Arne Slot has suggested Tsimikas may return next season, presumably to replace Robbo. Tsimikas has subsequently changed his social media accounts to reflect Liverpool in his profile picture and bio.

The Greek Scouser returns. ❤️

17 Apr 2026 12:55:39
I was thinking he was there as an option for left back, rather than spend money.

17 Apr 2026 13:30:16
I support this very much. It makes no sense to spend money on a position where we have a clear No 1. Don't get me wrong, I would have preferred to have Robbo on a new 1 year deal than Tsimi, but I respect his decision for gametime.

If Tsimi is happy to be a rotation option, then he has plenty of PL experience and loves the club!

We have bigger fish to fry this window....

17 Apr 2026 14:24:31
How about giving Owen Beck or Luke Chambers an opportunity. Slot didn't give Morton a chance and the same can be said for Ramsay. If he doesn't want to spend money, he needs to give our younger players a chance.

17 Apr 2026 14:28:09
Completely agreed. Much better to bring back what we already have than bring in a need for more purchases.
The only caveat I would give would be that if the like of Chambers, Beck or Senesi were considered viable options, then Tsimi could be utilised to bring in funds, seeing as we need it apparently.

17 Apr 2026 14:31:09
I don't mind this. As much as I don't think Tsimi is LFC class. What would be perfect would be for Chambers and/or Beck to secure a Premier League or top European League loan this season to see if they can step up at the end of Tsimi's contract.

17 Apr 2026 14:37:23
Tsimi is a great option for back up whilst we assess Beck and Scanlon's injury recoveries, as well as consider whether Chambers is ready for the gig as back up.

Fortunately, having a player like Kerkez, who is so robust and super fit, makes the back up LB role something we don't need to stress about too much.

Tsimikas, though, will give us time to consider our options long term without having to panic buy. Last thing we need is another Aly Cissokho style panic buy.

17 Apr 2026 14:53:00
If we could get Hancapie, who is on loan at Arsenal and can play both lb and lcb. Not sure he is going to stay there permanently, but him or a similar profile of player who can cover both positions would be ideal.

17 Apr 2026 15:05:08
Hey, Digger, Gooners have a buy clause in the loan deal and will activate it, bud.

17 Apr 2026 15:18:25
Hincapie is a loan with an option to buy for £50m for Arsenal.

17 Apr 2026 15:26:36
Digger, I wonder whether Schlotterbeck would be a better option at LCB? Some reports are saying his new contract includes a sell clause for specific clubs - us, RM, and 1 other - which means we could get him for roughly the same as Arsenal with Hincapie.

17 Apr 2026 16:25:41
Seen it mentioned on here, Zed, that he's great on the ball but not the best defensively? Is that accurate?

17 Apr 2026 16:26:13
Chambers has looked woeful for Charlton.

17 Apr 2026 16:30:19
I thought bringing on the youth was one of the reasons Slot was hired? Yet, aside from Rio (that was under pressure), Slot avoids the kids.

17 Apr 2026 17:58:12
Right well that's my Hincapie idea done then!!
Haven't seen an awful lot of schtolerback Zed 2bh.

17 Apr 2026 18:12:52
The stick against Slot for not using kids is unreasonable, really. I can't think of a kid who is ready or good enough to play for the first team (who isn't already seeing minutes on the pitch).

Rio and Nyoni are getting game time, and Nyoni, whilst tidy on the ball, looks lightweight.

He could develop really well, but he's not better than our first team options.

No other youngster is ready, and very few stand out, or will even make it at the top level.

17 Apr 2026 18:36:23
I agree, SL87LFC. Of all people's gripes with Slot, I think the criticism over academy players gametime is the most unjustified. The two that are anywhere near ready are getting minutes and have been in the matchday squads.

The one thing I've seen where he doesn't help himself is having two goalies on the bench instead of giving that spot to a kid. I don't get that one.

17 Apr 2026 18:54:04
You're arguing that none look good. But when do we see them? When do they get a chance, I personally thought players like Nyoni looked far better than players like Macca have been (minus the one good patch he has every game for a few mins).

Surely worth a few minutes to let some players have rest. We overcommitted on cups and look where that ended us.
Surprisingly, if they don't get a chance they don't improve.

17 Apr 2026 19:15:29
But Nyoni is the standout MF in the academy, Dean, by a distance. There's hype about young Luca Eden but the lad is only gone 15. There are a crop of young players, maybe just too young, but who are promising like Abe, Joseph and Farkas among others.

I think whoever is manager over the next year or two you are going to see more players get chances because we have some gems, but at the moment the kids who most deserve minutes are getting minutes.

17 Apr 2026 21:51:08
Slot is there next season but no money unless sales its plain as day

17 Apr 2026 23:59:21
@Kopcat07, the club (all clubs) have to stay within the rules and demonstrate financial responsibility. Unlike some, we seem to stick to the rules. Very few clubs can spend 1/2 billion every window.

Speaking of financial responsibility, it's salutary to see the joint owner of a certain London club selling FA Cup tickets to fans of his club via the website he partly owns for £1705.

Perhaps he will be working with the FA to ensure he's working within the rules.

18 Apr 2026 09:26:38
I think we might spend up to a coupla hundred mill net which is all we did last summer. We made a lot back through sales. That seems to be the new norm for the top sides.

18 Apr 2026 10:53:14
Tsimikas coming back. Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse.

18 Apr 2026 12:47:32
Some Liverpool supporters are crazy. They think that Academy players in their 20s, who have been loaned out and to lower division clubs and had little impact at those clubs, can somehow come on and revitalise Liverpool into Premier and Champions League contenders.

Same for those who scream for Chiesa and Endo to get more games. These players are not good enough for Liverpool FC. Not unless you want to support a mid to lower table team.

18 Apr 2026 13:12:53
Kemlyn, that's exactly it. The latest crop hasn't been good enough. We have two who are in match day squads and getting minutes. They could develop into Liverpool players, but they need time.

When it's going wrong, everyone knows better, I guess, and the other option would have been better, i.e.

playing Nyoni over a World Cup winner.

The academy needs to produce players of the right standard. It's doing the job in giving us sale able assets, but we'd all like to see some kids come through into the side.

18 Apr 2026 15:25:51
Kemlyn, I 100% agree with you. I posted in response to MK Scouser, yesterday, pretty much saying the same, regards to our younger players. And you're spot on regards to Endo and Chiesa. You can also chuck in Jones, soon to return Tsimikas, and we all know Gomez is a waste of space. I'll just leave it at that, it's spoiling my Saturday.

18 Apr 2026 16:33:26
Isn't the "Slot not playing the kids" simply exacerbated by not spending any time, as reported on here, at the academy watching the kids?

18 Apr 2026 20:44:20
Well said, Rome.

19 Apr 2026 09:28:43
Simi needs to be sold, most agreed on it last year, he takes a few games to get up to speed when starting if you take off the red tinted glasses the only reason he is still here as ed1 has stated is he loves it here and doesn't want to leave
