him, IMO. Now if that is true and then, very little of what you say will bear any fruit cos the reality of football will always override whatever plans you still have faith in from the manager.

Slot seems not to know what he is doing or what players/ style he wants to stick to. Ed01 has told us time after time that anytime we play like last season and we win, it goes against how Slot REALLY wants to play.

We did that and smoked RM and then vs City of all teams, he went back to what doesn't work and we lost. The team and manager have lost all confidence, IMO and we all know what happens when the players stop playing for the manager. Just my take, mate.

23 Nov 2025 12:33:04
I did say maybe Vik. For me it depends on who we can get as coach. If we could get an energetic Jurgen back fantastic, but I doubt he would come back into the set up we’ve got with Edward’s etc even if he felt ready to end his break from management.

Maybe Emery could do it, he’s got the experience and stature. I like Iraola but don’t know if he’s ready, and Bournemouth aren’t exactly ripping it up this season. Glasner would get us solid, but not sure what we’d get beyond that. As for coaches based abroad I don’t watch enough to be informed.

I have been calling out Arne for style of play, fitness, and not getting tactics right. That’s the basic job of the coach so that suggests we need a change, Im just not sure who we’d go for today.

24 Nov 2025 02:16:31
Lowe - I didn't say it's a spell of form.

VV - as usual an over-reaction. I get that you're here for the drama but I'm not really here for the merry go round of managers that you would no doubt advocate for. I don't find you very enlightening to engage with, so apologies if I don't give you a more nuanced and thought-out response

Oli - yeah I don't disagree and actually that's my overall point about the conditions where I'd be ok with Slot being let go. It'd really boil down to a breakdown between Slot and the players and the team with the fans. So we're really saying the same thing

I guess the reason I picked out those two as the main factors were because they are within Slot's control. team selection and tactics. But there are so many other things going on that in my mind, make it unfair to lump that all at the feet of the manager especially since we don't actually know all the info.

An example is the recruitment. Slot sets-up the fullbkacs to give numbers to midfield and therefore they invariably play inside their winger (Which I hate btw) .

So why did we buy Kerkez and Frimpong who both excel as attacking fullbacks bombing down the wing, making overlapping runs, firing in crosses etc etc. Whose decision was that?

If that was purely Slot, then ok give him all the blame. But I don't know that at all.

Ok, maybe Hughes bought the players and to hell with Slot's tactics, he will just be given the players no matter their profile and then Slot is responsibility is to make it all work together.

If that was purely Slot, then ok give him all the blame. But I don't know that at all.

Hugo - the answer to "who next" is that there is no clear answer. Hence my caution about making a big move like that to try and address a short term issue.
