Why aren't we talking more about the bias being shown to Argentina?

Some of thise decisions in the Cape Verde game were ridiculous....

I think we are all a bit defeated by how capitalistic the World Cup feels now. Infantino doesn't hide that he's in it to make as much money as possible, and, of course, his star boys Ronaldo and Messi need their teams to have favourable decisions to have more eyes on the TV.

I couldn't believe Paraguay didn't get half a dozen yellows and a red.

Paraguay were horrendous in their antics. I normally root for the underdog, but was delighted to see them go out.

I was impressed by Mbappe. Showed great fight and heart. He is already an amazing player, but if he were to bring that to his game every game, like he did in his younger days for Monaco, he would be clearly and unequivocally the best player in the world today.

Instead of there being a debate. He has been the biggest star of this World Cup for me. He is on fire for them. Not just goals. His all round desire and general play. Touch greedy, which is needed, but he is playing brilliant.

The worst referee I have seen in a very long time. Just what was he thinking? The fact that he booked 3 French players and not one Paraguay player is completely baffling.

05 Jul 2026 10:55:24
He will be sent home. That referee was not up to the task. Also, in the Scotland v Morocco game he denied us 1, possibly 2 pens, and failed to send off a Morocco player. How he was picked for the World Cup is a mystery. I should dust my whistle down and make a comeback.

while we're at it shall we talk about the sports washing going on by hosting the world cup in America?

:)

with respect to argentina, I want them to win so I may have missed the apparent bias in their favour!

{Ed001's Note - why do you want the most racist nation on earth to win?}

05 Jul 2026 12:22:35
What makes it worse is the Argentina players themselves singing that pass the ball song on their bus during the Copa America last year...I'm hoping Macca wasn't singing it too.

Ed001 is right on Argentina. Here in South America it's extremely well known that racism is an accepted way of life in Argentina, their former president once said on national TV 'we don't have problems with blacks, that's brazil'

Having met a few it always surprises me just how casually they throw racist terms around as if it's just normal language. I think it's a cultural thing there

05 Jul 2026 14:04:46
Hey Ed. I have been living in Argentina for the last 14 years. I personally would not call it the most racist nation, the city where i live it's quite multicultural [ Tandil ]. I have American, Canadian, English and South African friends here.

Perhaps i am wrong, but i have never seen racism towards us here. I will say that they dislike the English, but i think that is because of the Falklands, as i said maybe i am wrong.

{Ed001's Note - you really need to learn the history of the nation and why there are so few black people left there. It is why the Nazis chose to flee there and why so many Israelis go there, it is a Nazi nation.}

Argentina is the team I least want to win!
Horrible!

05 Jul 2026 15:53:46
@welshman2501 the people you're friends with seem to be mostly foreign, that's why they give that impression

I live and work in Brazil and it's very common opinion that Argentina is a pretty racist place, especially by comparison to the countries around it.
