Slot isn’t the guy to lead us out of this rut, I have said this for a few weeks and stick by it. It’s like his ego won’t let him change tactics, playing the same drivel day in day out, thinking that at some point they are going to work.
Personally I hope he’s gone by Xmas, as I can only see us continue to be in freefall whilst he is still manager.

It amazes me how people can say these things with such conviction.
The truth is we don’t know why the players are playing how they are but one thing I do know is a manager doesn’t go from winning the league by taking over a squad from an iconic manager and improving them, to being clueless in a few months. No matter what anyone thinks Arne Slot won the league last season with a team he sent out every week and he coached with his tactics. We can and should give him credit for that.
Just like Wirtz doesn’t go from the most talented attacking midfielder in the world to someone who can’t play a 5 yard pass or Salah doesn’t go from the leading scorer and assist maker in the league to a washed up liability in a few months.
The players are obviously going through something right now and we can only speculate what that is but blaming Slot for Macca making a powder puff tackle in his own 18 yard box or Salah not hitting the target with every shot he’s hit for the last 10 games is just lazy.
There’s more to this than tactics. Slot doesn’t send the team out to be slow and ponderous and make error after error but that’s exactly what we are getting game after game. We are comfortable in every game but poor decision making and individual mistakes are killing us both offensively and defensively. That can’t all be on Slot, the players have to take a large chunk of the responsibility here.
Even if they aren’t happy with what they are being asked to do the very least they can do is win some tackles, second balls and take their chances when they get them.
This is more than just a manager issue and I think changing the manager will set us back for years. We need to stick together and help the players and the manager with whatever it is they are currently going through whether it’s just a loss of form and confidence or something else.
We are Liverpool, we look after our own and Arne Slot gave us number 20 so he’s one of us. We don’t need to stoop to the levels of Spurs or Chelsea with this witch hunt for the manager’s head.
YNWA.
25 Nov 2025 02:10:55
But he has gone from winning the league to being clueless in a few months.
Have you watched us play and seen our results? Only Wolves have a worst record in the last 6 or 7 games.
Or please tell us how he is making us better and turning the corner as personally I can't see it but I'd love to hear how you or any other poster can put a case for him.
Or are we doing the "well he was good last year"? Because its not last year, its this year, and its going very very badly.
25 Nov 2025 04:53:05
Robbo, Mourinho twice, Ranieri and Conte are all managers that were sacked the season after winning a league title. Stop acting like this is unprecedented, it’s happened multiple times and it rarely gets turned around.
Everything else you said is what Manchester United supporters have been saying about Ten Hag and Amorim the last few seasons. I’m not saying sack Slot now but take your bloody head out of the sand.
25 Nov 2025 05:58:43
“Slot doesn’t send the team out to be slow and ponderous”
That’s exactly what he does.
We know he prefers the possession style to control a game.
It’s true that individuals aren’t performing right now as well but don’t let that take away from the tactics.
They are being asked to play with less intensity and it isn’t working.
25 Nov 2025 06:20:58
Your so wrong Robbo.
25 Nov 2025 06:40:43
Except the players intervened which led to the more intense style against Villa and Madrid, only for Slot to then immediately return to the 'style' which has been getting poor results.
Look I understand the idea of prolonging fitness over the course of a season with a slower approach to the game with a more European style, but it just doesn't suit the Premier league, doesn't suit the players we have and spent a lot of money on, doesn't suit the culture of the club and doesn't actually help with keeping our players injury free.
Worst of all, everyone can see it. I completely understand the support and YNWA attitude and commend anyone supporting Slot for it, but for me Slot came in with a reputation for being flexible and right now his stubbornness is costing us. If he doesn't mix it up, he'll be gone.
Hey, maybe that's what he wants! It's not like his family live over here with him and he's only got 19 months left of his contract I think.
25 Nov 2025 07:00:35
How did the players “intervene”? Why don’t they “intervene” every week?
OP, can you explain how Slot shows his ego? Genuine question.
25 Nov 2025 07:07:32
Robbo mate you are so wrong in this . Slot does send the team out to play like that . We know exactly why they play this way, he tells them to. The drop off started the end of feburary, 6 . months in to the season, enough time for the deconditioning of their fitness from the previous regime to start .
that's what's happend. They are unfit, the tactics are awful, team selection is awful, substitutes are awful its all on Slot . When they played Madrid the players asked to be more aggressive and look what happend. Then he reverted back to type. He needs to go now.
25 Nov 2025 07:23:31
WDW - Slot is refusing to change tactics that aren’t working / unable or failing to look at other tactics / perspectives - that’s stubborn or egotistical or both.
The players held a meeting without Slot and looked good for the 2 games following. Therefore, they intervened.
I’m half with Robbo on this, Slot won us number 20 so deserves a proper chance to turn this around. So far this season some key players were unfit, injured or letting him down badly on the pitch. New players bought don’t fit his system. None of that is his fault. So he deserves more time, but he needs to show flexibility, that he can motivate the players and find a way of structuring the team to win games by any means. As the games go by, unfortunately this is looking less and less likely and looks like a task beyond him. I’m not sure who could come in and take on the task either. Looks like the club is in a real mess.
25 Nov 2025 07:48:31
WDW it’s ego because it appears Slot would prefer to sink and potentially get sacked than make an obvious change to the long term playing style.
I have been far more critical of Slot since the Real game. That game showed him what the team could do and what suited them. To then go away from that back to the same system that’s seen us struggle is staggering.
We’ve gone from outfighting Real to getting easily dispatched by Forest who had won two games prior all season.
My view is that Slot sees this form as a “blip” and will take comfort from the fact we were top of the table by a few points not so long ago. The issue is that was a false position. We had been very lucky upto that point and the reality is we’ve been mostly poor for quite some time.
25 Nov 2025 09:15:04
Robbo, as you can guess, you're in a minority here. His decisions, nobody else's, have put us out of the PL title race currently, has diminished moral and confidence in both squad and supporters. Worse, he has coached out the fitness and aggression required to be PL contenders.
There's other repetitive issues already discussed to death on here. I for one would have zero issues in seeing him succeed from here on in, unlikely but possible, but also I'd have zero issues in seeing him depart pre Christmas either.
25 Nov 2025 10:17:38
I understand everyone’s frustration but my initial comment still stands.
You all talk like what you’re saying is the confirmed truth. That Slot is sending the team out to play slowly and keep losing and he won’t budge because he’s arrogant.
Take a step back from that analyse it. Why on earth would Slot do that? It makes no sense whatsoever and he’s not a stupid man.
There’s more to this than tactics. These players and probably the manager are dealing with something that we don’t know about.
25 Nov 2025 10:33:08
WDW - it was discussed on here, and I believe Ed001 also confirmed, that the players wanted to play a more aggressive fast paced style against RM and Villa, which Slot agreed with but then reverted back to the slow possession style. Whether that is 100% true or not, I don't know as it doesn't make sense even as I type it. Intentionally abandoning a winning formula seems like madness to me. The objective truth though is that Slot is overseeing the style change that does not play to our teams strengths and is producing relegation form.
Does anybody really think he's still going to be manager if we lose the next 6 out of 7 PL games? I see no evidence of Slot influencing any changes or enforcing any sort of plan needed to turn this around. Hope I am wrong but I think he's already gone in the minds of many fans.
25 Nov 2025 13:47:51
Some people will just keep going from one excuse to another. Wasn’t there a poster not long ago telling us all I told you so after the Madrid or Villa game, only for Liverpool to concede 6 in the next 2 games?
25 Nov 2025 12:36:02
Robbo, he's done it and continues to do it because he believes it's the best way to get the most out of his squad. But he's wrong. Obviously. Perhaps there are other things at fault here but if I was him, I'd start problem solving by going back to what works in game time.
Otherwise he'll not need to worry about anything else further down the line.
25 Nov 2025 13:06:22
Maybe your right Robbo. If so I honestly hope whatever it is is being worked through with peoples wellbeing in mind.
That said we don't know this to be true either. All we can have opinions on are what we see on the pitch and the knowledge that LFC, whether we like it or not is a business. What we see is relegation form being produced by a team largely consisting of current champions and very expensive players. Slot is responsible for managing that regardless of what the background context may be.
If this happens in my place of work I get sacked. To avoid this I remove people that are not performing. The stakes are much higher at a business level for LFC. So why is Konate still playing? Trent lost his place when he was no longer in the long term thinking, so why does this not apply to Konate who has been nothing but a liability most games this season? Only Slot can answer that, and for he is therefore answerable. That's a microcosm of everything people are commenting on regarding Slots ability turn this around, and people doubts about whether he can.
I reiterate that if we double up on our current form for the season, let alone the run of 6 losses in 7 PL games, we are in the bottom half, fear of missing out on the CL and the prestige / cash that brings will continue to bubble up and decisions to avoid risk will be made above Slot if he cannot avert it. Right or wrong is subjective, but money as always will prevail.
25 Nov 2025 14:30:31
It’s not excuses Irish I really have no interest in making excuses for a bunch of people I don’t even know.
It’s more just reading between the lines. There is no way in the world that any manager, let alone a title winning manager would send a team out to play like we are playing and keep doing it.
The players are struggling and we can talk until the cows come home about why that could be but one thing is for certain, It’s not the manager telling them to miss tackles, not challenge for second balls, make basic errors and miss chances.
He has to take his share of the blame because at the end of the day the buck stops with him but once the players cross the white line it’s down to them and for whatever reason they are not doing it.
It seems if Ed1 says it then it must be true but as much as I respect his opinion that’s all it is. He’s not there day in day out so it’s impossible for him to know what’s being said or done behind the scenes. We all appreciate the site and his input but we don’t have to hang on his every word like some do.
I wouldn’t actually be totally against Slot being sacked as long as we’ve got a better replacement lined up and I really don’t know who that would be. I’m seeing Ireola or Glasner mentioned which for me would be football suicide. They are not good enough and would send us into a Spurs like downward spiral.
