What are we waiting on here? A final result to put a nail in the coffin in challenging atall for the league, with the players we have?
To go out of the champions league a lot sooner than expected and have financial strangulation for the following season/ seasons. If slots kept on and it severely damages us, Hughes and Edwards should be going to.
"we're Liverpool, we don't sack managers this early". Hence why we were left behind for years.
Slot hasn't a clue how to fix this. This is only prolonging the pain. A few decent results, then the final nail on the coffin to this dross and a season completely wrote off. The football is appalling. Forget individual mistakes. This football belongs in the bin.

Batman, I've said a few times on here, we're backing him for the time being, at least. Suck if up, because he's going no where.
29 Nov 2025 17:11:41
Maybe you should suck it up because the sack is coming for him.

Batman7
Agreed ?
Too many people on here are rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic.
£450 million.
These are NOT bad players. They prove it when they play for their respective countries.
Then they return to Liverpool and look like they are Spavined.!
There you go an Aintree expression. Spavined.!

Season not written off. Second placed City barely managed to scrape past a woeful Leeds side after losing their last two since beating us.
If some thought the league was "weak" last year I would argue there is only one consistent side this season. We win tomorrow we're 4 points off second and potentially 8 points off the top.
In another month that can obviously change. Not advocating for Slot far from it but I believe in the players that we have and we can turn this around. I think we will see a change in manager and maybe we don't turn it around until then. I'm sure Hughes has a plan rain or shine.

Really good article by the always thoughtful journalist Jonathan Northcroft in the Times today. He makes a really interesting point about how managerial sackings have accelerated since the launch of the iPhone. Ie social media has made everyone less patient, and trigger-happy.
He also pointed out how many more PMs we have had since the iphone launch in 2007, compared to the preceding 20 years.
There are, of course, more complex factors behind it all, but I do think we would all benefit from decision makers slowing down and taking stock before being forced into knee jerk decisions.
29 Nov 2025 17:34:32
We are currently 14th. Why should we suck it up?
29 Nov 2025 17:53:34
Attention spans are shorter, hence peoples tolerance for dross is less. Slot has been churning out atrocious football for sometime now.
Aside from the tribal and communal elements of being a football fan, we are here to be entertained.
Slot is welded to his one narrow vision of how the game should be played, and is more focused on that than working out how to get out of this aweful slump.
29 Nov 2025 17:22:00
Beg Tets, why should you, me and everyone else suck it up? Because, as it stands, Slot is being backed. THAT, is why we have to suck it up.
29 Nov 2025 17:23:21
???? it's all Apples fault.
Behave knee Jerk reaction. Our poor play and results have Sweet FA to do with anything but the manager. We went from one of the best personality's in football to one of the worst. He now has to inspire a team who frankly don't trust him.
29 Nov 2025 17:38:59
Monstersouness he's lost 9 out of the last 12. I don't care what phone you have that calls for sacking.
29 Nov 2025 17:50:54
Knee jerk reactions towards slot? Have you witnessed the absolute rubbish performances we've had since winning league. Don't think it would matter if we signed the best players in the world, he'd just destroy their confidence straight away. Well out of his depth. Won the league last year playing klopps players and style. Credit where credit is due he did swap things early on in games when it wasn't working to great effect.
Captain chaos and jota saved his bacon several times. Which manager changes a title winning sides set up, just to create his own legacy and sets in motion the destruction of such a successful style. Not for me sorry. And from day 1 I said his time will come this season, however the players brought in, I could see a build of a great team but he's destroyed all that with his slow boring no press team. Get him out.
29 Nov 2025 20:37:25
Rome1977. We will see exactly how long he is backed. Start seeing LFC as a multi billion dollar business and not as a faith-powered passion project, and you may find out very soon that Slot is not really being backed at all.
29 Nov 2025 21:17:30
I'm not blind as to know we can't keep on losing, and after Wednesday I'd shifted towards a change. All I'm saying is, it's mid season and I don't believe our hierarchy are trigger happy. All this tosh about appointing Gerrard as an interim, which has been said on here, just isn't going to happen. There is no obvious solution at this moment to our plight.
29 Nov 2025 23:06:07
There's one glaringly simple solution. Sack Slot. Appoint Iraola.
30 Nov 2025 09:04:22
we weren't left behind for years because of something to do with not sacking managers early.
we were left behind because we got caught on our heels as football commercialized and then we just didn't plan ahead very well. There is way more nuance to that obviously lol but this isn't the same as back then.
back to the OP. what are we waiting for? I think that assumes the end goal is to win something next year.
If the end goal is more along the lines of winning lots of things over the next 5-6 years, then perhaps what happens this year is of less importance to the big picture. Need to be heading in a direction tho and I guess for many fans that doesn't seem clear what the direciton is.
