Hi all,
Talks between Liverpool and Xabi’s camp have broken down significantly.
The Liverpool board refuse to align on the position, even though it has been an incredibly easy task to complete for some time now. However, it has been communicated to Xabi that we do not intend to progress talks any further.
I give up with the club.
I’m not sure what more info I can or will be able to give in future, at least so long as Hughes and Edwards are in charge. The club is in a truly diabolical spot at the moment and egos might cause our club to spiral. Fans need to do something.
Hopefully something changes, but for now, it likely will still be Slot in charge next season.
16 May 2026 10:14:01
Just going off what other ITKs have said. It didn't sound like there were recent talks anyways. So, how would talks have broken down significantly?
16 May 2026 10:14:35
So was it Xabi or nobody?
16 May 2026 10:20:52
The whole situation requires FSG main shareholders' intervention. Mike Gordon is the only one that cares really tbh.
Something is clearly very wrong at the club, so someone above Edwards needs to step in and take charge ASAP.
16 May 2026 10:20:54
The way I see it is this. Either the owners are working on someone who they think is better than Xabi, or they have the intention of decimating the value of the club overnight. If they pursue with Slotball and Bill & Ben at the helm, there will be a 'riot' from the fans.
If Champions League is not secured with these buffoons in charge, then the wrath of the fans will be on them.
This dire mis-management and results have been going on for well over a year, and I refuse to believe that they are that stupid not to make changes.
16 May 2026 10:22:13
It was an easy task to get Guehi, and by some rumours Semenyo as well. Yet they still managed to F that up royally. How can Slot/Hughes/Edwards/FSG go into the new season knowing that anything other than perfect is going to get toxic fast, the pressure will be immense. Any loss/draw will be magnified to the extreme.
You can't win a league in September, but you can be out of one. I've never known a club to be so lackadaisical as we are. Every single time we get close to starting something special, we take a step back and never follow through. Absolute joke of a club.
16 May 2026 10:24:12
Whilst I appreciate the information, not everyone thinks our club is in a diabolical position. Maybe we have someone else lined up, maybe we havent, maybe XA doesn't want to join us, maybe Slot stays... there are a lot of maybe's. The truth is, no one knows what is happening.
I will not subscribe to your request to 'do something' and nor should anyone else.
Trust the hierarchy have a plan to fix our current situation and then support that decision, because in truth, they haven't got much wrong over the last few years.
16 May 2026 10:37:11
I'm still on the fence, I am hoping this is a bluff from Alonso's people to force our hand. The momentum seems to stem from a Talksport report.
The red in me doesn't see how anyone would pick that lot over us if both projects were on the table. Bohely has shown nothing since taking over that the club is in safe hands, and he has the connection to the club, plus Wirtz and a few others I'm sure would be great to manage.
If he does go to Chelsea, the powers that be need to play a blinder, and I'm talking Iraola or Enrique. No one else will come close to the perceived level to the fan base that wouldn't question their decision making.
For now I still have hope, but it needs to move quickly otherwise I'm spending the summer in a bunker!
16 May 2026 10:39:13
In my opinion, it's Iraola.
That's what I'm being told. Confidently. Have been for a while now.
Cheers.
16 May 2026 10:39:13
Kenny is on the board, surely he has a view on this situation. It's a real shame after winning the league but I can't see a way back for the coaching team or the transfer team. Once the fans lose faith, it's a spiral down.
In the past there was an affiliation with the managers, that worked both ways. That started to go with Hodgson but at least he was an honourable guy, we got it back in spades with Jurgen.
Now it feels like a franchise that could be based anywhere, with a team and set of coaches that equally aren't rooted in the place and are detached emotionally. They're also not elite which makes it much harder to accept.
16 May 2026 10:52:15
The vicar - as long as the plan is to replace Slot - but it doesn't sound like that is the case, and therefore I'd ask you to pray for all of us because there's no way that Slot can turn this ship around.
He's shown over the past year he's totally disconnected with the fans, the senior players & the basics of what we expect from a LFC coach & team.
16 May 2026 10:54:30
If it is Iraola, RobboLFC, I would have to question what would happen when Real Madrid or some other hard hitter from Spain comes calling if he is a success. We know his wife is unsettled, so would it be wise to take on a manager who could leave us in a year anyway?
16 May 2026 10:55:05
However much Slot thinks with the right players and back room staff his system will work. The fact is, all season and a fair portion of past season we haven’t had them players and it hasn’t worked. Apart from every game!!! The same press (I use that term loosely) doesn't work, we get played through, a non-existent midfield is ridiculously outnumbered and outpaced, their forwards have more space than actual "space". I saw our fullbacks in a 3 v 1 multiple times, and we were adopting the long throw into their box (the same long throws Slot bemoaned last season). On top of that, he has lost the dressing room "and" the fans, he has divided the unity in the squad, lowered the standards that are the minimum requirement at our club, and just repeats it over and over and over again!!!!!!!!! He is breaking the work ethic, standards and unity of the whole club... The club are sending social media teasers today for next season's kit!!!!!!!! Normally a pretty exciting time for fans.
And we haven't the man who, in not being available at the time, is the only reason Slot got the job, waiting in the wings who at a minimum will establish the basic standards this club has and needs for success. It's beyond frustrating, it's angering, and as much as it pains me, we should not buy/order this new kit, and in the last game apart from at the 20min mark, sing Xabi Alonso the whole match. It's a tragedy the send off for Mo and Robbo is being overshadowed!!! It's truly worrying times and it make no logical sense at all!!!!!...and I think my lad summed it up last night when seeing us adopting the long throw tactic......"wtf dad, we are using the long throw, that is not who we are"......I hope some common sense or those in charge force the issue behind the scenes, because the consequences the club is facing with this leadership on and off the pitch is not worth thinking about...........
16 May 2026 10:56:22
I've heard you say this a few times, Robbo, and I'm literally praying 24 hours a day that what you're hearing is correct.
This may explain why the talks with Alonso have broken down, and why it seems like he's about to join Chelsea: because of the fact we've got a preferred option.
Please let there be a happy ending to this terrible saga, in the very near future.
16 May 2026 10:57:09
It's pretty obvious there's never been any serious talks with Alonso or his reps anytime in the last couple of years, so can safely say there were no talks to break down significantly in the first place.
16 May 2026 10:59:30
Robbie, is Slot still going? I cannot carry on watching this absolute s****! It's infuriating! I just want to know Slot is going, first and foremost? Thanks.
16 May 2026 11:17:40
Like to hear this, Robbo, and appreciate all your work.
Have wanted Iraola from the start and feel he could be the man to take us forward!!
16 May 2026 11:18:22
The decision making and leadership at this club is pathetic. And the claim of being data driven is an insult to genuine data scientists.
The club needs its identity back. Hiring Bournemouth or Stuttgart coaches will not restore that with these self promoting, gaslighting, vandals in charge.
16 May 2026 11:26:44
Slot is a fraud and has been found out. His press conferences are bewildering. He is so uninspiring. He seems to be watching a different match to the rest of us. He doesn't seem to understand the DNA of our club. To say scoring 2 goals at Villa is not too bad is a total joke.
We were only good tbh in the first half of last season with Klopp's team... And were also helped by the other teams in the league being poor. Yes he tweaked Gravenberch's position, but he has undone that this season. Since January last year, we have been in a steady decline. Can't understand why the hierarchy can't see this in all their 'data' or with their eyes!
Contract renewal negotiations with players over the last few years have been a farce, letting so many run down, and now we have Slot, Hughes & Edwards all with one year left.
Buying Isak and passing on Guehi and Semenyo has proved to be disastrous.
Slot has lost the players and the fans... Why are the hierarchy the only ones believing his excuses?
Am grateful for him coming in and winning the league but his time is up. Hope the club announce it this week (and Brighton & Bournemouth draw or lose) so we can say goodbye to Salah & Robertson positively on the final day. Otherwise it could be toxic.
Will always support our amazing club but staying blindly loyal to this manager makes no sense.
16 May 2026 11:35:41
I don't think Slot is a fraud but I do think he's been found out.
A lot of managers, most in fact, are unable to adapt and have their tactics evolve.
As for managerial change, I think all the decisions required are pending. Maybe the board didn't like to be rushed in to making such a big call?
16 May 2026 11:37:17
The Incredible Bulk -
Exactly what my thought.
All attack football, with no experience in big club nor Champions League, scream Rogers 2.0 to me.
Even he succeeded, he definitely will go when Madrid or Barca knock. Especially when Mourinho going back to Madrid, everyone knows it won't be long, mainly just to settle the issue, Madrid will definitely need a new manager one year or two.
We are just training Iraola for them, and we need stability more than anything at the moment. We can not change managers every two/three years or we will be like United.
16 May 2026 11:53:53
Vicar, don't tell me the trust the board. Why should I, they're the key enables of this horror show. So no, I will continue to call out the bald fraud, dumb and dumber and FSG.
16 May 2026 11:54:50
How has it gone from "crossing the Ts and dotting the i's" to a complete breakdown.
16 May 2026 12:38:18
Jesus, lads. We haven't even got Iraola yet or if even we do get him, some of you on here are worrying about whether he'll go to Madrid in 3 years time. ?
Give me a break. By that logic let's not sign any more good players in case they move on in a few years.
Jesus, just live for the present guys.
Get a manager in who knows what he's doing and revive our team.
16 May 2026 12:41:38
We've learned nothing from our previous mistakes or the mistakes made by United recently. If we're in a relegation battle next season or finish mid table with no European football, it wouldn't be a surprise at all. This club is so obviously being mismanaged right now it's blatantly obvious to literally everyone except for those within the club. Embarrassing.
16 May 2026 12:49:59
Of course, we want a new long term manager, but I'd rather have Iraola for a year than another year of Slot. Christ, at the moment, I'd rather have Iraola's wife in charge over Slot.
16 May 2026 13:10:08
For clarification, I was given extreme confidence that once talks reignited, that Xabi was nearly a done deal. Similar to what Carra reported earlier in the season, I suppose.
Everything since then has been negative and Chelsea getting involved has not helped one bit.
It's all about egos at the club currently. In my opinion, it sounds like there may be a chip on the shoulder of a certain someone on the board, likely in relation to FSG not proceeding on their plans to buy a second club.
16 May 2026 13:33:58
vg,
May I ask do you know why FSG still not interrupt yet? Surely they cannot trust someone who is heavily linked to Saudi every week and someone who has a one year contract left with attitude about unfulfilled promises to make the correct long term decisions.
16 May 2026 13:38:41
He can take his chip, remove his finger, and stick the chip where the sun don't shine.
Klopp was right about these clowns.
If onky FSG had a discussion with Klopp about these guys
16 May 2026 13:58:26
I am not sure why FSG have not interrupted, to be honest.
Like I said, I give up. Just gonna unplug mentally from next season unless there's drastic changes over the summer.

A prayer in response to nutter...
Oh, Great Gods of the Beautiful Game, hear the plea of our loyal supporter.... Nutter. Bless our strikers' boots with precision, and grant our defense the strength of a fortress.
Frode, peace, my brother.
Please grant Frode the grace to handle the highs and lows with perspective.
In moments of heartbreak, poor refereeing, or a string of tough losses, wrap him in your peace. Remind him that at the end of the day, it is just a game, and his joy and identity do not need to be defined by a scoreline... or a manager.
