Hi Ed01,
Are we not in for Bruno Guimarães? He's exactly the profile we need. leader, tenacious in the tackle, and keeps the game ticking. Or is it simply that he only wants Arsenal? ?

{Ed001's Note - he wanted to stay with Newcastle before all the sales, so it has probably caught us out a bit and I think Arsenal have made him feel wanted, so that is where he will go. He is a very emotional guy. I have to be honest, I doubt we would have even considered him usually due to his age. We are looking to sign younger players to mould into top class ones that are suited to our game ala PSG.}

The rumours are Arsenal have offered him over £275k a week on a five year deal, I'd be very interested to see how years 3, 4 & 5 of that pan out, as I reckon it'll be a halfway house between Casemiro at United and the last years of Ozil's contract.

If Guimaries was 4r5 years younger, he be perfect for us. Arsenal have unreal depth in their squad, if they ever get a top class manager who lets them off the leash, they be some outfit.

Tonali is the big miss from the Newcastle fire sale, big transfer fee, but younger and more mobile. There are obvious concerns about his betting history, and I can see why that would put off potential suitors at such a large fee, but from a purely footballing perspective the guy has it all.

Reality is setting in finally for the Newcastle fans. Tried to have conversations with them last season over the Isak stuff. They're so blind, it's a bit sad.
I went to that final where they won the Carabao. It felt like the end of something rather than the beginning. They couldn't see it. Then all the Isak stuff showed how small club minded those fans are. I predicted at the time they'll slip back down into the Championship and I stand on that.
Such a shame for a great city and great set of supporters, proper football club, but they have been totally and utterly blind to reality until now. All they mention is transfer fees and getting big money for their players, who cares when you can't get the same quality in and waste every penny.
