Hey Ed25

Trust you're well mate.

Just saw the replays of your pens against Sunderland.
I might have to watch them again. but those pens were some of the worst I've ever seen mate.

Thanks for putting the pressure on us to keep the Merseyside flag flying high in the FACup.

{Ed025's Note - they were abysmal JLC, Garner,s one was a very good save actually but the 2 from Millican and Nesbitt were a joke mate, i hope i find you and yours well my friend..

Not to worry @25 - you can concentrate on a big push to finish in the top half of the PL now.

{Ed025's Note - i doubt we will get that high with this squad WDW..

11 Jan 2026 03:21:30
Another false dawn, Ed?

{Ed025's Note - it seems that way DE, the squad is threadbare mate but some of the players we have bought are nothing short of woeful, but we go again and live in hope rather than expectation..

11 Jan 2026 11:38:43
Everton are like most teams in the league tbf. Struggle with squad depth because they have too many first team players paid huge amounts who just don't do enough to merit it each week. The squads are padded with either young or much lesser players, when injuries kick in the drop off is big.

There are very few teams who consistently outperform expectation. Brentford, Brighton and maybe Fulham are the exceptions.

I really thought Dibling would turn out to be a lot better than he has, ed.

{Ed025's Note - i know hes only young PB but he looks awful mate, runs as though he is playing on treacle and has that dozy manner about him like Kevin from "Kevin and Perry", we paid £40+M for him and it looks like we were ripped off big time mate..

11 Jan 2026 10:26:55
When you find a manager ed025 whose basic instinct is success rather than survival then you'll have a chance to prosper. Until then looks like not.

{Ed025's Note - i think Moyes was appointed as a temporary measure last season to get us safe and consolidate us Avit, he fulfilled that brief but as you say if we are to progress im with you that we need a less pragmatic manager mate, but we also need better players and thats down to TFG to sort out..

11 Jan 2026 11:37:31
Blimey Ed025
Millican and Nesbitt. That really is showing your age. Although that pair would probably have taken better penalties even at their age now.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely Gaga, but even barring those pathetic penalties the 2 we have up front are not worth a J Arthur mate..

11 Jan 2026 13:00:13
J Arthur Rank - showing your age there @25. You did make me laugh though - 2nd time in a week that someone on the forum has made me laugh which is a good sign following the interminable 'we are crap' theme,

{Ed025's Note - yeah you have to be of a certain age WDW, i dont like all this gloom and doom mate either so try to lighten things up when i can mate.. :)

11 Jan 2026 13:19:11
First step for your lot Ed25 should be getting rid of Moyes, he can't take you any further. Second step is getting some good players lol.

Plus side for you is that you're not in the position you were last season, it could be worse mate!

{Ed025's Note - im with you on Moyes Salah, i never wanted him back mate..been there done that, he has fulfilled his brief i suppose but now i think its time to move on..

11 Jan 2026 13:47:33
So many players taking penalties these days think they have to out think the goalkeeper and send him the wrong way. But then look stupid when the keeper makes a run of the mill save. Do players even practice penalties. Top bin left or right with a bit of pace surely increases the percentage of scoring.

Not everyone can score with a Pannenka. All this stop start then follow up with weak shot. Should take a leaf out of Henry or Pires technique. Oh wait, maybe not.

Grealish has flattered to deceive a bit as well hasn't he, started well but hasn't really sustained it. A couple of times I've watched Everton this season he didn't look particularly fit, but he's never been quick so it's hard to tell.

{Ed025's Note - he does a very good job for us Hugo, not blessed with speed but hardly ever loses the ball and sets up some great chances for others, i just wish he would come inside more and have a few more shots mate..

11 Jan 2026 19:55:28
With Everton, it's the world as we know it, I guess.

I remember watching England in the World Cup with Chris Waddle playing on the right side looking about 2 stones overweight. There was a shot of him where he was bent slightly doubled over with his hands on his hips sucking in the big ones.

The commentator picked up on it and said they must be suffering with all the effort in the heat and humidity and he said before they came out to the WC Waddle had tested as the fittest player in the squad, which still makes me laugh.

I mention this because Grealish reminds me a lot of Waddle in some ways. Both technically very good, but both prone not to over exerti themselves.

When Everton don't have the ball they are down to 10 men straight away (well 9 if you count Barry) but watch Grealish if he is in shot, he just strolls about. He is a good player in a very good team but he's a liability in an average team. He's nice to have but he isn't what you need at the moment.
