Liverpool are advancing on a deal for Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes. Package of £55m plus £5m currently under discussion. The signing would be for next season, and we would be beating out Chelsea to his signature.
Never seen the guy, anyone know if he is any good?

Not seen him, Mango. All reports suggest he's good. It still won't stop some saying Hughes has to go and he's out of his depth.
This is all supposing the deal happens, of course.

According to Romano this deal is done for the summer. Not sure why we couldn't just buy him in this window.

60 million for a prospect? Hughes has got no problem spending the clubs money. Thought he was supposed to find players no one had really heard of? If we paying that for a prospect what's it going to cost to replace virg? Can't really put that pressure on a couple kids.

I don't think many of us had heard of Jacquet, scouse john. Well, I hadn't up till a few weeks back. Can only assume that VVD plays out his contract and Jacquet and Leoni get the chance to play alongside him next season, and will potentially be the future for us. It all sounds simple, but I'm a simple man.

@gmil, that makes sense cos we need to sign another 2 CB's in the summer so indeed, Jacquet is right to think there will be enuff game time for him.

Yeah the bloke in charge of vuying and selling players has just bought another young player with great potential - the bloke's a real pain in the ar$e. Might be a bit different if Ibou and Joe leave in the summer. Might seem a bit better with one of the most promising CBs around will be on the books.
