Just ready that it’s likely we stick with what we have this window as Semenyo favours City and Guehi won’t be leaving. Appreciate it’s come from the Echo and I’m really hoping they are wrong as they usually are.
Surely the club know how short we are on numbers and can barely field a side at the moment, we have to bring in new players?

Really depend on what the options are.
For example if Bastoni or Elliot Anderson were possible for January, I say we should go for it.
If there's a good option for defence I would look to purchase someone. We are light there. Maybe Jacquet or the like.
No need to panic in the forward line.

I think we'll have a good chance of getting Guehi in January tbh. Glasner isn't committing to Crystal Palace so I can see Palace overriding him and selling Guehi in order to partly fund their moves for Joe Willock and Brennan Johnson.

Sticking with what we have is essentially writing the season off, it’s an admission that we’ve no intention of attempting to defend it either. Missed opportunity if true. Squad is imbalanced. Weak and soft in midfield, no pace on the wing or up front, desperately short of numbers in central defence and a general lack of physicality throughout the squad.

I don't think there'll be any serious business done by LFC in January. We blew our budget in the summer and although things haven't worked out the way we wanted, the belief is that they will.

Historically, it’s been difficult to buy players at a sensible price in January as clubs tend to want to keep Freire better players to help them win things or make sure they aren’t relegated.
Usually a club has to pay over the odds if they want to do business. Either way I think we are going to get a month of “why haven’t they bought anybody’ or ‘they paid how much’. Happy days.

Considering we've had a fair number of injury concerns, missed out on Gurhi, there was a large amount of transfers and making that work can take time coupled with the credit Slots got from last year means finishing anywhere near 5th would absolutely be deemed acceptable by the board.
I lost confidence in Slot a long time ago, for me, he falls way short tactically, lacks in man management and is stubborn as a mule but all things considered a finish in the top half of the table is likely all he needs to keep is job.

We didn’t overpay for any player in the summer Whatsup. If any other team had bought the players we did they wouldn’t have got them for less than we paid.
As for the January window, just wait and see it’s not even January yet and the whinging has already started.
There’s just no patience anymore. You’re already writing off our summer signings after 4 months and whinging that you want more signings in January who you’ll just be slagging off by March. It’s actually quite pathetic.

1. The hierarchy has final say on transfers, we know that, there's no debate there. Slot has hinted at it before. Even when Klopp was at the club Edwards still pulled rank on transfers, though Klopp had more weight in his input as a Manager. Slot's official title is Head Coach which carries less weight when it comes to matters outside of coaching the first team. Apparently one of Edwards premises for returning to Anfield was that he had final say on transfers.
2. Did you actually read my previous post?! Because you're essentially asking the same question, which I already answered clearly. 5th is not a sackable offence. All things considered, I don't think finishing anywhere in the top half of the table is a sackable offence in the eyes of the board. We're undergoing a major rebuild, it's a transitionary period, by 2027 we'll only have about 3 starters (if that) from the 2025 winning side, big money signings or not, that's a difficult thing to deal with and Slot will be given extra leeway from the board considering he has credit in the bank. He's not going anywhere in the summer, not unless we go on another crazy losing streak and finish bottom half.

@whatsup, did you buy the plays in the summer? I thought it was the club that bought the players. Given the club, er, own the club they can pay the amount that they want to pay. Anybody who disagrees can put forward their thoughts but they may just be the ones who are delusional thinking the club is listening to their ill informed ideas.

We're boring, jittery and overcautious at the moment, but what makes anyone think that's Slot's endgame? His Feyenoord side was certainly not like that.
It takes time to master a new system. It's like learning a new drum beat. At first you have to do it slowly to get your co-ordination right. Then and only then can you quicken the pace without it all falling apart. We need some patience here.
