If anyone thinks sacking slot now would cost us fourth place take a look at Man U. Is that 2 wins in 2 now for them? And now they're above us and we'll be playing catch up all season while slot is in charge.

Where's Faithinworks to tell us how this is all part of the plan and finishing outside the top six is ok.

If we're sacking managers because Man U have won 2 games with a new manager then we're truly lost as a club.

Sack him if you have a replacement ready.

Otherwise you'll end up as shambolic as ManU have been.

If Carrick wins the ManU job permanently that's a huge win for Liverpool.

Think he's at the super fan convention.

And this is the terrible Utd, club in turmoil, worst United team in years etc etc etc, seems a new manager is helping them. They have more points in their last 2 games than we have in our last 5.

Plus Villa win again to go further ahead of us, but 'we'll catch them'
Think its time to get someone new in and give them a chance to improve the awful football we're playing.

Think the point of the post has gone over your head Ron. If we want to get champions league we need to act now not when we've slipped even further. Newcastle and city next, I can't see us winning those. When's it time to bite the bullet? When we're truly out of it or when we've still got a chance?

What does or doesn't happen to other clubs is irrelevant. Comparing us with Chelsea or United or whoever is meaningless. We have to put our own house in order and focus on ourselves.

Slot has to go now, he is tactically lost in the PL and the team just isn't functioning. The issue needs to be addressed and the club needs to act now if it is to achieve (at least some of) their goals for this season.

Ron, I always like your posts, u talk good deal of sense and not over reactionary on things.
What would u do if u in charge of lfc as regards management?

25 Jan 2026 22:10:22
Whoever gets the Manchester United job doesn't concern us, it's not a 'huge win'. Why are we acting like that effect did whatsoever. With the squad we have, a decent manager would have us pacing Arsenal, City and Villa.

Sinking low to get our jollies from Manchester United giving a manager a job.

Spot on, WDW. i couldn't give a rats behind what other clubs do cos they don't act based on what we do. We have our own laundry to wash and dry and clearly, we don't know if that is even happening.

Slot needed to go months ago and if you couldn't get the guy you wanted and needed to give him a chance to steady the ship then, cool. The risk you take by doing that is that the window you to sack him may have gone if things don't work out and it could be too late. This is where we are, IMO.

Slot's ego and arrogance has always been the problem and he will destroy this club's ambitions this season just top prove a point that his system works, come hell or high water so like you, he needs to go now cos top 4 ain't happening with him at the helm. NO WAY!

Ron is a contrarian, if the majority says we want Slot gone he'll say the grass isn't always greener, despite the lawn in front of us being on fire.

Digger I've always been consistent in saying "don't change managers mid season unless you're in crisis".

It reeks of desperation and that is not a good look for a team which wants to win.

The league table never tells the full story until you've played each team home and away.

I don't believe we're in crisis. I believe we're playing poorly but that is different. Crisis to me is out of the champions league and mathematically unable to qualify for next season.

Otherwise I would evaluate all football operations at the end of the season when you have a full season of data. That's director of football, head coach, other coaches, scouting team and of course - players.

I'd say - so far - Salah is finished, Virgil is finished, MacAllister has underperformed, Robbo is finished, Gravenberch is under pressure, Bradley is under pressure and Konate is gone.

We need a manager who is used to a lot of player turnover and can deal with squad depletion.

That puts Iraola ahead of others in my book. He's proven to handle squad turnover well in the premier league.
