David Ornstein just done an exclusive to say Bayern Munich are after Rio Ngumoha! Hope they don't come near him!
05 Jun 2026 17:18:59
For the right money, they can come as close as they want...
05 Jun 2026 17:20:38
We absolutely should not sell for a whole bunch of reasons.
05 Jun 2026 17:24:07
They can have Gakpo instead.
05 Jun 2026 17:32:06
Will sell for 500m plus Olise and Musiala.
05 Jun 2026 17:40:53
Probably agent trying to up his wages.
05 Jun 2026 17:46:06
He is a great kid, but if they gave us Olise that's good business.
05 Jun 2026 17:48:09
Was just waiting for one of the sheep, who think they're funny, to mention Gakpo.
05 Jun 2026 17:51:22
I'd sell for right money.
05 Jun 2026 18:02:34
No, I wouldn't sell. We've just brought in a manager that works great with young players, and is all about attacking football. Why sell our best young attacking talent? Makes zero sense at all. We will get a profit from Rio at some point. I'm betting Rio starts on the left 1st game next season.
05 Jun 2026 18:02:53
He's not irreplaceable at all. So if they offered say £50 million I'd take it.
05 Jun 2026 18:07:11
If it pays all for Diamonde, bring it on. Rayan is with the Brazil squad, another 19-year-old phenomenon in the making.
When Jamie Car-Rager and John Barnes question Andoni's appointment, you know Liverpool Football Club has got the right man?
Ask any Tranmere Rovers fan about John Barnes' management at their club.
He was sacked after 4 months, and two of them months were pre-season, June, July, and he only won two of his first eleven league fixtures, and he fully backed Slot for another season.
05 Jun 2026 18:08:35
The fact Bayern want him, knowing they wouldn't get him cheap, shows exactly why we should want to keep him. When Olise was at Rio's stage of his development, he'd just come off a season where he'd made 4 appearances for the mighty Reading.
05 Jun 2026 18:26:22
Replacing Olise, who's off to Madrid.
05 Jun 2026 18:29:23
Agreed, Florian, a constant criticism of Slot was the refusal to play youth and now people want the one that looks like breaking through selling. There aren't many 17-year-olds that have had the season he's had, of course he isn't the finished article, but with the right coaching, who knows. I hope we find out whilst he's here.
05 Jun 2026 18:32:36
Wild how willing some of you are to give up our most promising young talent, was not expecting to read those comments after I saw the original post.
05 Jun 2026 18:35:02
Why on earth would people be happy to entertain a deal for one of the brightest sparks in world football, who can be a talisman for us for the next decade and who will need replacing with someone who inevitably would cost more and would have a lower ceiling?
Bonkers.
05 Jun 2026 18:36:30
Hey, let's not storm down on John Barnes. Sure, you may not agree with his views, but one of the greatest to play for us, and did a hell of a lot to change racist attitudes, but was always subject to racist abuse when playing for England.
And struggling with cancer.
05 Jun 2026 18:37:22
Really can't understand people advocating for Rio to be sold. Strange. Hopefully, we can get him signed up to a good long term contract.
05 Jun 2026 18:39:22
Replacing Olise? Is he on a free?
05 Jun 2026 18:50:57
Kid probably just wants to play a bit more, and is scratching his head at how little game time he got vs Gakpo. The brains trust put Gakpo on £250,000 a week so probably felt compelled / contracted to play him as much as they did (3596 mins for Gakpo vs 952 mins for Ngumoha).
Football agent skullduggery most likely. If he gets bigger game time assurance, I'm sure he'll stay. Personally I think he deserves it.
05 Jun 2026 18:52:13
Rio hasn't even reached the ripe old age of 21 and some are advocating for a transfer. We need to give our young ones time to develop. We may have a big star on our hands. We will never know until we give him that chance.
05 Jun 2026 18:59:52
Just why would you sell Rio? Don't get it, absolutely no need.
05 Jun 2026 19:01:58
Because they know full well he'd do reasonably well on a weaker league, and then be able to sell him back to an English team for 10x the price in 6-7 years' time. Loads of European sides are doing it.
Just look at Sancho, Edwards, and now Barca with Gordon.
It's all about milking the Premier League, I think, rather than seeing incredible talent. There's a reason England have won F-all for 60 years.
05 Jun 2026 19:03:12
Monstersouness, what exactly does Barnes' illness or the racist abuse he experienced 30 years ago have to do with his opinions today? Give over the moral posturing, mate.
05 Jun 2026 19:11:10
True No.8. People whinge wanting more kids getting game time. Only thing is, they all have to be Diego Maradona by the time they are 17/18.
05 Jun 2026 19:14:21
If any left winger was to go, it could only be Gakpo. Rio has too much potential, is exciting to watch, and can actually beat a man.
05 Jun 2026 17:47:37
Yawnstein has lost all credibility. Tiresome fool.
05 Jun 2026 20:07:39
Wirtz PR revenge.
05 Jun 2026 20:22:03
No 17yr old in the Prem got more mins than Rio.
Next season, under a manager who likes to develop youth, he'll likely get more.
I don't see where he gets his mins at Bayern.
05 Jun 2026 20:29:51
I really don't believe that Rio is going to become the world beater everyone thinks he is.
Don't get me wrong, he's been alright, and I hope he makes me eat my words, but I don't believe he's the new messiah everyone thinks.
Reminds me of when Jordan Ibe broke through and everyone was raving about how he was going to be huge and he's so much better than Sterling.
Or when Macheda scored a couple of wonder goals for the Mancs and they automatically decided he was the future.
Rio, in my opinion, has done alright, no more no less. He stood out in a toothless side because he seemed like the only player willing to get forward.
He'll probably do alright next season too, but people saying he's one of the world's biggest talents and stuff are way way way over-egging the kid.
05 Jun 2026 20:50:55
Every player has a price, that's the reality of football in the 21st century.
Rio's price will be high.
05 Jun 2026 21:19:45
Well, Chewy, maybe I just dislike people slagging off our legends - purely because they cannot cope with legends having a different point of view.
And, yes, I think someone having cancer should preclude them from being monstered online by keyboard wizards. But then again, I don't think anyone should be monstered online.
05 Jun 2026 23:01:07
I'd sell him in the morning and purchase Rayan from Bournemouth. He's going to be better than good. Rio is all hype and not much else. He's getting plaudits without doing anything special whatsoever. He's just a mediocre player for what I've seen of him.
06 Jun 2026 00:25:07
Monstered? Relax with the melodramatics. 007's comment didn't 'monster' anybody. He made a bit of a joke in between facts, there was no disrespect. Carragher and Barnes have both shared a number of opinions over the years that have rubbed fans the wrong way or gone against the grain. 007 was simply alluding to that. There was nothing more to it.
