Wasn't he extremely close to signing 18 months ago when Newcastle were trying to meet the PSR deadline? I think eventually they sold Anderson and Minteh instead to get themselves out of the hole, and it was reported at the time that we didn't want to include Quansah as part of the deal.
I'm not sure it's as crazy of a link as you are making out. Either way, I only posted it so I could mock the mooted price tag anyway. Anthony Gordon might well still be of interest to us for all we know, but at the reported 85-95m I think I'd rather sign Gordon Ramsay to run the canteen!

If people are asking for more pace and directness in our play, then Gordon certainly fits the bill. Personally, I don't want him simply because of his attitude when he plays us. He wants to run around knobbling our players, and he gave attitude to the Kop when he scored. Regardless of that, anything above 60m would be utter lunacy.

I'd hope we pass on it. Stupid money for a player who isn't the quickest, isn't the most skilful, and his end product is distinctly mediocre at best. Stewart Downing vibes here.

He is one of my least favorite current players in the league. So, I really hope not. Bad attitude, dives all the time, and no real quality. It would be a huge mistake.

I agree he's better than Gakpo. I'm fecking better than Gakpo, and I'm 62 years old. Gordon has scored 4 tonight in the first half. He would cause havoc and get us plenty of penalties. An upgrade on Gakpo. But GBP80m is a joke. GBP60m, swap out Gakpo and give him the wage.
