ED001, surely its time for Slot to be gone, heard a few people on here saying the fans are behind him . i know a few sang his name when we beat West ham but majority can see its more than not working this season .

so why do you think the reason he is still here . is it that there isn't any credible alternatives at this moment, if not a interim has got to come in, it can't be any worse than what's on offer.

{Ed001's Note - Edwards and Hughes personally chose him, he is their man, they believe in him and so are giving him as much time as possible to turn things round.}

This is why I said Hughes should be held to account yesterday. Not saying we shouldn’t sack slot definitely should, but saying his position should be looked at as well.

To me it looks obvious that Slot's vision for how the team should play is completely inappropriate for the premier league, almost like a fantasy that he concocted.
Thinking he could solve two of the issues under Klopp (end of season fatigue and injuries) by changing training to rondo's and banishing the lactate test without considering the consequences is amateur and egotistical.

I appreciate that Diogo's passing may be hanging heavy around the place, and we can't really quantify the effect this has had, but it seems obvious to me that Slot lacks certain leadership qualities and is a bit of a legend in his own mind.

We have gone from heavy metal football to supermarket music in the space of 18 months. The Athletic called this last summer - Slot's tactical set up provides diminishing returns after season 1.

I get that Eddie and Rich have to stick their choice, but how far can this go? We play awful football and are easy to play against.

Slot's vision is not working and he has no solutions. He didn't even sound sincere when he finally accepted the blame.

Eds, what can be done? Iraola would have L4 bouncing in no time, in my opinion. The crowd loves to see fight in the players. Under Slot its like everyone had a fat joint before the game.

You would honestly think a loss at Leeds and it's curtains. Get Stevie G and Gary Mcallister in for a bit of a bounce over Xmas and work on a permanent replacement.

It's only a matter of time now.

The players are defeated. The fans are flat. He looks dejected.

I assume the suits are actively lining up the next man as there's been nothing to suggest it can turned around. We started last night's game like we didn't want to be there.

It's just sad isn't it?

Heavy metal football left in 2020 after our league title under Klopp. So I don't get why people keep saying that we should return to it. We've not played it for at least 5 years now. What we do need is intensity and purpose to our play.

It's so slow and disorganised. Even last seasons football, even though it wasn't high octane was better as we could see what the plan was. There isn't one this season.

The only thing I will say in Slots defence is that the transition away from the aggressive Klopp style wasn't just him. We were heading that way under Pep Ljinders for two seasons before Slot came in anyway. Difference being then we had peak Ali, VVD, a hard working defensively focused midfield and Salah on fire to cover the deficits to the style of play. For me this coalesced into the best version of what this could be last season with the PL win, and whilst it was great, I put this down more to other top teams being off the pace rather than us being brilliant. Fast forward to now and Slots refusal to play a DM, lack of a physical game plan, other teams getting back to high standards and VVD and Salah falling off a cliff have all coalesced into the worst version of what this style could be.

Just my take, but for my part I have been saying the standard of footy has been poor for at least 3 years, relying more on individual moments of pure class rather than being a good 'team'. Weird as it sounds, the current situation doesn't really suprise me that much.
We need to transition to something that makes the most of the future of this team, without Salah, without VVD, and based on his inability to make it happen, without Slot either.

With respect to Gerrard and McAllister, given their managerial CV’s, neither of them should be even thought about for this as they’re proven failures.

If hughes and edwards are backing him, which is fine, but slot is taking the p. by not even improving 1 aspect of the game.

04 Dec 2025 14:44:24
I get that VV but surely just to fire these players up for a few weeks whilst someone suitable is found couldn't be any worse than what were seeing?

Thing is Ernest, being diplomatic about this, Gerrard is a complete and utter personality vacuum and I can’t see him remotely being able to motivate anyone let alone a bunch of underperforming millionaires, he certainly couldn’t do it at Villa or out in Saudi. To call him a dullard is an understatement. He really should not be in contention or the discussion.

Let’s just remember what happened at United with Solskaer and Chelsea with Lampard as that’s the most likely outcome with Gerrard. Great players, but all the personality of a weekend in Slough.
