Something that popped into my head. who is the biggest star LFC have ever signed? Maybe Barcola with two CL and a massive fee. King Kenny was already very successful in Scotland and a British transfer record.
I mean a player who was already a star with trophies, a big fee and still with a good chunk of their career left.
Any ideas?

Anelka - well we should've signed him! Trophies
Wirtz - trophies and big fee
Isak - trophies (well trophy!) and a big fee.

Not sure about the biggest star we have ever signed but Fernando Morientes from Real Madrid was a genuinely big name signing back in the day and pretty sure he'd won about 3 champions leagues when we bought him at his supposed peak. I don't think he was quite world class but he must have been fairly close at some point in his career.
Shame he was pretty awful for us and it didn't work out.
Thiago alcantara is probably the other one I can think of, another clearly established and big name signing. Again though, didn't work out.

I couldn't believe it when we got Wirtz. City and Munich all over him and he picked us. I want that kid to do well so badly.

Based on trophies Litmanen, Morientes, Thiago and Barcola had all won multiple league titles and champions leagues before they signed for Liverpool, based on transfer fee Collymore and Isak were both British transfer records.
{Ed666's Note - what a player Jari was!!! Shame he didn’t come to us when he signed for Barca in 1999..I’m pretty sure we were in for him and he chose Barca over us then came to us on a free after his time in Spain..I think that was the most excited I’ve ever been for a player signing for Liverpool..shame Houllier didn’t use him enough maybe because he was injured or there was a personal issue not sure..anyone can remember?

We don't tend sign established World superstars all that often to be fair, but I think regardless of actual success, the biggest bonafide huge name we have ever signed was probably Morientes.
Other big names that stand out are probably Anelka, more recently Wirtz, Isak and Barcola.
Torres was a big statement at the time.
Thiago obviously but he was probably on the downward trajectory when we got him. Wish he could of stayed fit more, what a player we was when he took control of a game.
