How do a team that are so terrible to watch, so turgid so slow have the 2nd highest amount of non setpiece goals in the league behind only City.
31 Dec 2025 18:12:50
How many have we conceded from set pieces. You’ll find we’ve conceded the most.
31 Dec 2025 18:36:08
Because aside from City nobody is playing decent football. We are the worst set piece team in the top 5 European leagues. If we could defend set pieces we would be challenging at the top despite our ’turgid’ football.
31 Dec 2025 18:36:23
Coz we’ve got Hugo Ekitike.
31 Dec 2025 18:49:13
Imagine if we found a bit of klopp football in this team. Slot found a bit of slot football in klopps team and won the league. Slot, please find the right balance again, we have the squad for it.
31 Dec 2025 18:55:48
How have we only a goal difference of 4 when city and Arsenal are sitting around 25?
31 Dec 2025 19:36:33
Not my point Viktor, was pointing out how a team with the 2nd most goals from open play can't be that hard to watch.
31 Dec 2025 19:48:29
Florian I understand you are entitled to your opinion but this obvious and constant glazing of the situation is becoming a little tiresome mate. You simply cannot deny this football is unattractive and unenjoyable to watch, life is short, I'd rather watch good football and throw caution to the wind than play like this even if it resulted in a trophy (that you and I will NEVER even touch by the way) .
Maybe Slot will come good but there's nothing to suggest he is going to, please just have a bit more understanding to people who can clearly see and decide with their own eyes instead of trying to mock with posts like this.
31 Dec 2025 20:17:29
Florian if you think we’re an exciting watch then good for you mate.
Others don’t have to share your opinion on the excitement level and can still support the club.
31 Dec 2025 20:33:19
Florian. Go and have a drink it’s going to be soon 2026, then stay off the booze for the remainder as it’s clearly clouding your judgment. We may have the second highest goals from open play, but we have the worst number of goals conceded in EUROPE and are not challenging for a title we won last year and bought heavily in the summer to retain.
This utter dross that’s being played under slots instruction is not a long term viable option, sooner you realise that the better or are you happy with pointless stats and zero trophies?
31 Dec 2025 20:39:52
If we were winning every game, but playing the same, would anyone be whining?
All that matters, is winning. We could play the best football ever - better than Brazil 1970 - Argentina of the 70s/ 80s; Newcastle in the 90s. and lose.
We could play like Wimbledon and win.
What matters?
Winning. Why are so many of you hung up on entertainment?
31 Dec 2025 20:56:17
Trqstu, you ask Florian to have more understanding but then accuse them off glazing the situation.
Whether FM is right or wrong, at least they provided some evidence to back up their point.
We're not all going to agree and if you find someone constantly disagreeing with you tiresome then maybe that's your problem.
Why not continue the debate or just ignore those that you can't be bothered with?
I have more than a few on here that have me rolling my eyes but I choose to get involved and I'd sooner them keep posting than not.
I don't expect people to post to suit me or reinforce my views.
Which is just as well, really ?.
31 Dec 2025 21:57:08
It’s hard to watch then the midfield can be sliced open at will and almost every set piece feels like we’ll concede.
31 Dec 2025 22:05:33
And Trqstu i think a lot of you are living in a dreamland. Theproblem on here is when we were going through our horrendous run everyone went on the Slot out train. And now when were turning it around everyones to stubborn now to give dues.
To the point where Slots been blamed on kiddies not playing and analysts leaving on here the last week. literally mental.
31 Dec 2025 22:38:05
Cooler, the issue is we are winning for now but howling will it last? We can easily be losing the majority of these games, it’s not the tactics winning us these it’s the quality of the players. If we had better tactics we would be at least challenging for the prem and CL with this squad, nothing is guaranteed in life but the tactics we are using is not going to win anything.
I firmly believe the higher ups will over rule Hughes and Edward’s when time permits and I don’t think it will take much next bad run slot is gone.
31 Dec 2025 22:45:18
Rigsby I am anything but surprised in you providing another controversial view. I didn't state FM disagreeing with me, rather EVERYONE that is unhappy with the current system. I add that I don't need to state evidence to back up the points I made, the evidence is shown on an almost weekly basis on the tele or at the ground, the football we are playing would bring a tear to a glass eye mate, it's awful and we're scraping wins against teams unfit for the league, surely you can see that mate. Slot lover or hater, or impartial, he has us playing terrible football, there isn't countless people saying it without subtance.
FM I do agree some go too far and it is getting a bit out of hand, some claims borderline ridiculous. However I do think another one of those is that you're claiming Slot's turned it round, scraping past the championship bound teams, coming out looking like we had the 9 men vs Spurs and deep breath afterwards, I don't think anything has necessarily improved other than the results which can't be sustained like this. It's mind boggling to say the least and the defeats are incoming. I hope I'm wrong and take no pleasure in being right but we are a shadow of the team under Slot's first few months. All the best to you both and happy new year Rigsby and Florian.
31 Dec 2025 23:07:21
Florian posts a stat showing a positive aspect of our season and people lose their minds at him. The stat is still a good one.
31 Dec 2025 23:23:47
No one is losing their minds Darwin another misconception by you, two tonight, lay off the drink mate.
01 Jan 2026 00:25:26
@Dross, I don’t drink mate although i might have a ginger beer when we win the Champions League in May :)
01 Jan 2026 00:55:41
Trqstu, your post was directed at Florian. The first word is Florian but I suppose that is better than you speaking for EVERYONE that is unhappy with the current system.
I don't think I said anything controversial. I just asked you to show the same understanding that you are asking Florian to show.
What is controversial is saying that the teams we are beating are not fit for the League or Championship bound to illustrate how bad we have been. We play in the PL and they are PL teams. We've also beaten Arsenal and Aston Villa this season.
It's not controversial or a lack of understanding to disagree with the majority; especially when I don't think Florian, myself or anyone has said we are happy with the way we are playing.
The results, possibly.
We have been awful but not to the extent that many on here claiming. I've read posters talking about relegation, not winning another game and being the worst side they have seen in a decade.
I can be happy with a win but unhappy about the performance. But I look for reasons why we are playing so poorly and hope we can turn it around. I'm not going to stop watching, want people sacked after a few months or a load of new signings because it's unrealistic and it won't work.
I love watching sports because I don't know what is going to happen. If I wanted to see us win every game and play exhilarating football I'd put on some old games instead.
Happy New Year to you, too, mate ?.
01 Jan 2026 02:11:38
We went through an awful run so the team has to adapt and they are.
We can’t go all guns blazing and get picked off on the break, teams are literally setting up to play against us that way.
We need to be more secure in transition which means playing slower and not getting so many players forward. So far it’s working.
I’m sure once the players regain confidence we will see better football but literally no team in the league is playing super attacking full throttle football because they’ll get beat if they do.
The Fonz is right, it’s all about winning and we are finding a way to win. 4th in the league with a game in hand over Villa so a chance to get within 4 points of 3rd.
Not what we all hoped for but you can’t win the league every season and we are there or thereabouts for top 3 going into the new year. It’s not all bad.
01 Jan 2026 02:13:44
People keep talking about the 'the tactics' but the tactics have actually been changing game by game, especially since Salah has been taken off, and few folks besides Davey actually go into the specifics of what they're talking about. To me a lot of time on here it reads as shorthand for 'not klopp's football', or more cautious and focussed on keeping the ball than we are used to.
The suggestion that you 'don't win anything with these tactics' is a bit perplexing considering arsenal are likely to win the league this year, a team even more obsessed with caution and ball retention, who stockpile center halves like nobody's business (which has contributed to their success) and who are much better at scoring and defending set pieces than we are (though we were almost as good as them last season, so what happened, nobody knows) . Mourinho was a serial winner, tuchel won the champions league, etc. I didn't know that only gegenpressing teams were entitled to win titles.
And on the subject of 'we could easily have lost
' games that we won, I beg to differ, we wouldn't have deserved to lose any of those games, and we very much deserved to win. Dropping points in games now has more to do with us throwing them away, it's not at all like our losing run where we were struggling to finish even when we were playing decently, losing duels all over the field and conceding non stop on counters or set pieces.
We were easily the better team in all of those games we won, and even in games we have drawn in the unbeaten run (Leeds, Sunderland) but we let in stupid goals, mostly in set piece situations. The problem with us is that we can be playing well and cruising, let in a goal through a set piece and collapse. That has to be addressed, but to read some posters on here it's almost like we scored flukey goals and then hold on for dear life as the other team gets chance after chance against us. Even looking at the stats after the games it's plain to see that this isn't the case at all.
I wonder sometimes if we are supporting the team or supporting a certain idea of football. I'm not entirely convinced that slot's idea of football is negative either, by the way, and I retain hope that with confidence, players continuing to bed in and one or two additions we will look a very different team. Whatever the case, I do think recent games give us something to feel optimistic about, but that's just me.

Excellent post @PB.
01 Jan 2026 09:13:45
Top post, PatrickBurgher.
01 Jan 2026 15:56:15
Load of nonsense Patrick how come smaller teams bring in whole new defences and are doing well? We bring in less and are playing terrible slow ponderous crap?
01 Jan 2026 22:37:36
@Dross, what’s a “smaller” team? Is it one that your sense of entitlement automatically assumes that we should beat? Can you name a smaller team that has brought in a “whole new defence” that is above us in the League?
