Hi all,

Liverpool are weighing up a potential move for Djed Spence. His cut price is appealing but nothing is advanced yet.

Not a deal I knew of or thought we'd go for. Personally don't think it happens.

God I hope not. Would be up there with signing Nathaniel Clyne.

06 Aug 2026 17:51:53
I actually think it's a bargain at £35 million, definitely better than what we have, plus he has Premier League experience. I can see this happening!!

06 Aug 2026 17:57:57
I suppose the key things are, is he better than what we have? Is he robust? If yes to both and the HG factor, it does make sense, plus his versatility in being able to cover lb. You weigh it up like that, it seems a reasonable signing.

Cheers VG.

Not to my liking but thanks for sharing.

35mn for him is crazy money. Anything more than 15 is.

06 Aug 2026 18:11:16
We could do a lot worse than Djed Spence. 16 days until the new season by the way, this Munoz best be good. ?

06 Aug 2026 18:22:16
Pass on Spence for me, but if it happens I will support the lad. Thanks as always for your info matey, look forward to your posts.

06 Aug 2026 18:22:44
I wouldn't say no to Spence. I wouldn't say no to me playing at RB at this point.

06 Aug 2026 18:27:03
Everyone realizes, at the moment, we can only buy one more foreign player over the age of 21, right? Do we really want to waste that spot on a right back?

06 Aug 2026 18:34:11
Mac, Endo, Gakpo, Chiesa to
Make space.

06 Aug 2026 18:35:23
He's horrendous. As bad if not worse than Frimpong. We need to be getting rid of these type of players not purchasing more.

06 Aug 2026 18:39:04
I would take him, he covers both full back positions, and let's be honest, we need numbers.

06 Aug 2026 18:40:06
Spence is not happening.

06 Aug 2026 18:42:14
Lightsise, people were saying the same names last summer and they are still here.

06 Aug 2026 18:51:51
Thanks for sharing, mate.

However, I have to say, when I read stuff like this it seems to me like we don't have a plan.

We seem to be very reactive to players (their agents or their clubs) becoming available, instead of having proactive targets that we are going for and getting done.

I appreciate Diomande was a target and that's all gone to **** due to varying factors (mostly not in our control).

06 Aug 2026 19:00:07
I'm with Origi83, hope Munoz can cover both full back positions, all midfield areas and up front... Also if Becker gets crocked, he may need to turn his hand to Goalie. ?

I honestly can't see any more signings right now.

So much time taken on Diomande and Barcola and seems they can only work on one signing at a time, also picking players from clubs that are hard to deal with.

I'm no expert in anything here, but seems we over complicate things these days.

06 Aug 2026 19:02:54
Let's be honest with ourselves. He's not the best fullback out there. But he beats having to stick Szobo or Endo at right back. I think he's also better at left back than Tsimi.

06 Aug 2026 19:31:38
Navy, I agree with the lack of plan notion.

This was already brought to the fore when we spent a lot on 2x CF, when it always looked as though we would play one supported by wide men.

Ekitike cost £69million, which is a sizeable amount for a "back up".

Add in Wirtz, when we had Szob, arguably, in that position anyhow, and we looked clueless - it literally looked like signing players and then working out what to do with them.

06 Aug 2026 19:32:14
I'd take him as another body who's hopefully fitter and more reliable than others in same position and at not too much money, tuiyght he was quite good in WC.
Agreed, doesn't seem like there's much of a plan being followed here unless the 2 PSG lads land on our doorstep sooon, then it's not quite as bad.

Could it be a cunning plan we're playing?
Hope so.

06 Aug 2026 19:33:45
Christ, people are so thirsty for a signing they'll take any old s****!

06 Aug 2026 23:29:56
Not my preferred option, but I'd have him over Frimpong to be honest.

I'd say Spence is better, not as lightweight, and can cover both sides. £35m is not bad for a HG utility fullback.

If options at fullback are hard to get right now, and Spence was a straightforward signing, I'd take him and sell Frimpong now, in January or end of season for about the same amount.

I do think we need better though. Palestra or Kayode were the ones I wanted but that ain't happening anymore. I'd absolutely love Kounde but can't see it happening as he doesn't seem to want out of Barca and we're running out of time with lots of work still to be done, shame.
