Just wondering what manager would people want us to sign if it was just between Alonso or Enrique? For me it would be Enrique as i think he's a bit more proven than Alonso, not that I'm against Alonso in any way.

Enrique or Sebastian Hoeness.

Did you understand the question @Barry ?.

Sebastian Hoeness would be my choice too Barry. However, if Alonso is willing to take the job, there is a part of my that is a bit romantic and really likes that idea. I think Enrique is an exceptional manager but he's also 55 years old and I'd really like a manager who will build a dynasty for 8-10 years like what Pep has done at Man City.

Would Enrique be able to carry on into his 60's with the same level of intensity.

Enrique would be my top choice as well if he was available.

Enrique would also be my top choice, partly because he'd be great for us, partly because he'd also be great for Citeh. That said, Alonso was our top choice to replace Klopp, and perhaps he'd be the best fit.

My order of preference is: 1. Enrique
2. Alonso
3. Nagelsmann.

What is the attraction of Hoeness vs Slonso guys? Alonso has achieved more in the game has he not? I doubt people have seen much of Stuttgart so just why people are pointing for him over Alonso?

14 Jan 2026 13:43:55
Gvardiol, for me it's his personality. Hoeness just comes across as an authentic leader. His style of play is also enjoyable to watch and he achieved success with a team he had no right to do so with. Alonso has a lot of these attributes as well to be fair.

It's not that I'd prefer Hoeness because I think he's better, I'm just not sure if I want Alonso because I've romanticised it, or because he's actually a good fit. I'm questioning my own impartiality basically, because I love Alonso too much to be unbiased about him.

Alonso had bayer playing some great football i watched them a lot when he became the manager, one of the reasons I was so excited when we signed wirtz, hoeness is also a good manager and his team play good football.

Sebastian Hoeness is a interesting one, and i can't say i've seen much of him. But i would still pick Enrique based on accolades so far.

Maybe bring Alonso and Enrique together as joint managers. Has this ever been tried before?

14 Jan 2026 19:24:22
Evans and Houlier were joint managers for a short while.

Enrique. Alonso a close second.
