So a question to ask for anyone to answer. When signing Wirtz it was said he chose us due to the project Slot had planned and how it would include Wirtz as a major part of it. What was this project? Is this dire football we’ve been watching the project?

Isak and Wirtz have been bought for the long-term to replace Salah's superhuman G/ A.
The forward line permutations wouldn't be talking points had we balanced the summer out with some defensive minded players.

To be fair, the same problems that apparently slot can't see might not have registered with a young German who's never played in England. Perhaps the idea was great on paper to him but he failed to take into account the fitness requirements and the need for some physicality in the EPL.
I'm fully convinced Wirtz will be a star for us for years to come, I'm not fully convinced that will be under slot.

I agree Fly, the 'plan' was life without Salah. The problem is Salah is still here in the short term and the balance is completely off, but hasn't allowed any of it the chance to gel. And Slot wasn't able, or willing to stick our highest earner on the bench.
I'd imagine the plan is building the team around Wirtz long term, I'm just hoping this period of awful tactics isn't putting a spanner in that and maybe allowing Wirtz to question if Liverpool is the place for him.

People are very quick to forget the quality of players we have. I'm still delighted with how the summer went - sure we needed a CB but I'm very happy with the players we got, we'll soon see them shine but Slot has to go first.

For me Wirtz will only be top class when he proves it at Liverpool and you can add Isak to that as well. It means nothing to me that they’ve done quite well at lesser clubs. They have both proved nothing yet.

Like Ranieri, the stars aligned for Slot, never to repeat.
A great coach will find a way to make all of our world class attackers work - a defender should be bamboozled on which to mark.
Iraola would improve movement, systems and interplay in a short while IMO.
Slot will go down as a pub quiz question following an anomalous season, in my opinion.

Johnny Bellwhiff I brought up how will any manager find space for all the attackers the moment we signed them. When I seen the first few pre season games it was an obvious problem. All running into the same spaces. Trying to include everyone in perfect quick passing moves.
No structure in the format. I said it on here. Everybody was just soooo excited with the signings. The Isak saga and so on. I'm totally convinced letting Diaz go and loosing Jota have had a massive effect.

Fully agree salah. Best window I've ever seen by us, showed real intent to keep on top. who could of guessed slot was going to ruin it all. We just need an attack minded manager to get the joy back for me. And keep grav back.

Just saying, but all this will look pretty stupid when it all clicks.
I appreciate that doesn't look likely but at the same time, this is what the project is about.
you still have to work through the journey to get towards the end goal.
No one said it'll just be an easy walk to the end.
